Max Bultman Trade Back scenario
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Redwingsfan94</b></div><div>Whats funny is that all these players DO have value. Their contracts just arent ideal. Can you tell me if Chicago over or underpaid to move up the 2 spots with the isles?</div></div>
No they don't. Contracts are what make players into cap dumps. If their production/performance is not cost effective, it makes them a negative asset.
And yes, I can tell you whether CHI underpaid or overpaid in the trade with the Isles. And the answer is neither. The 60th overall pick, which is what they paid to move up, is essentially the EXACT value it would take to both move from 54 to 50 and 20 to 18. It was just a straight up fair trade.

You would not get the Isles 1st to flip 3 spots to take 2 yeas of Holl. The Hawks might send #34 to flip spots, otherwise you would need to send back a 2nd with Holl and 15 to maybe get the Hawks to bite on sending #18.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bedsy_Burner</b></div><div>DET fans can say that Chiarot, Fabbri, Holl, Husso, and Maata have positive value all they want, but it just isn't true and they will have to pay to move their contracts... See how that logic works when it's thrown back at you? The CHI contingent on CapFriendly are fairly educated on what CHI is trying to do and how they operate. So, when we say that CHI isn't doing a trade, there is probably some level of truth to it.
According to PuckPedia's cap relief calculator, Holl's $3.4M x 2 year contract should take the equivalent of a 27th overall pick to dump. PuckPedia's pick value calculator says that the difference in value between the 18th and 15th overall picks is the equivalent of a late 2nd round pick. That is a HUGE gap in value that CHI is leaving on the table just to trade up 3 spots. So, DET would have to send more. If you were to add Andrew Gibson, I would be pretty happy with that, personally. But I might be higher on him than most.</div></div>
I disagree depending on who's still available at #15. Davidson may have someone at the top of his list still available and gifts like Moore falling to #19 don't tend to happen often. I think there's a good chance he pulls the trigger on that one.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JK74</b></div><div>Depending on the price. To move up to #15 imo it's a no-brainer that Chicago accepts. Zaitsev, Tinordi, and Megna are all UFAS so there's a spot for him on the roster as a 7th defenseman. I think there were proposals in the past with Chicago moving assets for him or offering late round picks to dump him. In those scenarios I think Chicago would pass but the available talent at #15 is potentially to good not to make this trade.</div></div>
No. It isn't. He is as pure of a cap dump as they come and costs way more than 3 spots to move. Would you take him straight up for a late 2nd? I wouldn't, and that is the value this is proposing.

I agree. Upside for Holloway and Ceci fills a need.
Soderblom gets a chance to rebuild confidence/value in AHL. Entwistle and Anderson are good 3rd/4th line players. I think Anderson holds more upside than Entwistle.

Marner Deals what say you
I mean... CHI just straight up IS NOT trading for Marner. Marner isn't waiving his FULL NMC, but even if he does, prepare to be massively disappointed with the return, because those expectations are insane. Given the fact that CHI is nowhere near contending, they can afford to wait for their targets to hit free agency. I wouldn't even trade CHI's 2nd round pick for him.

First question is why does Marner waive to any team in his contract year? Why do poor teams acquire a one year rental at the expense of a top pick?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MD77</b></div><div>We shipped unproductive Bauvillier to Chicago for a mid round pick at over $4M AAV. Mikheyev isn't in the same boat. Everyone knows it takes 2 years to return to normal off an ACL injury. He's a fine player otherwise. A bit overpayed, but you're dreaming of you think he is coming with those kind of picks attached. Suter is also additional value on a cheap deal. Can play up and down the lineup and in any situation, while chipping in offence.</div></div>
Pius is oh so valuable that the Hawks let him walk for nothing 3 Summers ago when his contract demands were absurd for what he is. Be sure to give us a call in a year and a half when Mikheyev is in the last year of his deal 3 months from the trade deadline if the Hawks are decimated with injuries at forward in season, you might get something super valuable like a 5th round pick. With 2 years left on his deal, the only way the Hawks take him (even with Pius attached) will be with a decent pick (like at the least one 2nd) attached to him because you can find WAY better players for 4.75X2 in free agency next month without hoping for a health recovery.

Cost for these players
Kurashev will cost a lot more than most people probably think. I feel like CHI probably will move him before his contract is up, but they might want to pump his tires a bit more and sell him at next seasons deadline or around this time of year leading up to the draft and free agency.

Oh ok. Interesting, but that seems like a ridiculous ask. CHI definitely wouldn't be interested. He would be a 3rd pairing LD in CHI, and chances are we would never be able to make any of those assets back by flipping him in the future.

Canes don’t need another expensive LHD. If the Canes hadn’t signed Orlov, there is definitely a deal to be made. But with Orlov, and soon to be adding Nikishin, the Canes are more likely to allocate the cap space from Ferraro to other more crucial areas, and get a 1 year cheap stop gap for 3LD.

Hawks don’t need you to retain, and this type of deal would not include the NYI first.
