Dominik Simon Defense Team
When healthy the pens should not have Simon in their top 6. Rust or Horny can play with Crosby and Guentzel and the Aston-Reese, Malkin and Kessel line has been fantastic. McCann-Bjugstad-Rust was a solid line. so right there Simon is on the outside looking in to a spot in the top 9. Blueger has earned a spot on the 4th line with his production and sully won't sit Cullen so you should have Wilson/Simon battling for the last spot in the lineup. Don't get me wrong Simon is a solid player but when healthy the Pens will have a tough time figuring him into their lineup.

Pens TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MajesticWalrus</b></div><div>Yes a lot of sources are reporting this. But i dont think Montour costs this much. So think less than whatever you're thinking. And then think even less than that because Anaheims new coach doesnt play him a lot at all which hurts his value.
By the way, ever since we took pettersson and anaheim got a new coach who diminished montours ice time. Gibson and the team have been way worse. So i think that says something. While murrays stats were bad at the beginning of the year and now theyre up with pettersson.</div></div>
so what about Pearson and a third rd pick for Mountour. and a conditional pick as well?

very true. I think Hague would be more likely to be involved in a trade. Brannstrom will be their franchise defenseman. ik they have Theodore and Schmidt, but Brannstrom has the potential to be a left handed Erik Karlsson

A QUESTION FOR PENS FANS
The thing though is this is a really deep draft. Yes ik a lot of other drafts are deep but thats after a few years, but this class is deep just as prospects. with the cap constraints the pens have, even with the savings from Schultz's injury they can't really trade their first for a guy with control. unless you send an offer of Jack Johnson, filip Hallander, Calen Addison, Jordy Bellerieve, and 2019 first and maybe another pick or two for Alex Martinez and Adrian Kempe/Tyler Toffoli

Deadline Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jimmmyg</b></div><div>I still think they will get Ferland, as it was last reported that 2-3 teams were still in the mix with Penguins being most active (before the FLA trade, FWIW) Actually kinda surprised that it hasn't happened yet, unless GMJR is refusing to give up the 1st for him, idk!! Maybe switch Jarry with Maatta? I like that you are bringing a dman in with Maatta going out, so maybe Carolina would feel the same way. Maatta, Simon & a first seems fair for the remainder of this season of Ferland and TVR for another year. Carolina gets two young players and their 1st they want for Ferland.</div></div>
yeah for sure. I think Rutherford is realizing that you need young talent to help with the aging stars. and this years draft class is deep. ik in years past drafts are deep but this year has a draft class. and I could see Maatta going to Carolina but I don't think Carolina is looking at Maatta. now how about a 3 team trade between MTL-PIT-CAR. MTL gets Maatta, PIT gets Ferland and TVR and CAR get Romanov, Simon, Jarry, and first or 2nd from PIT

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jimmmyg</b></div><div>definitely a heavy package but I am not sure that gets us TVR as well. Truthfully, I think I would rather TVR than Ferland. This offense can get it done if they figure it out. The defense however gives me night terrors. I would offer Simon & the 1st for him.</div></div>
yeah Pittsburgh offense is good and just needs to figure it out but I think Ferland gives them another dimension that Simon doesn't really bring. Simon is great with Crosby put Ferland adds a little more grittiness to the line and can put the puck in the net. and I could've added a 2nd rd pick as well

yes but Jarry would've been the start to that proposal. Jarry and a first plus more for huberdeau.

Jarry is 100% available but if Pittsburgh was gonna move him to Florida it would've been for Huberdeau I believe. but Jarry would make sense in Florida

Sens trade deadline Complete rebuild
I don't see the islanders trading Wahlstrom and a first round pick for Duchene but you never know with Lou. I think a 2019 first, bellows and another prospect for Duchene would be fair. Also Anton Lundell could spring up the draft board for the 2020 draft as he excelled as a 17 year old at the WJC with Finland

the thing about Ferland is that Pittsburgh won't have the money to resign him and they have a few options in Blandisi and Teddy Blueger to take those spots

Trade deadline
The Columbus trade will be an instant no. Need to add some combination of Addison, Bellerive, Björkqvist, Pavleychev. Montreal is not trading Mete especially for a someone like Maatta who is older than Mete. Carolina trade is interesting but don't think they would want Oleksiak. and the Calgary trade is a head shaker. Pittsburgh loves Sheahan so I don't see him getting traded. especially since Calgary is a playoff contender I don't think they do that trade even though they are getting two players in the deal

PIT EDM Rentals
Pittsburgh trade is interesting but Pittsburgh doesn't need another defenseman. Pittsburgh would much rather take Ferland if they are trading with Carolina. The Edmonton trade is very interesting as Edmonton needs another quality player like Ferland and Puljujärvi needs a change of scenery. I think a line of Svechnikov-Aho-Puljujarvi would be interesting and could wind up being a monster line for Carolina for years to come if they decide to trade for him

Duchene if Ottawa want to trade
I like the Columbus, but idk if Columbus gives up a third round pick maybe more of a 5th-6th round pick and I don't see Pittsburgh being a major player for Duchene if he is available. Even though Pittsburgh has the cap to trade for him cuz of Schultz's injury and that cap relief, I can't see Pittsburgh paying that big of a price for a player they won't resign

Not bad ideas on the trades but Brassard won't bring back that much. In a brassard trade is probably a 1 for 1 deal and Silfverberg probably won't be on the move and if he is Anaheim would want one of Anthony Angello or Jordy Bellerive to start a conversation with Pittsburgh

forgot about Maatta and I think he could be traded in the summer, but IMO idk if they trade for Ferland as they tend to want to keep the players they trade for. examples of this would be trading hagelin for Pearson and Cole and Reaves for Brassard

I really like the trades but I don't think they trade Simon for a rental player as GMJR and the coaching staff love Simon and I personally don't think they would add petrovic as they would put Riikola with Schultz as Pettersson and Johnson have been a solid pair

Just throwing this out there
I think the Oilers trade is good. I was thinking of that the other day when I saw an article on NBCSN and how the Oilers GM could make a "panic" trade. now the devils trade you would need to add a 2nd round pick and the kings trade just doesn't work for the fact Schultz is coming back in a few weeks and Marcus Pettersson has done extremely well in Pittsburgh. but you could ship Oleksiak there for a young forward and a late round pick
