Lol. Canes were talking about buying him out this off-season

I can also look at vemeljka trade. Elvis is not worth his contract and if Columbus does not want to retain then they can keep him.</div></div>
Okay but Elvis half retained does not need a second attached to him. They could probably trade him with 1.5 million retained for FC with the UFA goalie market

Take out retention on Elvis and maybe the jackets accept. Jackets don’t really need jankrok

Firesale and Rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Viqsi</b></div><div>That's fair. I'm just kind of slightly dying of desperation for any blueliner that looks like they could potentially distantly resemble a shutdown guy that isn't Gudbranson. If we don't sign a Roy this offseason my head might explode.</div></div>
Yeah I agree. I think we need a shutdown guy too even if it’s someone to replace bean at 3LD. I think Waddell is definitely going to target one this off-season based on his comments. I’d ship out bean and boqvist to get one. Right side is most likely set with jiricek, severson, and gudbranson.

Firesale and Rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Viqsi</b></div><div>I'm torn on the Provorov trade. The point of him being on the team is that we keep him around until Mateychuk's ready to break in and then trade him to make room; the idea wasn't to swap him for other roster players. But at the same time, Lindgren looks kind of interesting, and while I don't exactly have faith in Kakko myself I can see why some people might want to attempt the gamble. And yet on the other other hand, we have a huge logjam at wing such that Kakko is unlikely to get any useful minutes here and Lindgren would have to prove himself almost immediately or else we've not actually solved the problem and now we're less likely to recoup our costs. So I'm kind of going back and forth on this one.</div></div>
I’d much prefer to hold onto him until the deadline and take the best package of picks possible half retained. That buys mateychuk time in the A and maximizes his return. Like you said this just creates a log jam

Only Necas trade that makes sense for both teams
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Necas is better than Laine, Orlov is better than Provorov. A players best ability is availability, and Laine has struggled to be available for a long time now. So, Necas >>. Provorov just sucks, he's a cap dump. Orlov is a top 4 D man. A touch overpaid? Maybe, cap dump? No. Carolina do not need cap relief, they have 30 million in cap space. Please explain to me why this is fair for Carolina</div></div>
Necas isn’t better than laine but because of Laines health and contract he is more valuable

Jackets have no interest in marner or in trading werenski. They definitely aren’t adding a first for the opportunity to overpay marner lol. Sorry but marner isn’t waiving so you either re sign him or let him walk to UFA

Jenner is not available and that’s not enough for him.
Crosby will be signing an extension for around 10 million per year and you will need to trade for him.
Not sure if that’s enough for Necas and doubt that’s what the canes want anyways

A Trouba buy-out is Jensen’s cap and they would keep Kakko. Then Trouba and Kakko doesn’t do much for the Caps</div></div>
I don’t think the rangers need to buyout trouba. I think there would be a handful of teams that would trade for him with 2 million or so retention which is cheaper than a buyout

Sheet Music
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey_Soul</b></div><div>I'm left to assume that you think 8.5 x 7 is way too much for Byfield? Certainly, it is high right now, but he looks to me like a 1C either next year or the year after, so I think that is probably worth it. I get the offer sheet cost is a lot, but to have Byfield and Fantilli as a 1A/1B option for the foreseeable future seems like a gamble at least worth considering.
Let me also say, a 7-year offer sheet is not something I think anyone would realistically do. But LAK is close to being in a cap bind, and this might be the only way to pry him out of there.</div></div>
More so to do with the compensation. You could trade for byfield for less than 4 first rounders. The jackets shouldn’t be trading any first rounders away until they are consistent playoff contenders. They are likely to pick in the top 10 again next year
