There's nothing in that package the hawks would actually want.

Offseason change up actually becomes competitive

No chance would they run a Jones Chabot pair. That's defensive suicide. And no chance Chabot plays pp over Jones.

Chabot wouldn't get anymore opportunity. Jones is still better than Chabot. Jones would get that pp1 time and Chabot would be 2nd or 3rd pair with either Murphy or whoever the hawks sign in free agency

No they're not going to gamble on Chabot magically playing better on a worse team.

Year 2 Emerge From Rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DylanPaul</b></div><div>Maybe, but CHI have a long way to go before reaching the cap floor. The return is immaterial to this...make it a 7th if you want. They can use center depth who can insulate Bedard next year, and if he performs, they can retain and flip him for more than a 4th at the deadline.</div></div>
Habs have to add a 2nd for Chicago to consider taking Dvorak. There's plenty of UFAs they can overpay to reach the cap floor without handing out free cap space to other teams.

Not with his 8 mil cap hit. Hawks are already overpaying jones. They don't need another overpayed defenseman.

Massive trade at the Draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy316</b></div><div>Who's the Consensus #3OA?
Right now #1 is a Lock , #2 most say Levushunov
#3 has been Eiserman, Demidov, Saliyev ,Lindstrom and Dickinson regularly with guys like Catton, Parekh and even Buium making appearances on some Pro Analysts cards. So BPA is kinda what you make it</div></div>
Sure but if I'm in the position to choose who I think is the best of the bunch I'm not giving up the choice.

what to do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GordM85</b></div><div>only 1 Hawks trade in here...
Ceci is an NHL d man and hawks clearly like overpaying guys so they can hit the cap floor. He seems like an absolute option for them who can tehn flip him retained to a team at the deadline as a good rental piece who can play....just not a great fit with Nurse</div></div>
He's only an option for the hawks if they're getting a 3rd just to take the cap hit. They can easily keep their draft pick, overpay a ufa d man and flip him retained at the deadline.

Hawks aren't touching that Karlsson contract and bertuzzi would be lucky to get 5 mil. No chance anyone gives him 8.

I honestly don't think Chicago would consider any Bedard trades whatsoever. He's already made such a huge impact on the city and when they finally start winning some games that impact will get even bigger. My son plays mite hockey in the Chicago suburbs and almost every single kid on the ice has a Bedard jersey. They lucked into a grand slam home run with this kid. They're not giving him up unless he forces his way out

Hawks will take Smith but they definitely ain't paying for him. You clear cap and Chicago gets to flip him at the deadline. Win. Win.
Pit would have to retain half for Ottawa to consider that karlsson trade

Replace Kane and Ceci
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lancebmx</b></div><div>Just for reference, 3 out of the last 4 trades the Hawks made were them paying depth picks to acquire depth players. Ceci is still a good player, just needs to be in a limited roll unlike the one he has had in Edmonton. Pretty sure Kyle Davidson takes something like this, especially since they have a few open spots on the roster and young guys who will need a bit of sheltering.</div></div>
Just making up stats here? Their last 4 trades were acquiring beauvillier for a 5th when the team was decimated by injuries. Trading beauvillier away for a 5th at the deadline. Paying nothing for an ahl player in rem pitlick. Then paying a 7th for Corey perry which didn't work out.
There's no need to take on ceci's contract without being compensated. If they want a RD they will just sign a ufa. If Edmonton wants to clear cap space they can pay the 3rd round pick that the hawks have gotten in many other cap dump transactions recently or find a different trade partner.
