Figured that would be the case for most Flyers fans. I like Sanheim a lot, long-term Dumoulin replacement for Pittsburgh and still relatively young.

Anyone else remember when Habs fans thought they’d get a haul from Dallas for that guy last summer (Bourque plus a first LOL, yeah SONK! how about Matheson and a fourth!) all the while acting like it was set in stone they had to replace Klingberg with another expensive righty. Jim Nill did the smart thing and traded a first for a prospect further along and more of a sure thing then a guy you just drafted, and headed in the opposite trajectory as a 35 year old Petry.</div></div>
To be honest, Matheson was an amazing pickup for Petry so I'm happy with that return. Petry is an excellent transition player and I honestly feel he would be a great fit with Heiskanen.
Lundkvist is mid and Dallas majorly overpaid for him.

I like the player as well. Could keep him for $1M on a two-year deal (assumed), sign someone cheaper at 3LW rather than Namestnikov. Only issue is that he's a 4th line caliber player, he will have to fight with Clutterbuck for ice time if the Isles want to make the playoffs.

There is some good news here, his cap hit for next year is 5 million, but his actual money owed is 3.5m. Sabres have excess cap space next season, Bailey can be put in the bottom 6 and for two picks that is good value for Buffalo.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>Boston might be tempted by that offer, but I doubt they consider moving Swayman before Ullmark. Gunler and 2 2nds to allow Nashville to get out of 75% of a rather unfavorable contract, I’m pretty sure Nashville takes that and runs. As for Leddy, the Blues are going to have to pay another team to take that contract. Besides, Canes would resign Ghost before even considering Leddy as an option.
As for signings, Wood can sign that contract somewhere else, cause the Canes likely won’t offer that. Canes don’t need EJ, as Chatfield is a better fit currently, and if Morrow plays next season EJ would be in the press box. Puljujarvi isn’t signing that, and while I doubt he gets the number on his QO, I doubt the Canes low ball that hard. 1.5-2mil should be a fair number. Coghlan is more than likely gone, and Staal will be brought back, and the same likely holds true for Patches.</div></div>
Opposite IMO, Boston has no business moving the potential Vezina winner over Swayman (who is an upcoming RFA). Allows Boston to recoup some young assets and the goaltending market is flush with backup talent, they have no issue replacing Swayman.
Agreed on Nashville, you can either buy out/pay some team to take Johansen, or recoup a few assets for Duchene.
Disagree on Leddy. I don't love the player but the market certainly seems to. Have a look at the assets he fetched in recent seasons with similar production to this year.
Why would Carolina not offer that contract to Wood? Potential 20-goal power winger who can slot in anywhere in the middle-6, provides an element that's lacking elsewhere int he lineup.
EJ is a nice bottom-pairing option for any team and worst case, can alternate in and out with Chatfield.
Puljujarvi has 14 points in 61 games, he isn't getting much more than league minimum even despite the fact that he has "draft pedigree".
Unsure about Staal being brought back or even being a solid fit. Kotkaniemi hasn't been as reliable as a 2C as originally hoped, Carolina needs a very solid 3C or a decent 2C (Duchene here) to allow them to roll 3 excellent lines.
Pacioretty tore the same Achilles twice in the matter of months, I don't think he's coming back anytime soon.

He still has a .914 back to back seasons thus far. He's a clear starter making league minimum.
If he's so bad, why is Vancouver trading for him? Isn't he barely backup quality? Or is it because you're a Habs fan, you're projecting your goalie struggles onto other teams?
Relax a bit. These aren't good trades, and you got called out. Cope with it or don't post at all.</div></div>
Do...you know how GSAx works? And do you know how standard save percentage works? I'm not sure. Vancouver is trading for him because Vegas wants a real starting goaltender (AKA Demko)

Good deal all around in my opinion. Seattle has so much depth on the wing, I don't think Sprong can replicate his current performance on the 4th line there. Isles shed some salary and get back a decent scoring winger with some speed, Seattle gains much-needed draft capital. Win-win

That's how you acquire top-tier talent. Vegas won't get anywhere with Logan Thompson as their starter. He's an average goaltender at best. Demko has top-15 starter pedrigree for the next 3 seasons and $5M is what Lehner was making.

That's not enough for Konecny.
Montreal trade is in no way bad. Look at what Detroit got for Vrana after a 50% retention; Mantha has negative trade value, as does Hoffman. It benefits Montreal because they get a hometown player as a reclamation project who they can likely retain on and flip on the deadline. It also allows Washington to recoup a draft pick and buy out Hoffman for less than it would have cost to move Mantha, and a lower buyout cap hit.
The LA trade gives both players a change of scenery. Turcotte has a higher ceiling than McMichael.

I guess we will have to wait until next year to get all of Winnipeg's 1sts, good thing they kept their pick this year since they're falling out of the playoffs anyways :(

If there ever was a time to move him, it was last trade deadline after he rolled into the all-star break rocking a 0.924 on the season. Verbeek decided to keep him, so it's clear he is hanging around.</div></div>
After 3 strong seasons in a row, GIbson has now been poor to awful for 4 years in a row. That's not very encouraging

I don't think so. Dahlin will come at a $9.5-$10M cap hit for 8 years. Power should be considerably less (probably a bridge deal at $5.5M-$6M).
I think Meier gets the same contract as Tkachuk (8 x $9.5M). The defencemen expire in 1.5 years and the cap should go up by then if escrow is repaid.

It most definitely will not be lower than DeBrincat. Meier's value has had all season long to build up, and now teams are looking to add a top-10
right winger in the LEAGUE for a playoff run and in the future.
DeBrincat's trade status wasn't even in play until the offseason.
Meier is a better player than DeBrincat and much more well-rounded. Teams covet elite goalscoring wingers with size and a power game. Keep in mind that DeBrincat's trade value doesn't look impressive at first glance, but that's a confirmed top-10 draft pick that came back in the trade (number 7).
Any team that's acquiring Meier is going to sign him to a long-term contract. DeBrincat still had 2 more RFA years before hitting UFA.
