Sundqvist for $775K. No idea why he would choose the Blues, instead.
Players are wary of that bigger payday. Coming cheap.

Probably not. Considering the tight Cap situation, as well as the fact that they reeled in numerous names for under $1M each, that maybe one of these guys would follow suit.

I know the retention helps. But the fact that every team in the League had a chance to pick this guy up for FREE off the garbage heap...and STILL passed on him...is very telling of how everyone views his current potential.

While I would prefer one of Othmann or Cuylle to make the Roster and push Pitlick to 13F, this is pretty spot on.

Opening Night
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jimbo1119</b></div><div>How about putting him in the PP slot Kane had end of last year?
Comes down to whether Lav looks to placate his vets OR do what's best for the longer term picture. Of course if LaF was inserted on PP1 he would have to perform. But he would need a generous window of opportunity to show he belongs (or doesn't belong) there. And the important thing to realize is that IF he is given PP1 opportunity and shows to fit in there, the resulting production should generate confidence and assertiveness which should REALLY benefit whatever line he is on (1st, 2nd or 3rd).</div></div>
4 spots are taken on PP1. Panarin, Kreider, Zibenejad and Fox.
For the 5th spot, he has to be better than: Trocheck (more of a 2 way player), Wheeler (36 years old), Chytil (currently ahead of Lafreniere developmentally), and Kakko (closest in standing, but better at winning puck battles).
If he can legitimately outperform all those players to earn the 5th spot, he'll have every opportunity you want him to have. If not, the blame is on him.

1OA status aside, anyone throwing out an OS that high for a kid that hasn't hit 20 Goals or 40 Points yet needs to have their head examined. Especially during another stagnant Cap year.

1OA status or not, no one is throwing out an OS that high for a kid that hasn't hit 20 Goals or 40 Points yet.
Especially with Cap space so tight.
If the Blackhawks want to do it, go ahead. I'll gladly take your Top 10 Pick (maybe Top 5) in the next Draft.

They lean heavily on the Top Power Play unit, yes. But it's because they're effective. And there is no one on that unit he could jump over.
When he was a kid fresh out of the Draft, that was understandable. As he now enters his 4th year, there are no more excuses. Both physically and mentally, he's had enough time to improve all his attributes and really show what he can do.
Can't always blame the Coaching staff for everything. Especially while on a competitive team. Any other Coach that would have been here would have given more ice time to their Top players. When Panarin averages over 90 points over each of the last 2 Seasons, while Kreider averages about 45 Goals over the last 2 Seasons, they've earned more opportunities than a kid who has topped out at 40 total Points.
Time for him to set himself apart.

At some point, he needs to find another gear to up his production. He hasn't been bad, but he hasn't done enough to warrant anything larger than this off his ELC.
The farther he gets from his Draft date while putting up the #'s he has been, the less weight his 1OA status carries.

Some decisions need to be made, then. Sitting Jones in the Press Box every game does nothing to help him or help raise his stock.
If he isn't an everyday player, then Hartford makes more sense.
Drury can either hope that his value is low enough for him to pass through waivers (possible), or work out some deal for him to try his luck elsewhere.

Still a pretty realistic and viable option. If the Buyout has to happen, then so be it.
But I still like the player and his versatility. If there is a way to keep him in the fold, I would prefer to do so.

I've had Brassard signed in some of my recent posts, as well.

Lafreniere is not signing for $2.4m
K’Andre Miller is a major offer sheet candidate and will likely be pushing for a long term deal (which you’ve got the right idea on) as opposed to a bridge deal and it will likely take more than $5.5m to accomplish that. I could see a team offering upwards of $6.5m-$7m a year.</div></div>
Everyone keeps saying that. But outside of his 1OA status, he hasn't performed all that different from Kakko or Chytil before they signed similar Bridge deals. I think $2.4M at this stage is in the ballpark.

Offer Sheets are a rarity. Cap Space around the League is scarce. On top of the fact that he hasn't really shown enough to warrant that deal.
Outside of Kotkaniemi, there have been a couple dozen players over the years that were rumored to get an OS. And year after year, they never happen.
Not concerned at all. Perhaps a little more if it were Miller. But not Lafreniere, at this stage.
