I have no idea why they have so much hype. They aren’t better than Boston and Ottawa, they couldn’t even finish higher than the Sabres last season. If Yzerman wasn’t their GM people would be laughing at their off-season overpaying 3 line players and giving Chiarot a huge contract.

With Detroit adding both Copp, Perron and Kubalik the offenses should be as equal. And Detroit has just as much talent in their pipeline as Buffalo has.
Marco Kasper > Matthew Savoie.</div></div>
Detroit had the worst defense in the league last season and they added Ben chiarot.. Sabres pipeline is definitely better which isn’t a knock on Detroit Sabres tore everything apart and have made 22 draft picks the past 2 seasons. 5 first round picks.

Probably, they are both 80 point teams. Buffalo defense is much better. Both teams have tandem starters. Sabres are built for longer term success with their recent drafting.

I don’t think it would be too supersizing to see Detroit struggle. Their defense is still very bad spent all this money to be a decent team at best.

They would have to include Byfield, even then I don’t think the Sabres would accept.

No it’s not. Gallagher washed, Anderson legitimately terrible, Dach has been awful, Drouin isn’t great, Hoffman horrible. Suzuki isn’t a real 1st line center yet either.

I’m not sure what they do with Bjork. Maybe put him on waivers and hope some team claims him. If not I think he make the team. They carried 14 forwards last year.

I always found myself rooting for Bryson, yet even on the third pair I think "can't we get somebody better?" Like if he's the best option there, can't we get somebody who is that good that is bigger and more physical, it seems pretty obvious that depth left d can be had pretty cheap. This is pretty close though, you can rearrange the forward lines if you like, but I don't see any big changes coming before the season starts. Maybe a vet center that can take d zone starts and win a faceoff? It should be cheap and fill a need, but I doubt that's even a consideration.</div></div>
Sheahan is their vet center. He will be their 13th forward.

Out of all the centers on the roster outside of Sheahan he has the best skill set to be on a line with Girgensons and Okposo. It wouldn’t really be a 4th line it would be a line to matchup against other teams top 6.

Cozens has never played LW in the NHL, I’m not really sure why they have him listed as one. Skinner is LW 1 on the Sabres.

I had Toronto above Ottawa. I agree Ottawa defense is awful. As for the Sabres I’m expecting another jump. They have 2 first overall picks, hopefully a full healthy season of Samuelson. Lyubushkin is a nice add for their 3rd pair, it should be good.

Ottawa reminds me so much of the 15-16 Sabres. Got ROR, Kane Lehner on top of Eichel Reinhart, Ristolainen, but the team was so bad defensively. Ottawa defense hasn’t improved from last season which probably is going to be a problem.

No, both Detroit and Ottawa both got bored of their rebuilds and decided to speed things up which never works. Ottawa at least got star players so they have a better chance.
