He's got wheels and can score, just doesn't play Detroit's game, and Husso would be a cost-controlled option cheaper than Talbot's ask in free agency. But who knows, he might return cheap. I don't know anyone in LA who is happy with Turcotte but I get why parting with a former high 1st round pick is contentious.</div></div>
LA says no quickly.
The only thing frustrating with Turcotte is he's had a hard time with concussions. When he is on the ice (and not hurt) he is pretty much the best player most nights. He will be in LA next year unless he great hurt training (knocking on wood). You're not getting Wright either as LA management loves him and his play style. Berggren does nothing for LA. He's completely opposite of what they are looking for. LA needs big physical right handed wingers for the 4th line. They also need a proven Top6 winger that can score that's also right handed (aka Toffoli).
No one wants Husso! Just like no one wants PLD. If LA is going after a $4m goalie, I'd hope it's Knight out of Florida as he fits the Kings prospects age gap.

I want Necas in LA but not at the expense of Clarke. LA should be building around Clarke and Byfield. I doubt LA has the assets to get Necas unless you're looking at a deal around futures not involving the two guys above.

I'm always disappointed in what this management does but I'm expecting some changes. I'm expecting the overhaul of the bottom line, a goalie move, and a cheapish winger to fill the Top6 hole. More grit and sandpaper. Also, I'm expecting them to sprint away from Lewis.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>StutzleCryBaby</b></div><div>Kempe lmao. Without Kopitar and Byfield he would go back to being a 40-50 point guy. Blow this team up my god.
And no, a defenseman who put up 60 points is better than a forward that puts up 70. Fiala is probably like 60th in the nhl among forwards in scoring. Matheson is 6th among Dmen.</div></div>
For the last 2 years Kempe has carried Kopitar's dying corpse on his back. Kempe is by far the Kings best offensive forward on this team.
Congrats he scored 62 points! He was also a -24. He was 302 out of 314 defenseman in +/- on the year. That means he was on the ice for 88 5on5 goals scored against the team total of 164 GA. That means he was on the ice 54% of the time a goal was scored. I know I know...but Montreal was a bad team last season. Ok, the next "worse" +/- on the Montreal defense was Guhle and he was only -8. That means Matheson was 3x worse than any other defenseman on Montreal. No amount of points is going to make up for that massive gap in offense and defensive stats.
The problem with the Kings is that can't stop McDavid and Draisaitl. Matheson isn't going to help change that. He's actually going to make it worse than what the Kings have now.
Kempe was tied for 31 and Fiala was tied for 38 in scoring for all forwards this season. So that puts them both as top tier of offensive forwards through out the whole league.
This whole debate is a joke that Matheson is better than Fiala. You can take your hate for the Kings and their players away from here.

P.s. Matheson > Fiala.</div></div>
1) Byfield is going back to Center this year. It might 2nd line but I'd rather see him 1C for the experience and to take Kopitar's minutes down.
2) I said Fiala is one of the best not the best. Kempe is far and away better than Fiala.
3) Fiala was just named tournament MVP at the World Champions over a lot of good players, so he is no slouch.
4) I wish LA would blow up the whole organization and start over because this front office is horrible and cost LA a great rebuild for a run at nothing.
But for real it's Fiala > Matheson.

Chychrun and Gavrikov are not remotely the same profile of player, what. Our blueline has been one of the lowest-producing of all playoff teams. Adding in Clarke helps, but I mean he's still going to get minimal icetime. You can sign a cheap shutdown 3LD, and you already have Mikey as another shutdown guy.
Need some playmaking and mobility on the left too.</div></div>
LA need to get big and physical on the back end to play against McDavid and others. Chychrun isn't that guy. If you want to move Gavrikov for an upgrade somewhere else sure but Chychrun isn't an improvement on the backend. I'd move Gavrikov for a winger upgrade and sign Zadorov bit pair with either Clarke or Spence. But LA needs to let Clarke and Spence play their natural offensive games and not hold them back in the 1-3-1.
You could get a vet for the 13th forward role but he needs to have grit on sandpaper to his game. LA only needs to find a spot for Turcotte and Thomas. One can be on the Danault line and the other on the 4th line. But the other spot needs to be a sandpaper guy.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dom1422</b></div><div>“Wanted to see if Arvidsson still fit there” what a load of ****😂 Arvidsson fits better on that line than Fiala. LA is paying two guys on their 3rd line an average of 8 mill each. Something has to give. You can’t proceed that way.
Doughty isn’t a PP QB he’s just the best for that spot on a team that lacks offensive defenseman. You guys have the most depth in the league and still can’t score… It’s because the defense is a black hole for generating offense. Btw Matheson was 6th in the nhl for scoring by defenseman, LA couldn’t even imagine having a dman that dynamic. He’s a 3rd pairing guy? Don’t be a ****ing idiot lol
LA should probably start rebuilding again. They’re a heavily flawed team. The way they’re built makes it look like they have a mentally challenged 9 year old calling the shots. Don’t even get me started on that Dubois trade and contract… dear lord😅</div></div>
It's like the Karlsson debate all over again. An offensive defenseman that doesn't actually play defense. Matheson had his best season ever this season at 11 goals and 62 points, but he was a -24. The guy cost his team way more than he actually helped offensively. LA doesn't need a guy like that. ****! They already had that guy in Durzi than they traded him for a 2nd round pick because he was a lost cause on defense like Matheson is. And while you **** on Doughty he had more goals than Matheson this year at 15.
You want to compare the two on the PP. Matheson had 5 goals and 28 points. Doughty had 7 goals and 20 points. So Doughty scored more goals on the Powerplay but Matheson's teammates scored more than Doughty's teammates.
Matheson scoring from the backend isn't going to replace the 29 goals Fiala brought the Kings last season from the "3rd line". So you're argument saying Matheson for Fiala is a good deal for LA jsut keeps proving worse and worse. Also, I brought up the fact that Clarke (one of the leagues top dman prospects) is coming up to the Kings roster this year and he is the definition of a true PP QB. You'll see LA's PP improve a lot with him on the ice.
And with Byfield moving back to Center this year (PLD to wing) you'll see Fiala in the Top6.

Understood. I just don't see a role for him on LA. He's not gonna get a top-6 spot and doesn't seem like a bottom 6 winger. I'd rather use Kaliyev in a package for a need than trade him for someone that isn't an improvement.

Why is everyone wanting to sign older ex-kings back? That idea failed last year with Lewis and it will fail again with these aging guys. They won't bring back any of the 2021-2014 magic that team had. Chychrun is no different than Gavrikov, so why is LA trading anything for him.

I like Grundstrom in the bottom 6 role, but he never hit potential and I don't think he will get a $1.3m qualifying offer and potentially an UFA, making his trade value is pretty low. Was his time this season in the AHL last season for conditioning or was he sent down/pass through waivers?
Kaliyev might have skill and potential to do well in Tampa, but that still is a gamble. I would take a chance on him but would need to switch over that 4th rounder coming Tampa's way to do the player swap.</div></div>

“Fiala >>>>>>>>> Matheson” My god what an idiotic ****ing statement😅 considering Matheson is a top 10 offensive defenseman in the league and plays a more important position I have to disagree. Fiala isn’t one of the best in the league at anything. He’s a good player, but he’s also a small under a point per game winger who the Kings chose to play below Arvidsson on the depth chart.
Also kid, pick a damn team lol. Growing up my little sister also had 10 favorite teams😂</div></div>
I guess you are trying to troll LA fans with this trade. Because it's horrible for LA. Yes Fiala played 3rd line when Arvidsson came back but that's because LA liked Byfield-Kopitar-Kempe and wanted to see if Arvidsson still fit with the Danault line. Plus, they wanted to see is Fiala could jump start PLDs game. Not because he is a bottom6 player. LA isn't giving up one of their only scoring wingers for a 3rd pairing LD. It's an absolute joke.
And talking about a PP QB? That is always gonna be a Doughty spot and now they have an amazing PP QB coming in with Clarke at like 95% discount over Matheson.
Please leave LA out of your future trade thoughts if this is what you produce.

If you throw in Struble than I'd accept from LA. Dach is a big gamble just like Vilardi was with the injury issues, Armia is a lower tier Iafallo, and Struble is like Kupari as he is near NHL ready guy but blocked by depth. A lot better trades than I've seen Montreal fans make.
