Sabres Fans Thoughts
My overall thought is the one player of yours I'd be willing to give picks and players for is a player you don't want to lose Rasmus Andersson.

I don't understand what Buffalo gets, but fine my counter offer is Tampa and Philly both send all their draft picks to the Sabres and we will draft for you.

What the Sabres need
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Trading Savoie, a 1st and 2nd for Hertl is a terrible idea and the exact opposite of what Buffalo needs.</div></div>
Sabres need a couple centers who can win faceoffs and play decent defense- yes if the Sabres were not coming out of the longest playoff drought in NHL history I'd just let Walberg and others mature but I really think the Sabres need the playoffs this year. As for SJ they are not close and really need draft picks and young players to build a young core.

Zegras for a hot minute
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoSeider53</b></div><div>:laugh Saying that Zegras is only 2% better than Casey Mittelstadt is a royal joke. It took Mittelstadt 5 seasons to hit the 59 point mark where Zegras has 61 and 65 points in years 2 and 3. Zegras is a country mile better than Mittelstadt will ever be.</div></div> Zegras should hire you as his agent- he's talented but I trade him for EEK because he just seems to lack something and ANA must have doubts otherwise why lowball him with a 3-4 mil offer.

Zegras for a hot minute
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>worldwidesensei</b></div><div>That's a lot for a 23-goal scorer. Sure, the potential for more is there, but he has serious defensive woes at this point. Savoie was also drafted #9 overall.
Not sure what Ducks fans expect for a 23-goal scorer. In this scenario, you'd be getting a player with just as much potential in Savoie, who would be on an ELC for 3 years, and more...
As a Sabres fan, I don't see the point in this trade. It's too much to give up.</div></div> He wants the Moon for a player who IMO is 2% better than Casey Mittelstadt, I love the center position of this team with EEK and Sturm.

Zegras is a 100 point potential guy (doesn't mean he ever hits it but he is supremely talented). EEK is not.</div></div>
That's why Minn takes him but he's not what the Sabres need, EEK is what the Sabres need- Zegras needs to be a 1C and he's not better than Thompson so not here.

Ottawa wants these 3 things in any trade for Shane Pinto
There are like 9 teams who are over the cap and has to make a move, 14 teams that would have to send out a dollar for every dollar they took in and about 9 teams who could possible take in some cap - so if any team thinks they are going to get rid of cap and be overpaid to do so they are living in a dream world.

Sabres could use someone to win faceoffs, be decent playing defense and have a little grit and not too expensive. I think Sturm checks most of those boxes

why are people picking them to miss the playoffs
They are a good team and built to be very good in the last 25% of the regular season and playoffs, they do lack a little overall speed which could hurt in the first part of the season, must avoid injuries but so do all teams.

Exactly and Calgary should really consider blowing it up - right now Calgary looks like a team that could just make the playoffs but not go very far or just miss the playoffs -Why am I willing to over pay for Anderson ? because while he's not the best his contract makes him the best for the Sabres Dahlin and Power have to be paid and Anderson's salary and contract length fit perfectly for the Sabres.

Faksa you can
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>-No idea why Buffalo gives up a 2nd rounder to take in $4.75M of defensive players here. Faksa is nothing more than a 3C/PK1 player getting paid middle-6 money, and Erik Johnson is completely capable of doing what Hakanpaa does without giving up any sort of assets to bring him in. Bad deal for the Sabres.
-Kupari was part of the PLD return; I assume that the Jets would want a big overpay to move him before he gets a chance to hit the ice for them. I think the 2024 2nd you gave Dallas would probably be enough to pry Kupari out, but again - what would the value be there?
-Boston probably declines, because while Jost is a perfectly fine player, he's also a finished product; while Beecher didn't look great in his first AHL season, he's still on his ELC and might have more upside than Jost at this point.
I also can't see Buffalo giving up all these assets and players to keep Okposo & Johnson in the press box while also burying $7.5M in Rochester. I know they have more than enough cap space, but I can't see an owner being happy sacrificing that much capital for minor upgrades in the bottom-6 and third pair.</div></div>
Kupari has been a bust up to this point although he's very good at face-offs and fairly physical but I think there is more there and Buffalo's system and coaches might have the very best chance to get it out of him. In my plan Okposo, E Johnson and Girgensons play about 45% of games and with a little luck are healthy and fresh for the playoff stretch.
