Yzerplan - Trade Deadline master plan
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LordStanleysCup22</b></div><div>The only one past his prime is David Perron, Andrew Copp, Olli Maatta, Dominik Kubalik, Ville Husso are hardly past their prime. Husso+Nedeljkovic > > > > > Anderson+Comrie and it's not even close. Thinking that the current Buffalo team that has done nothing to improve their roster over Detroit is pure laughable.</div></div>
Yzerman got bored of Detroit’s rebuild even though they went 14-24-3 down the last 41 games of the season which was the same record as 32nd place Montreal. Spending 22 million dollars in free agency on 2nd and 3rd line players and giving a big contract to Chiarot to fix their awful defense isn’t going to make Detroit a playoff team. Baby steps let’s see if they can pass the Sabres in the standings this year.

Can Comrie do it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>*Please note, this isn't meant to dump on the Sabres*
My thoughts-The Sabres should see some solid growth from guys like JPP, Quinn, Cozens, etc., but do we realistically think this is a roster that's even close to the other teams that are going to be fighting for a wildcard spot (ie. Ottawa, Detroit, Boston in the Atlantic, Isles, Columbus, Caps in Metro).
I just don't see it...IMO, adding Comrie (big question mark), Power full time, and Boosh, while praying for positive development, doesn't get them even close to the 25ish point improvement that they'd need over last year to get a spot.
That being said, I think the Sabres will have a solid development year this year, before Pegula potentially opens the wallet next offseason.</div></div>
They aren’t a playoff team yet, but they are building the team the right way. Detroit Ottawa we’re bad teams last season that couldn’t even finish higher than the Sabres last year when they were projected to be the worst team in the League. I think if they can get 80 points and be above 500 along with more player growth will be a win this season.

22-23 standings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tea</b></div><div>Chiarot isn't great, but he does improve the defense. Edvinsson coming in should also make it better. Copp slots in as their 2c, which is something they desperately needed, and Perron, Kubalik, etc gives them a lot of depth to work with. Also Husso as their starter is not something to frown at. Overall, their offseason went fine, the Chiarot deal might age badly, but the other contracts were great. Plus, another year of experience for Raymond and Seider, and the apparent breakout of Larkin means they could easily be an underrated playoff team. Remember, they were a +0.500 team for the first few months last year before getting dragged down by injuries. Who knows what they can do if they're healthy.</div></div>
I don’t see it with them. I feel like they are at best an mid 80
Point team, I feel like Ottawa Detroit and Columbus made all these moves to just be a 500 team.

Florida should be lower, they lost a defencemen and have to say there defence doesn’t look that great anymore. Sure they have a few soild guys and one very good d man aka ekblad.
New Jersey above caps I don’t think so. Caps above devils. I also think jackets will have a better season so I’d put them above devils as well.
I think Vegas should be a above Seattle.
I think Detroit should be above Ottawa.</div></div>
Ottawa is better than Detroit. Both aren’t making the playoffs, but Ottawa at least got two star players. Detroit just gave out a bunch of money to 2nd liners and didn’t fix their horrible defense.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kxllua</b></div><div>Dawg your starting goalie is craig anderson i think im fairly rating them..
Olofsson is 27, probs will be entering his 30s by the time the sabers are real contenders. Fiala is miles better than olofsson and it cost a 1st and a prospect to acquire him, if anything, im being generous with olofsson.
The UPL deal is fine considering hes 23 and was once thought to be elite talent. Gives him two years at a cheap deal to prove himself, not like the cap is an issue for buffalo at the moment.
"Goes out of the way to make the team worse". Isnt that kind of the point? Like I said, sabers won't be contending anytime soon. Especially within the Atlantic division. You don't know your team as well as you think.</div></div>
Craig Anderson isn’t the staring goalie, but he did go 17-12-2 they can still win games. And no they aren’t tanking they are an average team at the moment they haven’t made any moves that show they are trying to lose like Arizona and Chicago.
UPL is in the AHL again this season he hasn’t played a lot of pro games because of injuries, but I’m sure he’s going to get 12-15 NHL games this season.

Eastern Conference 2022-23 Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tea</b></div><div>You're making a lot of assumptions about your team, and neglecting to mention any improvements on the Rangers, it's a pretty bad argument made for a point that I actually agree with
Yes, the Canes did add Burns, but they also lost DeAngelo, Cole, and Smith, which really hurts your defensive depth. You definitely can't say you improved defensively. Offensively, you did at Pacioretty, but you're losing Niederreiter, Trocheck, Domi, Lorentz, and Stepan. Your forward core isn't bad, per se, but having Kotkaniemi as your 2C is a significant risk.
Unless Laffy and Kakko somehow both regress from their playoff form, the Rangers have a better top 6, an arguably better defensive core, and a better starting goalie. I still think the Canes are a better team overall, but you shouldn't brush the Rangers of like they're a joke.</div></div>
Regress from playoff form? They combined for 14 points in 39 games. Chytil was the best player from that line.

I wasn’t saying Quinn was going to hit 60 I said he’s going to have a 35-40 point season. He’s going to be on the first power play and has a great shot so he will put up good numbers. Tuch will have a higher point per game than .50 I don’t think he’s going to regress from last season.

Tuch was on pace for 62 this year he will hit 70 having a full off-season will help. Cozens can easily score 25 goals. Quinn will probably have 35-40 points.
