TOR would have to add here. But honestly its not a bad idea....
However I have to say this. We should be trying to run Mitch out of town. He actually played fine today. I think we should target someone like Pavelski and ship Holl and Engvall to Russia

If I was GM
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SadlyAnOilFan</b></div><div>It’s true Edmonton may have been inclined to do this, but at the time, Edmonton was right up against the cap. You’re talking about $10.8M worth of players, so even if you retain half ($5.4m), you also have to take on $5.4m in players. Are you willing to take James Neal? Kris Russell and another $1.5m player? Kassian had just been signed to an extension and Koskinen was running a .917 sv% so neither of them are options.
How much would it cost for you to take these players? And would Edmonton pay that? The trade is already costing 2 first round picks for players with only 1 year of additional term.
Sorry for going into depth, but the site is called CAPfriendly. Besides, how realistic of a fake GM do you want to be.</div></div>
Keep in mind Petry didn't exactly leave here on good terms. The whole reason he left Edmonton was the organization was a tire fire and the fans completely turned on him and ran him out of town. While the org has gotten better I would think Edmonton would still be the last place Petry would want to go.

1. Lindros had a huge beef with the teams owner
2. Other then then E. Kane (self explanatory) Trouba (who didn’t want to play in Canada) Laine (who had a beef with other Jets bout work ethic) and Rosy (who wanted more opportunity) the players the Jets drafted were both willing to stay and commit long term.. Scheif, Helle, Lowry, Morrissey, Ehlers, Conner to name a few… even the ones listed above the beef wasn’t about the city

where on this roster is the lowliest position to be
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SadlyAnOilFan</b></div><div>What is this? You know hockey is a team sport and you need people to fill certain roles. A 4LW/4RW can be counted on to kill penalties, forecheck, and the best of them set up the top two lines for shifts in the O-zone. Also teams can be very successful having 1B goalies that can play long stretches and steal games.
Good teams need talented players to play at the bottom of the roster.</div></div>
Our 4th line was one of reasons we were competitive with the bruins in the playoffs

(OTT/STL) - Brown and cond. 2022 4th for Sanford
Good and fair trade for both teams. Sanford was an expiring contract and a bit redundant with STL's forward group, especially with Tarasenko not being traded. Getting a buy-low prospect for him is a nice piece of business to both get some cap room for an actual bench and to swing on a young player. On Ottawa's end, it wouldn't surprise me if Sanford produces well with more ice time and becomes a relatively valuable deadline piece for more picks.

Way Too Early Season Predictions

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SadlyAnOilFan</b></div><div>Ugh Calgary?? Nope. It was much better before
I do like that you have the kings in 3rd, while Chicago in 3rd, FLA and CAR missing, and OTT just squeezing in makes this very interesting. I figure the east is a big crapshoot so the end of the season should be very close and very tense…I can’t wait.</div></div>
I think the wildcard spots in the East are going to FEROCIOUS this year. The 3rd in each east division might as well be a wildcard spot because there's so many good teams. I'm interested to see if Spencer Knight is the real deal, or if Bobrovsky just pulls out a Vezina year. I mostly went off of the bets that Ullmark and Hall put the Bruins over Florida and the Canes, and that the Lightning and Leafs maintain their dominant play.

A true checking line with at least the ability to score and have a shot at coming out even on the scoresheet. Haven't entered a season with that kind of legitimate expectation for a while - it's always been a mere hope that the bottom 6 treads water at all.

Three team trade with oilers and pens part 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Drshnuckels91</b></div><div>Lehner and vasy have had better seasons recently hoisting around 915 save percentages compared to gibsons 900. kuemper was severely overpaid as colorado was desperate for a goalie at the time and kuemper has in fact been better than gibson the last two seasons while arguably being on a worse team last year.</div></div>
My point in citing Lehner and Vassilevskiy was to point out the lack of merit in your implication that the length of Gibson's contract is a negative.
My point in citing Kuemper is that we're not talking about one year of Gibson vs. one year of Kuemper -- a fact you don't seem to comprehend. Time = value. You wouldn't pay the same for one year of John Marino as you would for six years of John Marino. John Gibson is no different.

Who adds here
It's not close. Olofsson has zero value to Edmonton. He's 4 years older and he SUCKS at 5v5 scoring, can't defend, isn't physical, etc.
It's not a question of who adds, this isn't a trade Edmonton considers for a second.

Absolute no from the Oil. Only Romanov really has top 4/top 6 potential there. Bouch and Holloway have strong top 4/6 potential and Lavoie is a helluva big body that can skate and score. The Oil need those 3. Other than Romanov, don't have a need for the rest.
None of it adds up.

Drai vs Matthews
In terms of goal scoring, Matthews is better no question: They both have the same number of goals (199) but Matthews got there in 334 games whereas Draisatl needed 478 games to get there.
Both of these players do have players that pad their numbers a little bit because there's no question that being with McDavid and Marner allows Matthews and Draisatl to score more goals.
In terms of contract, Draisatl is $3 million less than McDavid and lasts for more years so if you wanted to talk about value for contract, it would definitely be Draisatl.
But in terms of better player, I give my vote to Matthews > Draisatl.
