lol Rangers pass. Goodrow actually makes the Rangers money if they buy him out in the summer. There's zero incentive to trade him

Interesting deal with the Rangers if you swap Kakko with Goodrow.

Rust NYR 24-25
Despite the point totals (all of which are a result from being with Crosby/Guentzel), Rust has been pretty bad for about 3 seasons now tbh. Given the age + term, he's a cap dump more than anything.

He's a 4C... and you're giving up a top prospect and a 2nd?
and Rust honestly kinda sucks. Freeloading off of Crosby and Guentzel worse than Strome ever benefitted from Panarin.
I don't think Lundestrom is a bad target necessarily, but the cost is like a 3rd if that...

Do you seriously think a sample size of 17 in and out games where he played inconsistently is enough to convince a GM to pay a 2nd?</div></div>
Uh yeah you don't remember Lias Andersson getting a 2nd after scoring 1 point in 17 points playing very sporadically?

Yeah That price for a 4C is a joke and Duclair doesn't cost a sec. That's what you would pay for like Eberle

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>StDetroitBlueWings</b></div><div>Lmao whatever you say pal
Hayes unretained, sure. But retention for 3 years is not going to be happening for a mid round pick. Everyone says that cause the return Philly got. Philly was desperate to get rid of him since he didn't fit their culture/system. Past returns don't mean a thing</div></div>
Past returns are quite literally the best predictor of future returns.
But even before we consider that, it's already plenty of value.
I'm not sure which you want to use.
Petry getting about 5 mil retained returned a 4th and a waivers guy.
Hayes getting about 11 mil retained returned a 6th
Johansen getting 8 mil retained returned another waivers player
Burns getting about 8 mil retained returned a 3rd and a 4th liner.
So Hayes getting about 3.5 mil retained (2mil and change of actual $) getting a 3rd or 4th is actually pretty good value. And pretty far above any remotely comparable trade in recent memory.

Do you think GM's are going by points/game in terms of their evaluations?
That would be like thinking your heart surgeon is going on Web MD for advice...

I'll help you with a little math here bud. He's scoring a point every 44 minutes he's on the ice at even strength....
That's top 25 in the league rate, and he's doing that with a lot of 4L F's who provide no offense.

He's been our 7D for like 3 years now and has barely improved his point production and hasn't earned the coach's trust for more playing time. If you wanna fault the Rangers for this then that's fair but it's their responsibility to properly manage their assets and if they're not getting good value out of him then why would other teams overpay for him.</div></div>
Curious you're referring to his point production since he's currently 2nd behind Fox in terms of point rate among Ranger Dmen...

Which guys do you think are off? I agree it's slightly skewed though it evens out.
Goodrow has played better than Laughton this year.
Walker has played slightly better than Gustafsson this year.
There's not much of a D equivalent for Seeler on the Rangers.

I can't tell if you're saying 23 is old for a defenseman. I also can't tell if you watch the team, since he looks like the 3rd best Dman on the team every time he plays...
Though if you mean by "hasn't progressed all that much" you're referring to his playing time, In that regard I agree.

Although I don't think Seattle would be satisfied with just a 2nd for Eberle I really feel like we'll need to add Jones or another prospect in to sweeten the pot.</div></div>
Jones is not a throw in. He honestly should be playing every day. If you want to put in someone like Korczak or Lamb that's fine that's fine, but Jones is basically worth a 2nd rounder on his own.

Eberle's a good target though, Dermott is pretty solid too, but Jones is a better player.
No need to deal Jones or a 1st though, a 2nd for Eberle is fine.
There's not a C on the market that's better than Brodz, just go get Roslovic for a 4th for some insurance.
