Not saying he's not talented or that he's not going to be good. I'm just saying you should temper expectations for what he will be able to achieve at the NHL level. 5'9 Dmen don't generally thrive like that in the NHL. Also idk how up to date his listed weight is, but he's gonna need to add a good 30lbs to reasonably expect to survive the NHL at all.
Again, great talent, but putting him in the conversation with guys at the top of the draft is ridiculous imo. He would basically be the unicorn of all unicorns to become a legitimate top end Dman with his profile.

How many 5'9 Dmen have been true top players in the league? Outside of guys who played a million years ago names **** like "Lefty Jackson" or "Crash O'Dooley" or whatever people were called in the original 6 era. Guys like Krug or Spurgeon are about as good as it gets and neither player were stars at their peak.

2020 REDRAFT SPECIAL
This draft was so stupidly good for Ottawa. Stützle's the toast of the draft class, Sanderson is already Ottawa's top Dman this year, Greig has been getting better and better every year with top 6 talent, and that's just the 1st round. Jarventie, Sokolov and Kleven is a great haul for the 2nd round, Merilainen looks awesome in Finland this year. Even the 6th round saw them pick up a pair of productive young AHLers. Daoust has the makings of an AHL scoring C, and Rhino has already made his NHL debut.

The Seasons only 20 done
The team is 95% likely not getting sold mid season. These kind of things don't fall into place that quickly. As a result there's next to no chance we will see any changes to the coaching staff or front office this season, beyond maybe the team Firing DJ and just promoting Jack Capuano or Davis Payne. The team isn't gonna add a 2nd head coaching salary to the books while they are in the middle of consolidating everything for a sale.
On the whole, I agree with what you're saying tho. I don't give a crap who ends up buying the team, so long as I never have to hear about ownership troubles ever again, though I'd definitely prefer if Ryan Reynolds was involved because that'd just be dope.
I'd like to see a full rebuilding of the entire front office. Ottawa has been run by a skeleton crew for way too long, it's time to build a proper front office. They NEED to invest heavily into expanding the pro and amateur scouting departments, and especially the analytics department. The only guy id really care to hang on to in terms of the main front office is Ryan Bowness. He's young (below 40) and he's got a great background as a scout and he's been in the game his whole life. Could be a GM candidate imo. I imagine you see Alfie slide into a POHO role, he's very openly interested in a front office role. Definitely don't even mention Marc Bergevin, they need people who would be GOOD.
As for Coaching, I completely agree that they need an established winning NHL head coach. Right now Claude Julien seems like the best candidate, but there could be plenty of guys available this summer who aren't available right now.

Why would Ottawa re-sign Hamonic, especially to that number?
Also there's a 0% chance that a 5'9 180lb 18 year old is gonna come in and play down the middle when Ottawa has Tim Stützle.

If Coach DJ still thinks it is a good idea to not have any D on the powerplay
Tim Stützle coughing up the worst turnover I've ever seen and absolutely giving up in his back checking isn't a coaching problem.
I'm well past done with DJ, but I don't have any problem with going 5 forwards. Ottawa doesn't have a Dman who compares to getting Giroux and Stützle both out there. DJ isn't responsible for individual player lapses.

Don't know where you got that information, but everything I've seen said "at least a week" and didn't get any more specific than that. Not sure where you've gotten that it's a season ending injury from.

Yanni Gourde and OTT Trade
Swapping Joz and Holden for Dumo and Kapanen isn't a worthwhile move for Ottawa, certainly not if Ottawa is kicking in a 2nd to do it. Joz is 25 on a reasonable deal, he's definitely in the longer term plans for Ottawa, Dumo would be a rental D in a year the Sens are already out of the race. Holden and Kapanen are both minor parts in terms of value imo, but I would rather not have Kapanen than have him. Dude has lightning in his skates and cement in his brain.

Top Rookies based on WAR
What Sanderson has been doing this season has been remarkable, especially the way he's stepped up with Chabot and Zub out. He's been Ottawa's best Dman all season, and he's only been getting better as his role has increased, now playing 22-25 min a night like a 10 year pro. The fact that he's doing it under arguably the worst active NHL head coach makes it all the more impressive.
I don't think he'll win, because when do defense first Dmen ever win, but as of now he's EASILY a top 3 finalist. If you were handing it out today I'd be going Thompson-Sanderson-Power

Making Karlsson Hertl Trade Work

You can debate whether Hertl or Stützle is the better player in this moment, but Timmy is the better asset by a mile. Ottawa are giving the two younger, higher value assets in Cat and Tim.
