Offseason Rebranding
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>That is a completely baseless take. Also terrible play? Did you expect his SV% to go up after they traded away Hanifin and Tanev?</div></div>
lmfao how is that a baseless take one year older one less playoff run no idea how hes gonna keep hold up. No but his GSAA has tanked like 25% in a month. Calgary's ownership dropped the ball holding onto him

Offseason Rebranding
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>That won't get you Markstrom</div></div>
Markstrom lost at least 1/3rd but probably half of his value by them not trading him this season I don't know what flames fans expect to get for him especially after his terrible play the last month

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>I never think physicality when thinking about Meier, but sure. Tuch was one of the premier young power forwards in the game when the Sabres traded for him. That’s a big reason why he was a required piece in return for Eichel.</div></div>
Meier 532GP 908 Hits Tuch 445GP 457 hits so not more physical I think Tuch is a better passer while Meier is the better goal scorer

I guess that’s why they are trying to trade for him. Conveniently, you’ve also ignored the better comparison I tried to make with Jason Arnott.</div></div>
Didn't ignore just an old comparison that is also bad because Arnott was a 1c on a cup winner whil Tuch has had 1 season where he wasn't a 50 point player.

Calm down
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>Asking about Alex Tuch is a lot like Buffalo asking about the availability of Jack Hughes, or perhaps more accurately a player like Jason Arnott used to be. Some players are worth more than their numbers, and it doesn’t matter what someone is offering, he’s not for sale.</div></div>
Jack Hughes comparison is crazy

Devils
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>If it’s the deadline and Casey is tearing up the AHL, Nemec Luke Siegs Hamilton and Bahl look quality, sure move Marino in a hockey trade.
But after all the defensive injuries this year I can’t justify moving Marino. Let Casey get top pair minutes and PP/PK time in the AHL, and have him as an ace in the hole in case of injury</div></div>
I understand the logic I'm just saying if a LHD or 3c is available for Marino I take it

I think there’s no downside to keeping Marino next year. Let him bounce back, take top PK time, help us, and then we see what to do with him after.
Unless an offer wows us I wouldn’t move him</div></div>
I'd normally agree but Luke and Nemec are more than good enough to be top 4 D next year they're for sure the exception to the rule IMO I wouldn't be looking to move marino unless its a good offer obviously he's a good player but probably a luxury as soon as next year

I just look at it as Nemec takes a huge step next year and is that guy very very high on him I could see him and Hamilton playing 22-24 each next year and heavily shelter Casey or sign a bottom pair D in UFA

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>So what about Struble or Harris +? Or Evans +?
Edit** also said it could be Newhook instead of Matheson</div></div>
Nah Harris and Struble aren't close to Marino and aren't that much younger Evans is a good bottom 6 guy but isn't a good 3c on contending team. Devils don't need picks or prospects Marino is a young top 4 RHD with term at a good cap hit can't see the devils letting that go for quantity gotta be a hockey trade unless casey is signing this week then maybe I could see them trading him for a 1st like pick 20ish at the draft.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>Fair enough, was just thinking that Hamilton and Nemec would likely be the Devils top 2 RD next year and playing Marino at 3RD wouldn't be ideal since there is only so much ice time to go around, even if it would make for a really great RD lineup.
Edit** so if not Matheson, what would the Devils be looking for?</div></div>
LD of similar skill and age or high end 3c

If I put aside my Anaheim bias, I can see that the offer is entirely defensible as both fair and realistic.</div></div>
I think Verbeek would take it purely based off Mercer playing more of the style he likes that being said its why the devils shouldnt offer it don't need even more soft skill

I understand the point you're trying to make but I wouldn't say thats particularly close considering that Ottawa tries their best to keep Joseph on their 3rd line and NJ wants Holtz to succeed at all costs.
Add to that the new contract that's in order next year.. with all due respect it's a pass. Jospeh is a known commodity with a set price.</div></div>
Holtz has been in the dog house all year I wouldn't say they're exactly trying to get him to succeed at all cost playing him on the 4th line with no PP basically every game this year

he's incredibly streaky and probably tops out at a 60 point center in his best years I'd look else where sabres IMO need to find a balance last year it was all offense no defense this year they gave up so much of that offense to play mediocre D

Guhle for Mercer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Headhack</b></div><div>Guhle still has 1 year on its entry level contract as Mercer is RFA at the end of this year.
I would probably argue that New Jersey is giving more than a 5th, Mercer is playing on your 3rd line with potential of second line as Guhle is already playing 1st pair minutes.
Wouldn't mind Holtz instead of Mercer but here again would need extra compensation not much tho</div></div>
Mercer plays up and down the line up all year he's very much a top 6 forward and one of the better even strength goal scorers in the league what has guhle done with top pair minutes besides play them?
