2020-21
If Hanks Retired NYR would be in the hook for a 3 million dollar Cap Recapture penalty for 20/21.
Tony DeAngelo is likely in for a bigger payday & he has arbitration rights this off season so he could get a big bump up to 4.5 - 5 Million for 1 year. If he does 2 years until he s a UFA, you are looking at 4.25 (ish) per.
Strome also a RFA with arbitration rights, i see this as Kevin Hayes like scenario, he gets 1 year deal, 5 million (give or take) if he gets that 65 point season & he's moved next year at the deadline. Gives the younger C's CHytil & Howden another year to develop & the brass another year to assess if they are 2C & 3C's respectively for the long run.
Geogiev gets 2 years but maybe at 2 million
Lemieux , 2 or 3 at about that 1.5 -1.75.
Dont see an add like Hoffman (not that i don't like him!) & hes looking for longer term, 5 years minimum & at that CK number, 6.5 for dollars.
May need to retain more on Smith & hes got a M-NTC, so OTT may not work...
Look for Morgan Barron, Tyler Wall & NIls Lundkqvist to sign ELC's.
IF MIller payed another year at Wisconsin, his JR year, i'd be fine with that as well.

If he played his JR year at Wisconsin i think that would be fine. Adam Fox went form a very good player to a player that was able to step right in to the NHL playing his JR year in a Top NCAA program.
KM's only been playing Defense full time for 3 years. Rykov & Hejek can hold the LD down for another year or so.

Good deal for NYR, they get an NHL ready player & a 1st,.
I don't think that 4th to 2nd condition would work for the 2021 pick, it would be just the 4th or IF it did NYR sends 2021 3rd to DAL as well.
I also see Quickie getting moved, for a 2nd to.... Nashville.

Carlson makes 8 million per, , im saying Tony D is getting at least what Nurse is getting (Ballpark) , same age, same position, same RFA status, & TDA has far better offensive numbers & climbing.
FLames signed Rasmus Andersson to a six-year deal carrying an AAV of $4.55 million.
MARCUS PETTERSSON 5 YEARS - $20,125,875 - AAV = $4,025,175
If they give him 2 years to get him to UFA status he may take less dollars. But its still going to be a 4.75-5.5 type number.

Rangers 2020-21
DeAngelo is getting bigger dollars than that. Nurse just got 2 years @5.6 from EDM as a pending RFA , Arbitration eligible , RHD. He can get 5 + in arbitration if he keeps up this type of offensive production. maybe a bridge deal 2 years , 5.25 -5.75
Strrome also a pending RFA with arbitration rights, don't see him getting more than a 1 year deal ,(see Kevin Hayes from last year) NYR dont want to block Chyilt or Kravstov with a longer term deal to RS. Maybe 2 years , but if he gets-55 -65 (hes currently on pace for 70!) points its gonna be 5 plus million.
Dollars & term are about right on Quickie (i'd guess 3 @2.75 per
Same with Lemieuex (I'd guess 2 years 1.625 per)
Geogiev (if hes still a NYR) - 2 years @ 2.225 per)
Phil G will get another one year deal if he signs his QO so 750-800 K
Id like to see CK stay in Blue would love to move the term down to 5 but I'm thinking 6 years @ 6.5 per might make it work to extend him pre-deadline, Skjei , Strome or DeAngleo get moved if CK extends .
Don't like that Skjei deal. need more in that return,
Hanks buyout number of 5.5 next year in dead money... yeesh. I think they move AG at the TDL or at the draft, & he comes back as the back up to Igor or....... he retires.

Staal Retires - We can keep everyone
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BA791</b></div><div>That's actually exactly what happens... see Hossa and Callahan.</div></div>
Nope they are on LTIR due to a proven medical injury that makes them unable to play.
If Staal up a retired (doubtful) NYR would be hit with a small CAP recapture penalty (see Roberto Luongo) of 2 million for 2020/21
Hanks would be 3 million if your interested.
DeAngelo is getting a bigger payday (Darnell Nurse also an impending RFA RHD w/arbitration rights) just got 2 years @5,6 per) so think 1 or 2 years at 5.5 -5.7
Strome is also an impending RFA w/arbitration rights, think the Hayes deal, I year 5 million if he gets 50-55 points. Maybe NYR sign him too a 2 year deal 4.85 while Chytil develops into a 2C...
Quickie will get 3 years 2.5- 2.75 ... Heck Hagelin just got 4 @2.75 from the CAPS
based on where the NYR rebuild is now ... I'd take that CK deal.... but will he! My guess was/is 6 years @6.5 ..
Dont see SJS moving Hertl for that package. Unelss a piece like Chytil went the other way & maybe one of the Def prospects, Keane, or Hajek & Buch came out of the deal.

We shall see. I was looking at Kostin as off limits as he seems to be a Kreider like player, so if CK played & left this kid would fill that void next year and forward. Doesn’t seem like he’s ready to be that top 6 guy yet, neither does Kyrou
Outside of Kyrou & Kostin the STL cupboard is pretty bare as far as prospects at least up front . So B prospect(s) and a potential late 1st rounder probably ain’t the best deal for NYR.
Oh and IF STL let AP get to UFA, July 1st, he’s gonna be a leaf. (See John Tavares & NYI)
