He barely missed 70 bud. The only time he's gotten less than 50 points is during the lockout in 2013. He got 45 points in 49 games... did you even consider the current state of the team he is on? Yeah, anything over 60 points is great you moron

He's still a top 10 center. He is still 90 overall good. 89 at least.

Based on Sagecolls idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sagecoll</b></div><div>The main problem here is bringing in aging UFA's with TERM to block prospects who are basically NHL and need NHL playing time. Dillon for 3 years means Miller not getting into the top 4 for awhile and Robertson not touching the NHL for 3 years. Gudas for 2 years means Lundkvist not coming up for 2 years. Both of those things are big problems.
Not to mention keeping Gauthier on the 4th line which is something you'd like to avoid with someone of his ceiling, as well as Fast keeping Kravtsov out of the NHL.
Aside from the Eichel trade, the main idea was to give our prospects room to develop with elite players dragging them along and improving them, as opposed to blocking them from opportunities.</div></div>
Those guys are and will be tradable in 2-3 years and if not buyouts wouldn't be bad.
The problem you are forgetting with trading for Eichel is he wants to win now. He doesn't want to wait another 3 years or else he'd just stay in Buffalo. NYR are in a position where they can be legit contenders if the right moves are made.
They can trade Dillon if Miller is ready to squeeze in kind of like 2012 LA Kings when they trade Johnson and Voynov was ready to take his spot.

Value is definitely accurate and I can see Kakko and Trouba being tradable. I think both teams accept. I think you need to do something about 2LD though. Like maybe Dillon or someone like that.

The last thing Sharks need to do is make another huge trade for a star player. I feel bad for the GM that replaces Doug Wilson. Itll take him 5 years to make up for Wilson's mistakes.

Kyle Dubas needs to be fired
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drewjenkins</b></div><div><strong>Kyle Dubas:</strong>
1. Traded for Ceci to save Toronto from Zaitsev's crippling 6-year contract <strong>(that Lamoriello signed)</strong>
2. Traded a 1st to save Toronto from Marleau's crippling $6,250,000 contract <strong>(that Lamoriello signed)</strong>
3. Traded for our best defensive d-man (Jake Muzzin) and re-signed him to a good contract.
4. Traded for a goalie (Campbell) that had just signed a (far) below market value extension.
5. Signed Kapanen, Johnsson and Kerfoot to multi-year extensions at below market-value.
6. Signed Jason Spezza to a league minimum contract.
7. Acquired John Tavares without giving up any assets.
8. Acquired Ilya Mikheyev without giving up any assets.
9. Acquired Miko Lehtonen without giving up any assets.
10. Drafted Rasmus Sandin 29th overall.
11. Drafted Nick Robertson 53rd overall.
<strong>And sure ... Dubas definitely overpaid Matthews + Marner by a total of about $2,000,000 ... but you know what? </strong>
Mikheyev's value vs cost made up for that entire $2,000,000 this season (all by itself).
And his extension should be reasonable, so he'll probably continue that (all by himself).
I could also mention that Nylander looks primed to out-perform his contract.
I could also mention that Kapanen looks primed to out-perform his contract.
I could also mention that Sandin and Robertson will be steals on their ELC's.
<strong>But you're right ... he should have just traded Matthews + Marner because they had good agents ... right? </strong></div></div>
4. Jack Campbell sucks(not as bad as he used to be, but not that good either) he is not "far below market value" he could end up being overplayed if he flops again.
5. Kapanen and Johnsson are not below market value, I don't know where you get that from. Adrien Kempe has basically gotten 3, 30 point seasons while one of them was barely missed 40, he is getting paid 2M for 3 years. See Alex Iafallo as well. There are many others. Of course anything less than 5M sounds cheap to a Leafs fan.
6+7. Tavares and Spezza are Toronto boys so that wasn't hard or impressive by Dubas.
8. Mikheyev was injured for almost all of the season so why don't you give it another year before you start counting that.
9. Lehtonen hasn't played yet, slow down tiger, it's the NHL.
Everything after that is just a matter of opinion, time will tell.
Do you even know what market value is?

He made a mistake, he didn't hit his stride until after he signed his contract. He had a great rookie year and then two years of not great numbers and signed long term. It had nothing to do with greed or wanting to win. Same with Pastrnak, who has openly said if he could have done things different he would have gone shorter term on his 1st deal out of ELC. Why? Because they both terrible short changed themselves.</div></div>
That's false. Not everybody needs or wants the biggest contract. It's greed and ego and doesn't belong in hockey.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>So because no one is calling for Lou to get fired from the Islanders, (some of this is not on his shoulders) here is how he is currently spending 45.5 Million.
Lee (about to turn 30 with 6 more years of term) 7 Million
Nelson (turning 29 this year with 5 more years of term) 6 million
Eberle (30 years old with 4 more years of term) 5.5 million
Laad (over 30 3 more years of term) 5.5 million
Bailey (over 30 4 more years of term) 5 Million
Paguea (turning 28 with 6 years term) 5 Million
Boychuck (30+ 2 more years term) 6 million
Leddy (turning 30 2 more years of term) 5.5 million
I would take Matthews, JT, Marner, Nylander and Rielly over that group 100 out of 100 times.</div></div>
Most of those guys were already signed when he took the job...

Why would marner take less on his deal when Lou already screwed out of his Performance A bonuses? Cost him a few million dollars at least.
Also, would you want to take less money to play for a coach you don't like/hate for the duration of your contract?
I still don't love the Marner deal, but has been mentioned in this thread a few times, better to pay your stars the extra million then the Matt Martins of the world.</div></div>
It doesn't matter, it's still a team paying 3 players 33,527,000. They can't pay there stars extra money if they want to contend lol

I am certain everyone who wants them to fail more than they want their team to succeed (there are more of those than there are Leaf fans) will say they are surprised but thats just emotions. The team has elite players everywhere in their lineup, apart from defenceman that shoot right handed. St Louis didn't have any allstars at LHD last year but still won. Somehow you can only win if you 1) don't play for TO and 2) have an elite RHD. Like when Pittsburgh won when Letang was gone for the whole playoffs and Hainsey was their best defenceman, that team had so many Elite Right handed defenceman.</div></div>
Right, add Rielly and you got about 46M, I forgot to include him in my comment.
Yes, I would be surprised because they have about 10 other teams better than them.

I think this years team is better than last year's which would have beat the eventual cup finalists if they didn't forget how to PK, or if Kadri doesn't get booted.
If the cap rises to $84M they have no problem upgrading their RHD, they don't need Nick Lidstrom to put them over the top. A guy like C. Murphy, M. Weegar, etc is the only upgrade Leafs need on backend. Rielly, Muzzin, Dermott and Sandin is a perfectly capable Dcore moving forward.
Pay your forwards, draft your dmen high in the draft. It's the route Leafs are going to end up taking, come back here at the end of this 5 year stretch and then you can opine on if it was successful or not, before that point, it's very premature.</div></div>
The cap will not go to 84M, have you been living under a rock??
The only mindless people are Leafs fans not capable of understanding how screwed there team is.
