Yeah it'd really suck to get one of the best young centers in the game.

And I still feel like it won't happen. Stan has shown to have some stones before, but the Kings have all the assets the end of the day.

Good lord me too. It sounds like the market is heating up, which is good for us. I dont think you can afford to lose that badly on a trade.

I think the kings trade is pretty bad. Maybe you rate vilardi over turcotte, which is your choice, I dont. Then you add Andersson and roy, who don't have any place in an eichel trade. quick is a 35 year old goalie making 6 million per year, and as he is saving less than 90% of the shots against, that's a cap dump. Sure the 22 first is nice, but thats not enough, not even in the ballpark.

Eichel
Eichel does make sense for a last ditch attempt to win with your core. Giving up your entire future is a big exaggeration. At most probably 2 young guys would be going the other way. You'd also have salary going the other way. I get losing Dach would suck and I would hate to give away Cozens too. But in an alternate reality where Kane, Toews, and Keith are on the Sabres I'd give him up to get a top center. That's just me. I always think it's better to go with the proven top guy than a young guy that might become that. I don't think the Hawks will be the team to land him though, so you probably don't have to worry.

Exactly.... Rather not give up on tons of potential for one player, I think the winner of the Eichel sweepstakes is La because they can offer a lot and it wouldn't really hurt their future.

I'm not saying Dach + for Eichel isn't fair, I don't think Chicago should be in on him and they should just keep there players and let them grow out to their full potential.
Also Boqvist and Dach are both Top 10 picks, they both have played less then 82 games, They're still developing and each at full potential will be very good players.</div></div>

Rielly/Jones. No F'ing way. You're dreaming if you think ANY team would give up their best prospect for a rental. The Hawks aren't even contenders right now.

Dear Sabres Leafs and CBJ Fans
So from the CHI point of view. I'm with ya. The other teams are going to do whatever is in their best interest.
CBJ might just play Jones until the TDL. That's when they'll likely get maximum value in terms of prospects from a team like TOR. CBJ will retain half and then get Timmy, and Amirov or something like that.
TOR is better off holding onto Rielly. They're trying to win it now. MAYBE he does indeed walk. That's how it works, but you HAVE to go for it.
BUF, they're in a real pickle. BUF likely won't get a super high end prospect. The only reason teams are lined up is because they smell blood in the water...and they're right. This is a Duchene situation and BUF should play it out in a similar manner. Get cost controlled NHLers that are looking for more ice time, Get prospects, and a ton of picks. That's how they'll have to grow as a team. Getting 1 guy for Eichel is just going to lead to that guy leaving. They NEED to get a decent team and then win the Wright Bedard sweepstakes.

IMO this is a far better trade from the BUF perspective than Dach. The problem that BUF created after winning the Eichel Sweepstakes...was signing guys to WAY too much money and WAY to early in their build. They didn't even know who they were as a team and $6M to Okposo and $9M to a guy that's never scored more than 63 points is ROUGH. Allow Okposo to come off the books. You're going to suck next year. You just are. Draft Owen Power and have him stay at Michigan. Draft Wright next year (if you win). Go out and get some REAL hockey players. If you need to pay up for Danault (a guy like him not necessarily specifically him)...at least you know you're going to get some defensive play out of him. Don't go purely for the flash. Get guys willing to do the dirty work so that Wright/Power can develop into REAL superstars.</div></div>
I think Buffalo needs to decide and give it a timeline similar to what Ottawa did. Don’t let the good young players play too long without help. Have all the young players close in age and bring them all in across 2-3 seasons. For the first 2 years have some veterans to protect , then 3 year it will be mostly young kids. Follow the Ottawa blueprint pretty much

I like it for both sides as is but Buffalo likely wants at least one 1st in any Eichel deal. Still, they should absolutely do this deal.

I'm surprised that I found a version that feels possible. The key to paying for Eichel will be keeping our contracts on JEEK and Fiala under 4.5 and 6M each. Or including Fiala in a trade for Eichel, but I'd hate to lose him
