Why do Russian wingers play on their off side
If I were to guess, it’s probably for easier one timers. I’ve always seen it as a thing snipers do (like Caufield on my Habs), but it’s definitely true that there’s particularly a lot of russian wingers are doing it

MTL rejects. We are rebuilding and won’t be trading our firsts for veterans. We have way too many old overpaid wingers anyway; id anything we’re trying to get rid of some of them right now

Habs lose all of those trades and those draft picks, excluding 1OA ofc, are really bad imo. I’m really not high on Lamoureux/Luneau and there will be better forwards at 26 than Howard.

I dont totally hate it but
Habs are indeed interested in acquiring Barrie, but not because he’s good. He’s useful to us because 1) he can eat up big minutes to replace Petry as the 1RD 2) he’ll improve the PP 3) he’s a net negative on the team analytically and will help us tank while making the team a bit less depressing to watch. We aren’t giving a 2nd for Barrie whatsoever considering the Oilers don’t have leverage and he isn’t good enough to theoretically warrant that return anyways. In my mind he should either have minimal value (late 3rd-4th rounder) or very slight negative value (Habs get paid a late 3rd/4th rounder to take him). While the Oilers really shouldn’t do this, Hoffman for Barrie would be more likely to go through than Barrie for a 2nd if you’re trading with MTL. Alternatively, he could probably just be a throw in piece in a larger Habs trade (i.e. Puljujarvi or Anderson centered-trade - fyi Anderson for Barrie 1-for-1 ain’t happening, there’s a lot of interest surrounding Anderson and we’ll prob get a first for him).

Rem Pitlick really isn’t that good. He had a crazy good stint but he cooled down by the end of the season. I’m a huge Pitlick fan but the habs should easily accept that imo.

Habs reject the EDM trade. Allen on his own is worth a 2nd and Anderson could legit somehow fetch a 1st in this market. That EDM 1st is really late too. Allen (worth a 2nd) + 3rd for EDM 1st (pick 29) + Kassian is more likely to go through than the likelihood of the habs accepting the deal you proposed irl.

I think the Caps want a 2C instead of a 3C atm with Backstrom likely being done and the Oilers are pretty set at center tbh so I can easily see a timeline where the Devils can’t get those / for Zacha.
I agree that the Sens *should* decline that deal, however I simply really believe Dorion would do that move, which is why ai included it (also offered an explanation in the description).

I know his Goal and assist totals leave a little to be desired...but maybe if he got into the line up more - and when he did got more than 8 min per game, he'd find a scoring groove. And even though he is not scoring, his size and speed combination does create lots of chances for him and others...AND he draws lots of penalties. So in this regard, he is actually a real good fit on any team's 4th line- especially at the bargain rate he is signed for.</div></div>
Just look at his analytics lmao

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>"Redemption project"?!? Anthony Beauvillier had the same year Anderson had. And here are some more figures:
A. Beauvillier over the last two years : 122 games, 27 goals, 62 points, 16:50 ToI, 80% of the cap hit of Josh Anderson
Josh Anderson over the last two years : 121 games, 36 goals, 56 points, 17:14 ToI, $5.5 million for 5 years
Plus/minus is a coarse statistic, but Anderson is minus 35 over the last two seasons (-25 last year) while Beauvillier is plus 15 (minus 10 last year).
Note that you're combining two items from "a super reliable insider": (1) that NY might have interest in Anderson, and (2) that NY might be interested in moving the #13 overall selection. You and your fellow Habs fans shouldn't conflate the two and jump to the absurd conclusion that NY would be willing to trade #13 for Anderson.</div></div>
I am not combining two items. He quote tweeted a tweet saying this: “Reports coming in that the #Isles have shown growing interest in #GoHabsGo Josh Anderson and are rumored to be willing to send their 13th overall pick to get a deal done. Losing count as to how many teams have inquired on Anderson. Could be all smoke or maybe...#NHL” and basically confirmed this being true.
I do agree that Beauvillier is better than Anderson, but that doesn’t mean that that’s what NHL GMs think. Points isnt the reason Anderson is perceived as valuable by NHL GMs. Anderson is a rare type of player that boomer GMs absolutely adore as he combines physicality and goal scoring with incredible speed. Because of this, he has a lot of value right now for some stupid reason. He will fetch a surprising haul fs if he’s dealt and I can easily see Lou being the type of GM to do the deal I mentioned above. Just because i’m proposing a mock trade doesn’t mean I think the opposing team should do it. I just think that it’s a deal I can easily see the opposing GM accepting irl in the current market.

Drouin is not a goal scorer and he has missed a lot of games in the last 2 seasons, what you’re saying is a bit misleading. Ever since joining the Habs, he’s always played at a 40+ point pace in the regular season despite the team not being really good.
I’m not saying Nemeth has the worst contract ever. He really doesn’t. However, he’s definitely overpaid and the Rangers are in a position where every penny matters. No GM would trade positive value for Nemeth right now anyway. Lundkvist doesn’t have crazy value either, as he’s probably worth around a 2nd round pick.

If I were the Isles I wouldn’t do the deal I proposed above at all, especially as I do prefer Beau over Andy anyway. I just think that I could easily see Lou doing that trade, especially since Anderson’s perceived value amongst NHL GMs is much higher than it actually should be.

There’s nothing on Beauvillier, but NRD (who is a super reliable insider) has reported the Isles are interested in Anderson and would even be willing to part with pick 13 in a deal for him. I also added pick 26 in the deal, so essentially, they’re trading down 13 spots (in a draft where the quality at 13 and 26 is pretty similar) and parting ways with Beau (who needs a change of scenery) for Anderson.

I think it’s more the fact that the Avs are really cap strapped and Drouin at 50 % retained would be a super cheap gamble for them. Despite clearly needing a change of scenery, he still tends to produce at a fringe second line level. They’d basically be gambling on his chemistry with MacKinnon. If it doesn’t work out, his cap hit would he really cheap anyway so it’s not a game breaker. Also, I could see Bernar helping Drouin finding a bit of his game again.

You’re getting Drouin in the deal at 50 % retained, who, all things considered, has still managed to produce at a second line level despite clearly needing a change of scenery and you’re getting rid of Nemeth’s 2.5M cap hit (who isn’t even good enough to make this roster atm. Lundkvist is outclassed on their defensive rpsopect depth chart anyway so he’s definitely expandable.

I love the idea of Drouin going to COL, but as a Habs fan, i’d rather just keep Drouin and trade him at the deadline if he’ll only fetch us a late 3rd and 5th at 50 % retained when he’s, despite all the narratives surrounding, he still produces like a non-playdriving 2nd line winger. He’s not worth the moon of course, but as a cheap rental (at 50 % retained of course) a contender can gamble on he could probably get us a 2nd at the deadline all things considered, which is more valuable to us, since at this point the Habs are looking for quality over quantity.

Nils is good. Again, same applies with Gauthier. So many guys ahead of him in the depth chart</div></div>
Gauthier hasn’t been good at the NHL level though and he doesn’t have any crazy upsides. He wouldn’t even make the Habs lineup anyway since the one position we’re deep at is wing, so in that case him going to MTL wouldn’t make sense.
