An optimistic next few months for the New Jersey Devils

Assuming the draft order from Tankathon stays the same.</div></div>
Cayden Lindstrom would be nice. Not sure he makes it to 11 though
EDIT-After looking at it more, he's not making it to 8 most likely!
maybe Trevor Connelly?

Blame Don Maloney for that. Having a team on the ropes @ TDL is worth more than mid summer with nothing to play for. Ullmark rumors help that cist come down

And that would be a '25 pick not this year's #7-11
With enough prying and massaging that's Swayman territory, Saros with a deal in place at a min

Love the description of the team and this is what Fitz should be looking to do.
Fire the entire coaching staff after game 82
Get Sully from Pitt
Get a G Ullmark for a 2nd and a 3rd is better value (can argue who/how much)
Hanifin is a good choice imo, give VGS a pick to sign @ 8 (Ala Severson trade to cbj)
If the luster is off on Siegs (I'm OK with him ) trade for Petey (can argue what goes the other way)
Add an entire new 4th line and 1/3 of 3rd line with good skaters with some beef! Move Bastian, it's time.
<strong>Contend for years</strong>!

This works. With all the talk that Ullmark could go for a 2nd and a 3rd, why not go down that road?
Yes he's gotta get reupped sooner but he's 5 yrs younger. I still believe Marky is a stop gap for Daws (Schmid before news he may want out)
This is a good compromise, but is Cgy a willing partner?

One of the Bruins beat writers says Ullmark coukd possibly be had for a 2nd and a 3rd. If true, Markey can't be much different LU is 30 so 5yrs younger (JM 35), 1 yr left to FA (JM 2), $5M (JM $6M). I don't think I'm interested in the price of Saros

I think that is why Markstrom is so attrace\ive to them. Bide some time now next year with Markey/Allen and let one of Schmid/Daws take over year 2 of Markey. With that backup taking the reins in year 3. The timing makes a lot of sense and the fact that we were in on him and a couple of younger guys might fit the timeline better

Nah, Fitz is going to have to do <strong>SOMETHING</strong>. I agree that Allen has calm down the crease, but if <strong>ANYTHING</strong> happens (and its jersey, of course G crap happens-Its the Broduer curse). The prices that were out there will come back down to earth. Marky and Ullmark will be options without moving Holtz/Mercer. Saros is another question. I think he liked Marky because of the extra year to allow younger Gs to develop. For instance Marky/Allen combo all through the year with Daws/Schmid in Utica. At TDL see what Allen's interest is and *** he's playing. Ride out the season and one of the Utica Gs comes in the following season or Allen is our rock! But Fitz will be skewered if there is not some kind of add

I think the cleanest deal is the 2025 first for Ullmark. Maybe Holtz depending on what NJ views as their cap preference to keep.</div></div>
Well if the GM and New coach presser last week was any indication, Holtz is playing in Siberia when our season concludes! Your beat writer for the Athletic seemed to think a 2nd and a 3rd (picks which you guys are missing-our 2nd as well this year). I think there is something there as you say that can work.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Peds</b></div><div>you wouldnt be happy with this offseason? markstrom deal is rich but other than that, i think it's p solid</div></div>
No I'd look in a totally different direction, other than G-
-Markey is probably a 2nd and a mid prospect who is blocked from making the team as a skater, add for retention. No way a 1st with all that other stuff either. Its a good move in that in my mind bc of the extra yr gives you a chance to let Daws/Schimd backup in year two after Allen leaves in FA (or not!!!). If CGY is adamant move onto next team for a move.
-Bastian has value, not much, but some, its not just futures IMO
-I like Hagues size but I think we need to consider a #1-2 LHD like <strong>Hanifin</strong> in FA, backup plan is <strong>Skjej</strong>
-Siegenthaler was concerning this year (loved him last year), if they think he is going in tghis direction I am concerned, he has a 10 team NTC starting in 2024-25. If Fitz doesnt like what he sees trade for <strong>Pettersson</strong>. I am no fan of Bahls, he has played better but I am done with a 6'6 240 guy who rathe r than hits x checks and gets caught doing so!
- Mcann is too much money tied up 4 more @ $5M. I'd try and grab a bunch of UFAs as <strong><a href="/users/DGIBB10" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@DGIBB10</a></strong> and <strong><a href="/users/NHLFAN10506" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@NHLFAN10506</a></strong> have noted on these boards who can add some physicality/shot blocking, faceoff to replace MM and speed (<strong><em>Sturm</em></strong> in SJ). I think 2-3 players out of this list of names like <strong>Fogele, Trenin, Duhaime, Lafferty,</strong> <strong><em>Olivier</em></strong> to redo 4th line and 1- 3rd liner in WF. Would like <strong><em>Ross Colton </em></strong>but he's probably not avail and a bit pricey too. <strong><em>Beck Malenstyn</em></strong> is an intriguing player too. Use some of the players you had in the Markstrom trade to pkg for the guys in <strong><em>bold/itals</em></strong>
<strong><em>EDIT O'connor from Pitt was fun to watch, playing for home state might be worth a look too</em></strong>
<strong><em>Most importantly for me is to convince Pitt to move on from Sullivan. Fire Green midway through a game if you have to!</em></strong>
Oh yeah money, I didnt even consider it!
Thats what I would do, but have not put much thought into it! :sarcasm
