Next Season
I am cool with adding some grit but we need to move on from Okposo, he is bar none the slowest guy on the team and he will be even slower next year. We need some true grit an nasti in this lineup

TDL - One Move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>A2023tdlGuesses</b></div><div>Berglund had a no trade, but paperwork error gave gm doug Armstrong a TINY window to move him, and he did, with Sobotka, a 1st, and Tage (iirc) for ory.
Berglund was so distraught he quit playing hockey. He literally just quit. There is no other 2nd/3rd line nhl center I’ve ever heard of who just quit.
This is was a bad choice by Doug Armstrong. It may have won his team the cup in Orielly earning a conn smythe, but he did the wrong thing.
Rich ppl (I’m implying owners) don’t forget this.
That being said, Berglund prob got too comfy. But still. Buf was sold bad goods.
Nobody, you, me, them, goes back to a vendor who sold them bad goods. There’s other vendors for things. We specifically do not get burned twice. We touch the fire and then stop touching it.
This is a life lesson for everybody. If you sell bad goods, you may win, but you will ultimately be burned. Doug Armstrong will eventually be fired, not because he’s bad, but because there are only 31 partners, and he set one on fire. Nobody else is blind. They do not want to be sold bad **** either.</div></div>
Okay this isn't Walmart man...GMs go back to the same trade partners over and over again. One weird situation isnt going to sour them for the rest of existence. If they have what you want and are willing to play ball, play ball.
Don't be silly lol

I don't think Jost signs for less than the $2.25M in salary he's making right now. For me, a bona fide 3rd line center for $2.5M+ isn't an exorbitant amount.

TDL - One More Time
Probably one of the best Koneckny offers I've seen.
Pretty fair value, however isn;t portillo looking at UFA? Aren;t his rights expiring and hes told the team hes going to UFA (ala RJ Umberger?) Its also maybe not the position they need. Hart, Sandstrom, Errson have all shown good game this year and are all young (Fedotov got held in Russia), so maybe Portillo doesn;t add much.
And maybe slightly worrying about the return is that every BUF fan seems to be moving LD Ryan Johnson (and PHI has Provorov, Sanheim, York, Zamula, Seeler, Hogberg, Ginning at LD already, which lessens how PHI sees Johnson) in trades and Mittelstadt is hard to analyze, as hes had some ups/downs and injuries and his expiring 2.5mil RFA status probably means you're overpaying to see if he can continue to be good.
Overall alot of good in that trade, and maybe one of the best value deals for Koneckny, but the prospects/player all have a bit of a caveat about them or some play positions NOT in need in PHI.

Bit More Grit
First, There may be UFA D-Men who would sign with Buffalo and we can keep Olofsson's 30 goals.
Second, it would be great is the Sabres could sign all of the UFA's and RFA's to those contracts.
Cozens, Dylan 8 $7,250,000 Considering Tage's contract this could be the right number. Many Sabre ACGM's think it will take more.
Jost, Tyson 1 $1,000,000 He has certainly pumped some energy into Casey. The only goals from yesterday came from that line. Buffalo may give him more if Casey and Victor continue playing well. For example that line has 25 pts in the last 14 games (145 over 82 games).
Asplund, Rasmus 1 $950,000 Sure he has not progressed this year.
Clague, Kale 1 $850,000 He has performed really well, he was a great signing.
Wood, Miles 4 $3,500,000 I wonder if he has the same passion for the Sabres that Tuch has demonstrated. If so this would be nice.
Okposo, Kyle 1 $1,500,000 He may accept as he has become a Buffalonian since signing with the Sabres.
Girgensons, Zemgus 1 $1,250,000 It may cost a bit more, other GM's know what he can do.
Your guesses are as good as any one.
Let's see how well you do next July.
Over all a very nice job.

Big Step Forward
The lines are a jumbled mess imo
But i like the moves you made for the most part
Think you may have overpaid for Konecny, but he’s a good young player- so ok, if that’s what we’ve gotta do to get him
I’d do the forward lines like:
Skinner-Tage-Tuch
Quinn-Cozens-Peterka
*no need to touch those 2 lines imo
Wood-Krebs-Konecny could end up being a real nice line too
Don’t think we need to get too drastic
But the moves u made seem in the ballpark of being reasonable at least
Not bad ideas

We're just clowning you. This comes up all the time with AGMs looking for one of the picks and thinking Columbus was way worse than they were last year. This actually isn't a bad offer, and assuming Jiricek/Nemec are gone by 6th, I could definitely see them swapping 6 for 9.

If the Pens decide they're not going to sign Heinen then that would be a fine return for his rights, but I think they're going to find a way to keep him.

Konecny is 100% an improvement over victor. Watching the two players actually play the game, TK bring way way way more than victor ever has. He plays the game hard, and is annoying to the other teams. Hes been trapped in the dump that is philly and he needs to get out.

Rust is boosted by Crosby. Olofsson would have 50G with Crosby. Hell, Rodrigues had 20 with him lol

Not someone most Sabres fans want to move. Just my opinion, but the team just needs to get harder to play against, and he's the odd man out. Can't move Krebs and any trade with Mittelstadt would be selling low on him.

Healthy olofsson can be a 30+ goal scorer. Play him with someone like asplund on the 3rd line and that stuff wouldn't matter.
