Take your pick of big bodies forwards who went in the top 5 over the years who either outright busted or failed to reach stardom. If Slaf doesn't start scoring, he's never going to be an elite forward, no matter how good the rest of his game is.</div></div>
St-Louis is bringing him along slowly. He's earning his time. Just got on PP1 two games ago.
Anyhow, I get you value your guy and want to keep him. Just be sure to be as rational and realistic with Zegras. He could never score 65 pts again, because Carlsson and McT take the opportunities from him. Good evening.

After a good start of a few games, he’s been horrible
0-4-1 in his last 5 games, with a save% of .844
Not a big sample size, but it’s half the games he’s played this year
His save% for the season is under.900, just like it was last year
He hasn’t been good for over 4 years now
Allen is absolutely the wrong goalie to target for the Sabres
It’s not happening</div></div>
And, the Sabres defense is much better. Should improve his number. He'd be a major upgrade on Comrie.
But, he's a Hab. Use your irrational emotions.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>We though the same thing about Nick Ritchie, and truthfully, that's more what Slaf looks like at the moment. Iginla and the likes of dominant power forwards like him had much larger impacts when they first entered the league. Slaf is on pace for what, 28-30 points this season? Z put up 60+ his freshman and sophomore years. Sky may be the limit, but showing up on the scoreboard to prove why the team went off the board to grab you 1OA needs to happen.
As to Z, he's also still improving. His play away from the puck this season is night and day different than in past seasons, and he's a pretty safe bet for 80-90 point seasons in his prime. If you are Anaheim's front office, and you look at this trade proposal, you don't take it unless Montreal adds a hell of a sweetener.
Slaf will be an NHL player with a lengthy career, of that I have no doubt, but right now it's not clear at all if he's going to be a top line star, or a good middle six piece.</div></div>
Are you watching Habs games? Doubt it. There is a reason Habs fans here wouldnt make the trade. Using Ritchie as an example is asinine. Have a good evening.

I just don't like Bert cause he was a dirty player that deserved to be ran out if the league for his attack on Moore. You can't tell me that that was a hockey play or an unfortunate accident, Bert attacked him from behind and drove him face first into the ice, the results may have been unexpected but not unpredictable. The fact that he was allowed to play again was a stain on the leagues image IMHO, Moore never got to play again, why should Bertuzzi have been able to?!</div></div>
Bert was a skilled beast. Im sorry using his comparison drudges all this up for you. Can I call you kid, again? :P

Unproven upside is risk, Anaheim would have to be compensated for giving up the known better player today, and Z still has untapped potential as well.</div></div>
I understand why you wrote it, but Z is not proven or a star. His contract would reflect it. As it turns out, Ducks management had their reservations as well.
Habs point of view, his improvements have been steady and exponential. Sky is the limit as he looks more and more like a dominant player.

Slaf's potential to grow into a Todd Bertuzzi era PF is more valuable than flashy top 6 skill alone.

Last year they lost 460 man games and still won the central how wasn’t that working for them? They lost to Seattle because nobody not named MacKinnon, Rantanen, Makar, Toews or Erod scored and they were literally playing an AHL dman at forward. Unless the back up goalie starts scoring points what’s it matter, and before they went outside and let’s not forget Provetsov has been fine they would just give Annunen run. Trading COL a back up goalie at a premium price is just foolish.</div></div>
Hope it works out for yas. I wouldnt put much stock in Georgiev and hopefully he stays healthy. Thanks for your opinion.

Not sure if the Habs would value this. Ylonen is NHL ready with a top 6 skill set. No real point to trade him for an unproven Lavoie. Draft pedigree is moot at this stage. Beyond that, Allen is worth more that sparse pieces.

Yup. That hasnt been working. They caught fire in a bottle with Kuemper. And stuck gold with Francouz as a decent backup. If you are content with this duo into the playoffs. Power to you.

Thank you for the constructive reply. I do think the Habs defense depth could come into play if that is a need. I didnt have much stock in Pearson when he came from Van. I assure you, he is legit bottom 6 LW and PKer.

Perhaps. Yet Evans is a stud 4C. He would yield a very good return from a contender. Sabres are going to have to diversify that forward group. Can't have 4 offensive lines. And, they aren't doing Krebs value much merit. Thanks for your opinion.

Is Prosvetov playing so little because they dont trust him or because the want to overwork Georgiev intentionally?
You can't judge Allen by his stats playing with the Habs. But think what you need to.
Zadorov demanded a trade and limited the teams optins and his value. Furthermore, you can't compare an overpaid 3rd pairing dman midseason and a solid vet backup,

Evans and Pearson would be extremely better bottom 6 players. They would balance the Sabres roster out and provide dynamic depth. Instead of offensive players floundering in defensive roles. But thanks for your opinion.

Out of al the goalies listed so far. If you had to choose one. Who would you choose? Semantics aside, cost trade value, contracts aside.
I would want Knight. Urgency is Florda's willingness and cup widow and cap space. Firthermore, Fowler and Miller are 5ish years away? Knight is on the verge and an escalated 22, well ahead of the normal goalie curve. Pedigree is evident. Also his next contract will be all prime years.
