It’s strange to assume that being 34 makes you a poor player (Ovechkin is a 34 year old wing...)
They also gain 2.5mil in space with these moves. You’re overvaluing your assets and while I may not be a GM, at least I’m not a keyboard warrior.</div></div>
Both Scandella and Sobotka are on the last year of the their contracts.. so Buffalo can save all $7.5 million at the end of their year..
I love Ovechkin (arguably one of the greatest players of all time) is your argument for why Carter who only had 33 pts last year and still has 3 years left on a $5.2 million/year contract.. you really wanna be paying him that when he is 36 and 37 nah..
If Borgen can't break the line up then yea they should trade him but don't give him away for nothing.. and "over-valuing" my assets?! If anything you are over-valuing 5th and 7th round picks two of which are 2 years from now.. Peter Chiarelli taught you well.

so let me get this straight.. you want to trade:
Scandella, Sobotka, Borgen, 2nd,4th,5th, and 6th
for
a 34 year old center a 5th and two 7ths????
i'm glad you're not a GM

damn i forgot to load up the trade with pointles-- i mean meaningful 6th and 7th round picks that are obviously the thing that help all trades get made.

What they need to do in order to keep McDavid
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>Did you really just say irregardless?</div></div>
no... i wrote it
Irregardless is a nonstandard synonym for regardless, which means “without concern as to advice, warning, or hardship,” or “heedless.” Its nonstandard status is due to the double negative construction of the prefix ir- with the suffix -less. ... The bottom line is that irregardless is indeed a word, albeit a clunky one ~ Dictionary.com

IF he were to want a trade.. and IF he were to force one... then EDM still gets the biggest King's Ransom in NHL History irregardless of whether or not its known McDavid is forcing it.. EVERY team in the league would want him and do almost whatever it would take to get him.. (the younger he is the truer this is)
It would have to be in the neighborhood of: That team's 1C, 1D, Highest Prospect and at least a couple 1st Round picks.. think Eichel, Dahlin, 1st Round Pick x 2 for a team like BUF to compete.. granted BUF wouldn't do that but other teams would.. (I'm just most familiar with BUF)

to be honest i based it off some "rumors" here in Buffalo by the talking heads.. just that it sounds like Vegas and Gusev are far apart and that Buffalo should try to swing a trade..

you have the cap space.. you should just stuff Sobotka in the minors for 1 year so you don't have the extra cap hit next year. I want nothing to do with Vesey.. Hoffman is good but ERod is a fantastic role player. Also the latest rumor is that McCabe would go back for Hoffman.. which i wouldn't want either.. Why give up Risto for a guy you would put on your 4th line? Neigh I say to these trades.. NEIGH!!!

He would sign it because either he gets $10,565,000 with NY taxes OR TBL matches and he gets it with FLA taxes.... or lack there of..

NJD are not trading Hall period. They just traded for Subban for 2 reasons. 1. To make a playoff push this year and 2. As a bargaining chip in resigning Hall long term. Showing him they are willing to make the moves to win now.
Even then your trade for Hall is nowhere close to enough. It would take something along the lines of Mittlestadt and a 1st round pick as just the foundation of the trade.

Does this work
the speculation is that Marner might want a Matthews type contract 5ish years @ 10.5 or so.. that gets him to UFA.. where he can then make $12-$13 million when the cap is even higher.. either way he costs you AT LEAST 10.5 but i believe they offered him that @ 8 years.. so its either the term or he wants 11m+

You are paying Olofsson, Thompson, ERod, Pilut, Ullmark, Nelson and Bogo WAY to much.. Reinhart will be 8-8.5 Mittelstadt could be about right McCabe will be closer to 2.5-2.75.. Forget about Vesey But i do like the trades you have. But if it was me i'd do Elhers only and keep Reinhart on the wing.. then sign or trade for a 2C. Decent job though.

he's probably WORTH 9.75m but he's very young and an RFA.. he's going to GET 10.5+ and for TOR to not match its gonna TAKE 11m+

Offseason to end the Draught
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMTD</b></div><div>Very nice. I would not have thought of moving Okposo to make space to sign Duchene,
We all have a different evaluation of the Sabre talent so yours may be better than mine, but here is my pea brain evaluation.
Larsson and Girgensons are nearly equal. Girgensons is a little more physical, Larsson is a better center, I think their trade value would be about the same.
I think Scandella has some value, but your concept is fair and maybe what it takes to move his $4,000,000 contract.
This site was developed by examining the trades GM's made to exchange draft picks <a href="https://www.broadstreethockey.com/2013/4/25/4262594/nhl-draft-pick-value-trading-up" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.broadstreethockey.com/2013/4/25/4262594/nhl-draft-pick-value-trading-up</a> Buffalo's 2 first round picks is a bit of an over payment based on this data. Asplund, Rasmus and Thompson, Tage could be taken out of the trade. As a matter of fact, using that site to make the trade fair Colorado would need to add Ottawa's 3rd round pick.
IMO Tampa would love that trade.
While i think Okposo has value if used properly, giving up a first round draft pick to make room for Duchene seems to make sense.
Over all very plausible as I think Buffalo is over paying in nearly every trade, but as I said, I may be overvaluing the Sabre assets.</div></div>
Very possible i think i always air on the side of slight overpayment as far as trades go (why i'm just and armchair GM lmao) but i hate trades you see like Okposo and a fourth for Brayden Point.. stuff like that.. so i'd rather overpay a bit, to ensure a more realistic trade proposal.

Offseason to end the Draught
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tank20820</b></div><div>Then does that mean Dahlin eventually moves to RD?
Realistically I can see buffalo taking Caufield. Him and Eichel would be a good combo (looking past the defensive problems)</div></div>
nah i think you have Dahlin stay LD on the 1st pair and eventually Byram LD on the 2nd pair.. both making whomever they are partnered with better.. then buffalo has an elite top 4. My only hesitation with Caufield is that he played with Hughes almost exclusively so how much of Caufield's production was just based on that alone.. but that being said after Byram, Caufield would probably be my next pick..

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tank20820</b></div><div>Obviously overlooked it. I can see Bryam somehow dropping to 5. Hawks are kinda ok at depth with LDs, Colorado could take Dach, have an awesome 1C 2C tandem in a couple years.
Weirder things have happened so anything's possible. Would mean giving up less too.</div></div>
I think if Byram gets to LAK @ 5 they take him for sure.. but you're right anything could happen. To me getting Byram would be the best case scenario for Buffalo in the 1st round
