<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>NHL GMs have to decide what DeBrincat's cap value is in his new contract. His next contract should not be based on what Ottawa paid for in acquiring him.
I don't know why the Wings do that trade.....they can sign an UFA for the same value, without giving up anything.
Sens and DeBrincat might find themselves in situation it's just QO this summer. DeBrincat hopes for a bigger contract as a UFA, Sens gets DeBrincat for one more year, or maybe even trade him at TDL.</div></div>
Because Detroit gets him now and a chance to sign him to a multi year deal without other UFA teams bidding on him.

I mean if you can sign him long term to 9M you do that in a heartbeat and worry about the other stuff later. Him wanting out is just pure speculation on your part</div></div>
Correct. 9 goals 5/5. He still hasn’t been very good.
Yes it is speculation, but this whole ACGM forum is based on speculation. Thanks for pointing that out.

He hasn’t been very good. 4 goals at 5 on 5.
Agreed, Norris will be a big upgrade. But if Cat decides to do 1year QO and then walks, I’d rather get something for him now and 9M handcuffs this roster next year. Plus I don’t think he wants to sign longterm in Ottawa.

He doesn’t fit in Ott. We can use the $9 cap hit more efficiently for higher priority needs.

He’s a home town guy. Yzerman can sign him to longer deal at a better AAV.

Take what you can get for Cat. Futures are fine. Use the spare cap space to fill priority needs.

I think everyone is overestimating what Pinto will get. Great young player, but he has no leverage. I think PD gets a short term deal under $2M.

Sens will be pretty strapped against cap for next year with Nino and Chychrun added. Basically means Sogard takes full time backup role to Forsberg.

Just cause Arizona is asking for it, don't mean they're gonna get it. They're clearly aiming very high.

Ottawa can’t just attract and sign any UFA they want. Trade and sign is a good option for them to secure a top 4RD for next year. And yes, Cat is worth less at $9M vs $6.4M cap hit. That’s pretty basic economics.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KINGS67</b></div><div>Why are people trading Chabot?</div></div>
Mostly because they’re gonna be tight against the cap with pretty much the same roster… if they keep Cat. Something has to change to make playoffs and Chabot is an easy target at $8M AAV.

Keep Cat get Durzi
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Lol ok so let me get this straight. One of the like 4-5 teams in the league that aren't right up against the cap ceiling next year are just going to casually help Ottawa out instead of charging premium because he's owed 2.5M? Bottom feeder teams are going to have no issue reaching the floor next year so explain to me what their incentive is for helping Ottawa. In the case of Anaheim assuming both Terry and Zegras get contracts around 8M that puts them at ~56M and 14 players under contract. The cap floor will be about 62M so with just filling the last 9 roster slots they can easily reach the floor</div></div>
2nd is plenty. Next
