More than enough for a bottom-6 forward who hasn’t proved much on a team with no leverage plus a bottom pairing defenseman. Riikola for Niku is essentially a wash. Not a bad deal

This is more of a “wishful thinking” deal and less of a legitimate possibility, but I will be more than pleasantly surprised if Rutherford can pull it off

When Kapanen Is Back
If Sullivan is smart (doubt it) he will keep Tanev on the 3rd line and not waste his skills on the 4th line. Hopefully while Kapanen is out that McCann/Jankowski/Tanev line can impress and they can go with Lafferty/Blueger/Rodriguez for the 4th line upon Kapanens return. Then upon ZARs return, go with ZAR/Blueger/Lafferty or Rodriguez as the 4th line for the rest of the season.

Winnipeg CBJ big time deal
Well Winnipeg certainly does. Laine has more value than PLD. It’s CBJ that adds to the deal. Not the other way around

Laine trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PGHBOB69</b></div><div>Lol. Right. I don’t expect west coast teams and Canadian teams fans to know east coast teams players well though. He’s So far off on Rust, Pettersson and Poulin. Lol. Laine is a great goal scorer though. Would love to have him. I know it’s a high price. And I can guarantee he’s under 25..I can tell!! And I know For a fact I played hockey longer and at higher levels than he will ever dream of..lol. I don’t understand hockey contracts or player skills though..lol.</div></div>
Yea I’ve just come to a point where I don’t even bother arguing with morons anymore lol. Too many egotistical and bullheaded people that don’t want to admit when they are wrong. I just let them think they are right. It’s too tiring listening to them spat their stupidity and uneducated nonsense. Laine would be a great add, but I just don’t see the pens giving up the pieces to acquire him. With the little leverage that WPG has though, they probably don’t get what they really want for him and get forced to settle for less.

Depth after expansion draft
Not bad. Certainly won’t cost a first, but the pick would probably have to be a 2nd instead of a 4th. I could actually see them offering up that 2nd round goaltender that they just drafted to Seattle to take Matheson. Matheson isn’t really that bad, so I doubt it would cost an arm and a leg to get Seattle to take him.

Team looks better than it is now. Nice job. Even that bottom pair on defense looks good. Those two will be just fine.

He will get slightly more than Dumo and Petterson. 4-5 years at 4.5-4.75 is his range. 5 mil tops if he has a good year. I could see 5 yr and 5 mil. He sure as hell isn’t getting 8 years. Only way he gets more term and money is if he had a monster year this upcoming season.

Gotta take into account that Seattle will take someone and Marino gets a 4 or 5 year deal worth about 4.5mil is my guess.

How about Tanev on the 1st line
I’ve been on board with this idea for awhile. I feel Tanev would fit that line well. It’s a much better option than wasting him on the 4th line with two true 4th liners in ZAR and Blueger. He should have been on the 3rd line at the very least since the day he signed here. Sure that buzzsaw line is good defensively, but I’m sure the line would have been just fine with ZAR-Blueger-Lafferty. Sullivan’s mismanagement of the team cost them last year and it will cost them again this year. The team is headed for another 1st round exit this year if they don’t fix the bottom six. It’s riddled with 4th liners plus Tanev and McCann. Adding Hinostroza or Fast (first names that came to mind. There are others) would have been solid. A 3rd line of Tanev-McCann-Fast/Hino would have been much better than what they have. Signing one of Jankowski/Rodriguez was fine for depth. The other was unnecessary. They can somewhat salvage what they’ve got if they sign Haula or Walmark, but I’m doubting they do. They may add a player for defensive help, but no more forwards.

Could see that TOR deal happening. At least the ZAR for Holl part. Picks may differ, but with those two players involved.
