the trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Haymaker26</b></div><div>No, it is not.
Let's assume for the sake of the argument that the Penguins would be willing to sell Sid.
By the looks of the Bruins, both of those firsts would be pretty late with or without Crosby. That's a pretty solid start, but this is where most of the value is as far as I care.
Carlo is a solid middle pairing D and DeBrusk has been unironically great, but they're mostly here to make the cap hit work. If the Pens were *selling Crosby*, they'd be tanking. Hard. Regardless they, DeBrusk especially, have some value. But this is Sidney Crosby we're talking about, one of the greatest players of all time.
Kyle Keyser is a goalie prospect, which the Pens don't need. They have Filip Lindberg ahead of him on the depth chart, with Joel Blomqvist and Tommy Guathier not too far behind, if they even would be behind.
Ryan Mast was drafted in the 6th round and is ~0.5 ppg in the OHL right now. That's not going to add any significant amount of value.
Considering other high profile trades like Erik Karlsson and Matt Duchene, this trade isn't exciting for Pens fans. It's 2 roster players, albeit good ones, 2 probably very late 1sts, and a couple random lesser picks/prospects. The value is good, but not great, and we're talking about the trade of the greatest player of a generation. I think this trade is ~ a blue chip prospect away from getting done.
The 2 Duchene trades included 1. A 1st, and 2 great prospects, and 2. 2 firsts.
The Karlsson Trade included 1 first and conditions for more that didn't get met, and a great prospect.
We can even go back into the dark ages of the 80s and 90s to the Lindros and Gretzky deals, but I've rambled enough. You want Crosby, It'll be a literal kings ransom. There's a lot of value here, but this isn't a king's ransom.</div></div>
probably the best response i have ever heard since been on this site ,and would agree only to the fact that a top prospect in addition would make this trade work .not sure any other team would fit.crosby would waive for this i think

comparing the two is not the issue, if he wants to go then your in a spot. nothing wrong with ellis a proven top nhl dman plus he fills needs . if my post was accepted it would not a loss in anyway to the team

let team start like that see where they are at trade deadline then either add or sell . nothing will make this team any better at this point so continue stock with high end youth ,next draft is loaded

fair enough like to see some team take the chance on him .good player with all the tools that needs to grt things rite. i believe edmonton would be that place

Habs trade for Dubois
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Cardiac</b></div><div>Exactly. I see habs fans bringing in subban left and right with PLD being every other post before the tkachuk saga. The thing is is that the habs <strong>SUCK</strong> and are not two pieces away from being anywhere near the playoffs. Not to rip on your team but just an observation. I get as a fan you want your team to win every night but losing will be a regular thing this season for the habs and no matter who they bring in with their current core, won’t make them competitive unless it’s a hart candidate. Habs just need to develop young players and just embrace the suck. If you fight it, the actual rebuild will take double or triple the time the habs rebuild would take rather than if they just keep sucking now. It’s delayed gratification, suck now to win later.</div></div>
