What Skinner, Pacioretty, or Karlsson would cost from the Penguins
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ShafferPens</b></div><div>Actually it’s Jordy Bellerive whose interesting. Really good center prospect who is 19yo. He’s going to be playing for Canada’s World Junior Team this year. He’s going to be really good, and that’s who I’m trading for Pacioretty. Hagelin is a cap piece.</div></div>
Well, that makes more sense; thanks for the clarity.

Kings Fans?
Left handed people can play on the right side. Hence why not all RW are righty and not all left wings are lefty. Same applies on defense.
Examples. Alec Martinez in LA lefty plays rightside, Sami Vatanen Righty plays left side. Trevor Daley lefty also plays right side.
Oleksiak played the right side in Dallas and that versatility is one of the reasons the Pens traded for him. Most defenseman don't like playing on their off side but some prefer it.
I don't think the trade is bad at all and would be a decent haul for the pens but I don't think LA would have to give up two draft picks if they are taking hunwick. A top 4 d and a young top 6 wing for kessel and hunwick isn't bad by itself. If you want the draft picks Tanner Pearson probably instead of Toffoli
The cap may get tricky after next season though with this move

I like the the De Haan signing.... ive been eyeing him since deadline chatter and hoping he'd still be ava in FA
But my 1st choice would be J.Moore - NJD with his speed would be a nice fit here.

Letang = Montreal
Respectful no thanks from MTL. Letang is definitely <strong>far </strong>better than Petry, but is upgrading Petry, which should not be in the top 5 things that need to be fixed on the Habs, worth giving up Gallagher and some picks. nope. and really don't care for Sheary.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>Definitely a fair trade in moving sheary + maatta for domi + hjlarmerson. But, I’m not sure if I’d make it. Next season we’d have a hole in our top 4 LHD, however, if we sign a college FA like Daniel Brickley to potentially play in our top 4 then I think this trade would work out niceless.
Also, I’m not a fan of moving Sheehan just to dump hunwick. I like Sheehan as a fit for our fourth line.
Overall not bad but I’d really like some insurance for our 2LD the following season. Let’s hope we land brickley!!!</div></div>
Dan Brickley actually signed with L.A. a few days ago! So that wont work.

Offseason Blockbuster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hpatton</b></div><div>yeah, cause goals scored is obviously the only factor anyone should look at...</div></div>
Of course it's not the only factor, but probably the factor that has the biggest effect. Last time I checked, a hockey game is won by making more goals than the opponent does. And if you score only a half of the amount you're expected to be able to score, you cannot exactly call the player's season that successful. And if player isn't that successful, the player won't earn that good of a contract. It's common sense, really.

Offseason Blockbuster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OIlers4Life</b></div><div>Max Domi needs to get paid more than that</div></div>
I disagree. A forward that scores about 10 goals in season shouldn't earn that much - especially if the deal is for only one year like that is.

I mean I think I, along with most of the fanbase, would probably rather Sheary than a 2nd round pick. But I guess it depends on what Melnyk wants in terms of the bottom line lol

Great deals. Really don't want to see Gustavsson traded but you got to do what you got to do in order to win cups. Murray, Jarry, and D'Orio are fine anyway :awesome

My Understanding: Plan B
Honestly i'd take the Cullen and Grabner. No need to sell the farm to get Kane. Grabner's speed will be useful and have a better chance at resigning him as opposed to Kane.
The argument for Kane is that we don't have a forward like him. Big strong, fast and still young but has his own issues. you'd have to choose between him and Hornqvist most likely.

Playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ShafferPens</b></div><div>Welcome back! I did read this on proposal on HF earlier ... I don’t know what Gionta does for us. I think Pouliot(BUF) for our 2019 3rd is fair.</div></div>
I tried to play with E. Kane but I don't want him. Could be a bigger problem in the locker room and mess with chemistry.
Gionta is another guy for us to rally around and depending on how the Olympics go he should be ready to play. AND skate since they are on olympic ice and I doubt he has lost his scoring touch. I could see him as a guy you could move up and down the lineup. I suspect Gionta is going to want to win a cup over setting himself up for a deal next year.... If he wins a cup, a contract offer will follow. Also strong playoff stats.
Pouliot would be an interesting add. I don't see him starting though, not even over Sheary. He had one good playoffs- with NYR. Others he didn't do anything.

Pittsburgh Penguins 2018 Trade Deadline
A 2nd round pick is too much to give up for a 4th line center, especially a rental. 4th rounder, and maybe a C-level prospect too would be much more realistic.

Minor move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ShafferPens</b></div><div>I don’t see why CAR would want to retain on Kruger when he only costs them ~1m in cap space while in the AHL.</div></div>
cap wise yes. Actual Salary wise no. If Canes dont want to pay him NHL money to sit in the AHL, retaining his Salary and trading him would be cheaper financially, They would have dead cap space but dont have to worry about paying his 3.475m. Actual 1 way contract salary isnt shaved off when a player is sent to AHL. He still gets his cash
I won't be shocked to see Kruger moved at the deadline with salary retained. Canes are not a high budget team so this will save them money
