First off we are in no need for cap space, so paying to dump Anderson doesn’t make sense in general. Secondly we’re taking on more cap, Skinner may be better than Anderson but he’s also over payed himself.
Montreal isn't giving up assets to dump Anderson just to take on a more expensive contract, when skinner doesn’t fit the timeline. Makes no sense for Montreal, even if skinner is the better player, still makes no sense</div></div>
Timeline doesnt matter, this is just something CF kids made up because they lack good reasoning. Skinner makes them significantly better, for nearly nothing. Barron doesnt have close to the value you think he does and that first is going to be mid 20s

They trade a garbage overpayed forward well past expiration date for an over payed 30 goal scorer. Makes a ton of sense for MTL

Offseason Rossi Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Danny_MrGM_Briere</b></div><div>Is he that good? Will he be better than a middle 6 player? Laughton can play up and down the lineup and I think the sabres might want the leadership and mentality that he brings for all of the young players. A 4th rounder on top of that too. But again I could be ignorant to how good Ostlund really is because I don't know much about him.</div></div>
Laughton was one of the worst players in the league this year, Ostlund is a top 6 prospect

Galaxy Brain
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hairyberry</b></div><div>I can answer those questions right now:
1) Yes, easily. He's up in 2025, at which point they will have approximately $34m in cap space (if they don't sign anyone from today until then). So if the GM isn't a complete moron, he will plan all of his signings appropriately to ensure he can afford the extension when the time comes.
2) That is irrelevant from the Avs' perspective when they're considering of the value of the return. It only becomes relevant if they want to trade Rantanen and create a bidding war, but they definitely don't want to do that.
3) See 2. Also, a #6D and a $7.5m 31 year old winger (32 next month) who averaged a 68 point pace over the last 3 years and is locked up for another 3 years after this one has very low trade value, if any at all. The only high-end assets are Kulich and 9OA, but you're offering 4 quarters for a dollar in a sense.</div></div>
Ryan Johnson is a 3rd pair dman because he's a rookie behind Power, Byram, Dahlin, and Samuelsson. He forced his way into the NHL his first pro year. Trying to discount his talent and value by calling him a 6 d is absurd. He may play on the 3rd pair, but his talent is far beyond that, and he's on an elc

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tikiming</b></div><div>No from NJ !
But from sabres?? You are awfull in RD , full of centre and krebs has shown that’s he is has is better a third centre…
Your team try to rebuilt since like 10 years and the reason it’s never worked it’s because management think you win with 25 years old average team ! You need guy like Savard! But if you are ok with 6 future third center at 5.11 and 0 RD it’s okay too</div></div>
Dahlin Power is 1 2 at RD when theyre fully healthy, then they have Jokiharju and Clifton. The Sabres d i significantly better after the Byram trade. Savard would be a 7th dman

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ural740811</b></div><div>I assume next season Buffalo will still be far from the ceiling, and you will not be a seller, but you are also unlikely to go all-in, so getting the 4th round of the playoffs for providing a small service in withholding part of the salary, with the fact that you can afford it, I think gen. Buffalo's manager is not an enemy of his organization to give up a pick in the middle of the draft.</div></div>
They aren't a charity, just because they can afford it doesn't mean they have to do it. The Sabres have also operated in the red for a decade. Not to mention, weak draft, Sabres have the best prospect pool in the league, adding some long short 4th rounder isn't enticing
