Anyway, I feel like the Blackhawks could get a pick along with taking on Mantha's contract from the Caps rather than sending one their way as you suggest.
Blackwood probably doesn't get a QO by the Devils to begin with, could likely be had in free agency without having to give a pick up.</div></div>
lol this CF post was based on that, I just wanted to see how the roster would look like. didn't rly care about the trade value

No ik about analytics as well. i havent checked them much for those two but regardless they're so young that it doesn't matter as much. also dach and lafreniere are both 2001 babies their bdays are not too too far apart. just accept that your first overall pick isnt looking all that good rn

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR1983</b></div><div>Explain… this should be interesting 🤨</div></div>
I shouldn't even need to explain this, but Dach looked like one of our best players this year. He played at a 65 point pace (38 points in 58 games). He looked absolutely great on the ice most nights for us. Heck, I kinda prefer him to Suzuki right now as a habs fan tbh. Why would we trade him and a second for a winger who is basically the same age and who hasn't proven anything at the NHL level. Heck, Drouin of all players had a better PPG than Lafreniere this year and he had a poor year for the most part... nuff said

Barron is not worth much. Also, read the description. I said we'd replace Kidney with Mesar if the pick drops. You can remove Barron if you want, I just got him to be a stopgap 4LW.

Thread:
Which players Habs should choose at the 5th overall pick
It's simple.
We can all agree that Bedard, Fantilli and Carlsson will be gone by 5. Michkov SHOULD be gone by 5, but if some GMs buy into the Russian scare, he could drop. If he's there at 5, he's a must pick. He's one of the most skilled players the draft has seen in years, you'd be crazy to not take him at 5 if you're the Habs, a team that needs more elite talent desperately.
If Michkov goes top 4. You take either Will Smith or Zach Benson. I think Benson is a bit better overall, but he's small and Smith is a better fit for the Habs. So I'd be really happy with either of them.
Picking players like Reinbaucher or Dvorsky over Smith or Benson would be a disaster in my opinion. We need to go for talent and upside.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jedihonesy</b></div><div>you have a lot of left handed D (Guhle, Xhekaj, Harris, Matheson, Edmunson). Habs RHD consists of Savard, Barron, Kovacevic, maybe Mailloux in future. Moving Matheson for Roy would be good. Moving Matheson for Durzi would be even better cause he's younger. Montreals still years away from competing if Matheson is still there when competing id be surprised. Guhle Durzi pairing would be sick.</div></div>

Maybe, but why would the Habs trade Matheson for that return when he could probably fetch a tone next deadline at this rate

Fair. i dont really care about the return anyway. just want him to get a change of scenery and i want to free up a roster spot for another winger. i'm sure someone would take a flyer on him for cheap just to see if his talent could translate to something in a different situation.

This is the correct answer. If we trade him injured i doubt we get much, but healthy, he could easily get a Chiarot-level return (imo he’s a better player too).

Dvorak plays on a wayyyyy worse team despite basically producing at the same rate and has better analytics. I’d def take Dvorak over Kerfoot. Also, just because you’re a RHD doesn’t mean you have trade value. Holl is very mid no matter how you look at it. Even if those two were worth Dvorak, why would the Habs do this? Dvorak has more name value across the league rn and if we’re trading him, it’s solely for futures, not for other established players that aren’t young.

Dvorak was literally traded for a 1st + 2nd a year ago and he just had his best season point production wise (played at a 48 point pace) on an abysmal Habs team. how am i overvaluing him? lmao

Generous Dubois trade but not delusional
I agree with you assessment, but seeing that trade still pissed me off icl. I know Hab fans undervalue Dubois/overvalue
Suzuki a bit and that Dubois is better than Suzuki fs rn, but why nevertheless the hell would the Habs do this? I know you talked about how they should just wait for him to be a UFA, which i agree with, but the Habs wouldn’t have to trade Suzuki to get him. Winnipeg doesn’t have crazy leverage with Dubois right now and Suzuki is basically the face of the franchise right now. You really don’t need to give up Suzuki for Dubois. Fiala and Dubois are similar player quality wise, albeit Dubois being more proven and being a center, and Fiala only went for a 1st and a B prospect. Dvorak + 2023 FLA 1st + B prospect + 2nd + (another good asset) should low key be more than enough to get it done in real life considering the circumstances at hand. Great, but not generational young centers that want to be traded dont tend to get the crazy hauls some people expect. Just look at the Eichel trade, they basically got two good mid 1sts, Tuch and a 2nd for him, not a really young proven stud like Suzuki. Leverage plays huge here imo

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TML_Tika</b></div><div>What are you talking about?........He is on the trade block right now.</div></div>
just because he’s on the trade block doesn’t mean they’ll trade him for your scraps. they want actual value of use in return (aka futures/picks). dvorak is a legit 45-55 point middle center who is rly good at faceoffs… there’s no way he gets less than a 2nd + B prospect in this market (heck we traded a first for him, he could prob still fetch one in return since he hasn’t regressed since he joined the habs).
