Schmaltz is just a good offensively, far superior defensively, cheaper, and cost controlled. I'll take all that instead of overpaying for a overrated player. Schmaltz will get better at faceoffs, he's still developing.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stan_Bowman</b></div><div>What leads you to belive this, other than Hossa’s announcement, radio silence from the Blackhawks reguarding the offseason.</div></div>
Officially, yeah they've been pretty quiet except to hint that they'll be pretty active. But the nearly all of the quote-un-quote experts who have "sources" have said that Stanbo would prefer to move that contract out and allow for cap space accrual during the season.
Now obviously you have to be selective with what you believe from who, but I find this one to be believable. Could be wrong, I'm sure Stan can assemble a solid team regardless of what he ends up doing with 81's contract...

Except the real Stanbo apparently doesn't want to live on LTIR adjustments anymore... So do they need to, no, but does he want to? Looks like it...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stan_Bowman</b></div><div>We do not need to lose assets to trade Hossas contract away, why do people keep doing this? SMH 2 stars</div></div>
Says the not-really-guy who signed Nacho Grande to 6.875... Yeah. you do, because AZ is no longer a dumping ground, and no one is going to take **** contracts for nothing.
Assuming Toews has a rebound year and isn't really in full decline, which I don't think he is, 32 mil for those 3 stud horses would be fine by me!
<a href="/users/Sharp_10" target="_blank">@Sharp_10</a> The Hawks don't need or want Shawzie back... I loved him, but those days are over, and with his back problems at 4 mil, no dice. Would prefer to keep Big Artie for nearly the same price. I also thnik you overpaid Vinnie and Hayden by a little... Vinnie is thrilled with 1.25x2, and Hayden would likely take the same. Not vast savings here, but every penny counts to ol' SMH Stanbo up there... Duclair is tougher to figure out, he may land at 1.75-8, not sure how that will go. They all need "prove it" contracts, so we'll have to wait and see.
In the end, this D group is not good enough. I would follow other Armchair GMs who are at least going after Faulk or De Haan, SOMEONE else is needed at D or this team is still in a bag of defensive ****.

You get balance throughout each line which is why this is special. Debrincat is better suited for LW than RW so playing with Kane is an advantage.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>graderman</b></div><div>Or Chicago could do the easier, more logical trade, moving Panarin for the 3rd OA and hopefully Johns as well. DeBrincat and Knott make the team out of camp, Hjalmarsson is properly slotted on his natural shooting side and Seabrook stays as does Hayden, Tootoo and Rozsival. I like the Wingels idea; he would be an upgrade to Tootoo, too. (Deuces are wild there, hey!?). They would still be under the cap as well with a 22-23 player roster.</div></div>
How is trading the 2x top10 scorer instead of the aging dman more logical? I'll agree that it's a lot easier but more logical...

It's very much a question if Eichel reaches that ceiling. It's not like Matthews or McDavid where it's already obvious. I did make this fun trade under the thought that Buffalo has cap space, the previous plan that included Eichel wasn't working so far & that got the GM fired, they'd like to make the playoffs, and the hometown Kane gives them a draw & immediate improvement.
Kane is still in his prime, btw. He was tied for scoring when he injured his shoulder in 2015, won it in 2016 and was tied for 2nd this last season.

Here is my frustration with the naysayers for trades like this. Kane is a 3x stanley cup champion in the prime of his career. I'm sure that has no value to a young team? I get it. cap issues, younger, cheaper, all that, and it may well be valid; but to just say I'll go with the young dude all the time is silly. Just my thoughts.

In the 11 playoff games the last 2 years ONLY Patrick Kane (9) had more points than Panarin. Toews and Panarin both had 8.
Don't sit here and tell us Panarin is trash in the playoffs and completely refuse the idea you're being emotional.
Anisimov looked awful in the playoffs both years. He was also injured right before or in the playoffs the last 2 years.

Sounds like emotion to me. Panarin did have 7 points last year in 1 series. If it was only the last two years then Toews is right there with them and we KNOW he's at least capable of taking over a series. Whether he does it or not is another thing.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey_Mind</b></div><div>Debrincat and Panarin are the next wave. Time to trade Kane while his value is sky high.</div></div>
This is so sad. The fact that anyone would think that trading Kane is the right thing to do is horrifying.
Bozak trade isn't bad but I'd rather do Anisimov and Pokka for Bozak or something along those lines. Then keep Panarin and resign Panik. Although we know that doesn't work easy with Anisimov's NMC. The Leafs are an exciting team to head to though, so maybe he'd say okay.
I would resign Campbell to a similar deal as this year instead of Polak.
I find it hard Kempny gets a raise.
Add 3,700,000 in bonus overages to this team also.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NickC1988</b></div><div>Panarin is the next wave? He's invisible in the playoffs. He provided no scoring whatsoever. He doesn't know how to play playoff hockey. He's gotta go.</div></div>
Yeah because so many other players on the Hawks provided scoring in the playoffs. He created and had just as many scoring chances as the next player on the Hawks. Stop being emotional and open your eyes.

There isn't much the Hawks can do ... time to miss the playoffs for 1 year, and
Every single trade is incredibly bad for the hawks. Im a wild fan, id be thrilled if they screwed themselves by doing something like this, but there's a reason bowman has the job. You guys need to continue to get younger and cheaper, not trade ridiculous amounts for older players. That Trouba trade is just insanity. Im sure you're just messing around but the hawks are a model franchise that needs to get win everything they can with that core before they get too old (which they haven't). Once that happens, the hawks should be able to get overpaid for all these 3-time cup winners who will provide leadership and experience to younger teams.
