I think he's better than he gets credit for. Everyone is so quick to throw shade at him when he makes a mistake in his own zone but never give him credit when he makes a spectacular play. It's almost like ppl don't understand the difference between a offensive defenseman, defensive defenceman and a 2way dman.

Post Stanley Cup Win
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>Leaf fans just look at last year when everyone said Mrazek was going to cost a 1st to move. And it cost 13 spots in the draft. Now Murray is better and has only 1 year. It won't cost as much to move him as it did Mrazek, who cost basically nothing to move. Murray returns nothing to move. With the paper thin goalie market this summer, Murray isn't far off from the top options. Like is Murray less viable than Andersen? Both injured often but Murray at least has 2 cup wins. Murray is going to be a risky but decent option for teams that need goalies and there are a lot of those.</div></div>

Not sure I've ever agreed more with anyone on anything. I've been a huge advocate of his on here when everybody was throwing him under the bus. Also, he takes a lot of flack about his defensive game but when he makes a great defensive play none of the haters on here mention it. He's a hell of a hockey player and an even better person.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>TO unloaded a worse goalie with more term last summer for so much less than people said it would cost. Does that teach anyone anything though? Nope, right back to square 1. The goalie market is paper thin. Jarry might be the best option available and he's an often injured, inconsistent goalie. With many teams looking for goaltending help and not much available, Murray may be a much better option than people want to admit. Despite his "being a leaf so that means he sucks" status, he did play well when healthy and does have 2 cup rings. He's risky but he's definitely not bad.</div></div>
I agree with what you're saying but <a href="/users/OldNYIfan" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@OldNYIfan</a> isn't one of those ppl and many leaf fans on here csn vouch for him myself included.

He was in beast mode last year too. These playoffs have showed he's too valuable to the leafs to trade. Plus he'd likely block any trade, I mean he signed his contract for a reason. Also, lets not forget he was a front runner for the captaincy when JT ultimately got it, still think MR should have been chosen.

This was my line of thinking before his stupid play. This is not an overreaction but clearly he can't be trusted to keep his cool and not hurt his team who's trying to think bigger picture. I love Buntz and know he's trying to help in his way, but I can't see anyone coming outta the lineup for him atm unless an injury arises, he could have played his last game as a leaf. The contract you offered is what I would have and thought the leafs FO should have offered this off-season, but now his value on the FA market will be greater than his value to TOR at this point.

<strong>COL flips the 2023 1st round pick (CBJ) </strong>to TBL for RFA rights to Ross Colton, where TBL flips in another Hagel type deal"

My if we are swept offseason moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>The issue you raise dovetails perfectly with your question. I think that Rob Blake's primary objective this summer will be to re-sign both Gavrikov and Korpisalo. To do so, we may have to sacrifice Viktor Arvidsson (who has been wonderful for us) or Alex Iafallo (who is the most underrated player on the Kings). THAT is a cost worth paying, in my opinion. Losing Danault for a better LhD than Gavrikov isn't, to me.</div></div>
We'll give you KK, Berrios & Garcia as part of the trade... that is our final offer! Lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>We wouldn't be interested. We can improve the team by adding at LhD, and don't necessarily need to add someone as good as Rielly, but we can't really replace Danault. He's been the home-run acquisition of all time for us. The only reason why he won't get Selke Trophy votes is because he plays on the same team with Anze Kopitar.
To put it in the simplest terms, we have a chance right now, as presently constituted, to beat the Oilers. If we had Rielly instead of Danault, we'd be out in four.</div></div>
Very well put and understandable. I figured it'd be a no but I figured value wise it was pretty close. When Blake first signed him I thought it would be to move him in a couple of years for that elusive LHD but agree he's a playoff beast. I was more dreaming of AM,PD,ROR,Kampf down the middle.
I will say this, I still believe Matthew's re-signs but if he doesn't he'd be traded to L.A. and Danault will be part of the trade coming back.

I think L.A. would be the team turning down the trade as it's easier to find a Rielly than another Danault but value is close IMO.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>LA needs a high-quality LhD. Reilly is one and a good player. Danault and Arvidsson are also good players, two-thirds of our #1B forward line, and the first is far more important to us than Roni Hirvonen.
We might well be interested in Reilly, but not for those pieces.</div></div>
I've been wondering about Rielly/Danault 1vs1 for a while but figured it would get shot down. What's your opinion?
