I'm not sure Dallas does that trade even if you take out the 1st Round Pick. I know they don't do that trade with the 1st Round Pick included.

Trade deadline predictions
"Hanifin goes to Dallas to get Flames a D prospect to replace Hanifin."
Harley is not a D prospect. He is currently 2nd in the NHL in Defenseman goals and has established himself as a pretty clear top pair defenseman for the Stars. Dallas doesn't trade him 1-for-1 for Hanifin, much less add a 1st Round Pick.

Value on the Stars trade is fair, but they’re still going to decline. With how well he’s played in the AHL, I can’t see Dallas moving Bourque, especially considering how much they need cheap scoring until Benn & Seguin’s contracts are up.

Yes. Yes it is. May wanna look at Bourque's numbers. Had a solid first year of pro hockey. Stars are doing well by him.
Draft position means nothing. Development is everything. Look no further than your head coach. HHOF and WAS NEVER DRAFTED.

Bichsel, Grushnikov, most of the defense prospects(could maybe trade Kyrou as he’s more of just a pure offensive guy and not really needed if the power play 2 is run by Harley or Nils already). Really if we want a solid 1-6 on defense in the future and want to avoid trying to bargain bin shop for washed veterans then we need guys that can skate well, pass and play well defensively too, in order to do that they need a large pool to draw from (unfortunately once the guys that don’t make it by a certain age have gotten to that point they have no trade value but it’s better than losing the opportunity to build a top to bottom solid defense corps).

Dobby is healthy. If Dobby could go to LTIR Dallas would have already signed Robertson for 8.5/8 and I wouldn’t have to listen to delusional Montreal fans talk about Dallas having to trade him for nothing cuz he hasn’t signed yet and preseason starts tomorrow and Dallas has no options but Montreal (who has even less cap space) has all the options in the world. Petry was totally worth Bourque and a first rounder. Crazy that didn’t happen 🙄🙄🙄

Robertson trade Even though the Stars would be dumb to do any trade for him
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JeffGorton</b></div><div>Oh like Debrincat
Robertson would be asking for a trade since he isnt signed, that lowers his value.
And Guhles ceiling top 2 d man, prospects arent judged on where they most likely will be but on how good can they possibly be. Thats called potential and he would be the 2nd best potential d man on the Stars after Heiskenan.
They also get 2 unprotected 2 first round picks, and a player who himself is worth another late 1st rounder (basing this on the Sens nearly sending 7th overall for Anderson and 26th)
Now leys compare to another trade, the Debrincat trade
Debrincat is better than Robertson in every way
His return was a 7th overall, a 2nd rounder and a 3rd rounder. The trade i put forth is higher value than what the Sens sent for Debrincat</div></div>
I knew you were going to bring up Debrincat - he has 1 year remaining at 6.4 mill and can take a 9 mill QO to UFA next offseason. I
Robertson has 4 RFA years left , plus he’s better than Debrincat. Robertson Is arguably the best left wing in the NHL.
Asking for a trade doesn’t lower value - Nils Lundkvist just requested a trade. Matthew Tkachuk essentially requested a trade. Both went for great returns.
I’ve read all the prospect reports on Guhle, at best he’s a #2 D, but his most likely scenario is a #3 D. Not enough offense to his game to drive a 1st pairing. Also have you considered Dallas needs in this trade? Obviously not. Their plan is to keep Heiskanen at LD, they also have Harley right behind him. Plus they just drafted Bischel. They have no need for Guhle. Slaf/Caufield or bust. Almost any team would give up their A caliber young wingers for Robertson.

Guhle is likely to be a #3 defenseman. He's not a can't miss future star.
Robertson is a superstar 23 YO winger with 4 years left of control. No Slaf/caufield and Dallas wouldn't even entertain it

If Dallas made him available, there is 0 chance a trade to MTL happens without one of caufield/slaf. Quantity over quality won't get it done.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SaucePass</b></div><div>Robertson is what you hope Slafkovsky becomes. I’d hate to get rid of Robertson. Throwing in the 23 1st though makes me accept.
I believe I just don’t see Us as a real contender. Build from the back to the front. Let Otter and Heiskanen mature another year. Build around Johnston, Stankhoven and Borque. Add in Slafkovsky and 23 1st and the offense could be absolutely lethal in 2-4 years.</div></div>
That is were I’m at as well. With the Benn and Seguin contracts, I think that locking up the future is just as important as watching the cap. It might be hard to sell the idea to the owner.
When you think about a top 5 ranked pick like Slafkovsky, you’d expect him to be a NHL player this year. Robertson cap hit could involve trades that would cost picks. The team possibly wouldn’t be as good this year coming year, but in a couple years, the team could be blazing.

Robertson trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JeffGorton</b></div><div>Suzuki isnt holding out on a contract. Suzuki is a future captain. Center is a higher value position than a winger.
Harley is nowhere near the same as Guhle. Harley has the same floor but way lower ceiling than Guhle. Anderson is better than Gurianov. And for the 1st, most likely a 6-10 pick in 2024. A stronger draft than 2022.
You also forgot about the Khudobin cap eating which easily costs a team a 2nd rounder at the very least</div></div>
You can tweak it the way you want, there is like 10 person on your post telling you you're way off, some not even Dallas fans.
Yes suzuki is under contract and play center but no matter how much dollars he sign for Robertson is worth it and as a much higher production rythm.
Maybe anderson is better than Gurianov but also older and more expensive for a longer period of time.
Yes Guhle should be better than Harley but both still has everything to prove in the NHL.
The pick cant be top 10 in 2023, top 5 in 2024 after your conditions, with that roster anyway its probably not even possible.

Cale makar, Adam fox, jack hughes, kirill kaprizov, miro heiskanen, and Nikita kucherov. You are failing to recognize the value of term and cap hit. Sure they may not be Matthew’s but on the trade market they’re more valuable. Let’s put it this way, would you rather have 2 years of Matthew’s or 7+ years of any of these guys. Matthew’s is the third best player in the world and holds a ton of value as a player, but in the salary cap era, cap hit and term is also a big factor in a players value. There are strong arguments for so many U25 players with 6+ years of term to be more valuable than matthews. If Matthews is extended, he is only less valuable than mcdavid and makar.

Horrible trade for both sides. Dallas will need those picks and prospects to stay competitive in the coming years. Matthews is amazing but I wouldn’t consider us a contender even with him so I’d honestly rather keep that SUBSTANTIAL futures package

Chris Drurys Fleecing Masterclass
I've maintained for a while now that any Bourque trade has to involve Braden Schneider or the Stars walk. Both are high-end prospects (top-6/top-4) with a solid past couple years of development. If Lundkvist is the key piece in a NYR/DAL trade package, then Dellandrea is the key piece going back to New York.

Trading with DAL
Lundkvist gets you Dellandrea. You say that Lundkvist holds value because of what he did in Sweden. Dellandrea holds the same value because of the season he just had in the AHL. If New York wants anything better than Dellandrea, then Braden Schneider has to be a part of the discussion.
A team doesn't trade away the top PPG scorer in the OHL, QMJHL, or WHL without acquiring a solid, potentially core piece in return.
