whats the price to move up
you can't just ask to move up and then make your all your valuable players unavailable, moving up to 2nd for example costs a ton

The Hawks can go into free agency and spend similar $$ on a FA and get a similar or better player than Garland and keep their draft capital.
The Canucks would be the ones adding a draft pick(s) not the Hawks.

golie trade for 10th overall
Jake Allen. 3.11 0.900
Petr Mrazek 3.05 0.908
I think we'll keep our 3rd and try to further develop our young goaltenders.

That's some payday for Jake. I don't see how he could turn that down. He isn't going to get anywhere near that from a contender, nor should he. Jake is a 8-9mill type of player to me.

Why it wont be 10th for Ullmark
IMO isn't ]Ullmark to traded. It's almost like the Marner situation. CF fans just because a player is one year away from UFA, he HAS to be traded. Maybe the Bruins should be traded Marchand too:tearsofjoy
Ullmark can change his "trade list" with Bruins approval at any time. Ullmark may want to be traded (to a good team) but that certainly doesn't mean a good team what give up THAT much for him as there are limited suitors for Ullmark.. Bruins just might feel that freeing up 4m 5m (Ullmark minus his 1m replacement) in cap to resign another player is the real benefit.

Top Tier -
Jesse Saros (High Cost)
Jacob Markstrom (Semi-High Cost)

Filip Gustavson (Higher Cost)
Darcy Kuemper (Mid-lower Cost)
Varlomov (Higher Cost)

Mitchj. You were a being rude to PrimeJimbo. And you should know that what a player, agent, coach or GM says in public is meaningless....may or may not be true. Don't you think Marner would waive if a guaranteed extension that Marner approved would allow a trade?

That Panarin proposal doesn’t make sense for either team given where they are in their respective competitive cycles.

Murphy can do that just fine without the flying elbows. He'll take a beating for a penalty and not fight back. He'll steamroll someone if asked. Fight anyone. Not worried about that.

Would sign debrusk and carrier though. I think we'd need to up the AAV to convince them to sign here like we did with Mraz/Foligno/Dickinson

when's the last time you saw a team retain on a contract for 6 years? cant think of a single instance. not to mention retain in a deal where prior to the retention they are giving up more assets.

Hawks won't retain on Jones for 6 years, and Lilypad doesn't come close to covering that much retention anyway. Pretty sure there has never been a trade where a team retained for 6 years. Plus retaining on Jones essentially makes Marner's extension $2m more than whatever it actually costs, which won't be team friendly to start with. If this trade had any shot of happening, the retention is a deal breaker.
