Rumors from TDL
i think the rumour is philly turned this down. So at the very least its probably Jokiharju plus.
More likely youd have to swap samuelsson.

Yes having routinely watched the sabres i clearly have no grasp on what it might take to succeed in a rush system. I don't have a poor conception of it. I simply don't agree with your evaluation nor do I believe the Sabres are likely to pursue Couture. You may believe he's a good fit, that's fine. Their history short and long term suggests this move is unlikely. Also Matthew Tkachuk is also one of the best players in the league. If the Sabres wanna go sign a Tkachuk level player more power to them. Couture ain't Tkachuk. Using Tkachuk as the argument for slow players working in rush systems is a bad way to make your point.

Nyet, everyone knows we cant do that (kidding, mostly). It's a balancing act. They need someone to replace mittelstadt in the interim, but you also make that move because you figure one of the 1st round forwards not in the NHL will get there very soon, and you'll want them to have the minutes. If you traded for a 3C and signed Marchessault, that likely leaves a deserving 1st rounder somewhere in the AHL again.

Everything non Sabres related, big or small, gives me immense joy. Don't hate just cause you know I'm right deep down. We had this exact convo numerous times last year.

With Couture we are talking about a free asset here. A top 6 caliber centerman over 100 playoff games and nearly a ppg in the playoffs. That has a lot more value than you are giving it credit
You sound like the Red Wings fans who didn't want to sign Kane because he was old and washed. Also aren't you one of the fans that wants Buffalo to sign Tanev? Tanev is older than Couture</div></div>
No? i mean if i was i certainly am not anymore. Im not downplaying Couture's success, or his pedigree. But he's not a fit. He does his best work in a non rush based system. I would love nothing more than for the Sabres to add a veteran who both had valuable experience and could do this. That seems unlikely.

No, but as long as they prolong Detroit's that's a win.
Nobody is going to make the mistake of hyping this team up anymore (outside of buffalo). The owner is a clown and the average age of the team keeps getting younger. They are what they are. A bunch of question marks that could surprise, but odds are they won't.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>You underappreciate what Couture does greatly. Your team needs leadership and veteran presence. Even if he's slower than he used to be he is still a high IQ player and knows how to control gaps. Speed doesn't make you good at hockey, Holland traded for Athanasiou a few years back to have someone keep up with McDavid and it was a complete flop.</div></div>
im not under-appreciating anything. Im following the trends and patterns of the team. They jettisoned their slowest and oldest guys and added speed. That's likely the blueprint they follow into the summer. The team doesn't need leadership and veteran presence. That's exactly the line of thinking that brought in Erik Johnson and re-signed Kyle Okposo. Crazy how without their "leadership" the team has a pulse?
Dahlin may be young but he's got nearly 450 games to his name. Alex Tuch will probably be at 450 by the end of this year. They don't need veterans for the sake of having veterans, they need players who can execute in a rush system when teams start trapping the netural zone. That's not Couture, even if he is still good.

The team traded away its 3 slowest players and added a guy who skates like the wind and suddenly theyre playing actual hockey that doesnt make fans want to gouge their eyes out.
I highly doubt they follow that up by signing a guy who skates like he's wearing 30 lb ankle weights. Even if he is a bills fan.

I would do this for Buchnevich if I thought I could get more than one year from him. Even if its a short term high AAV deal. Its just hard for me to picture him wanting that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy316</b></div><div>I agree on Dvorak but kinda am shocked no one gives Jake Evans any Respect
Im not saying he's great but he's top 10 in basically every MTL stats line from top to bottom
Minutes wise he's 10th-13th upgrading as trades were made and now playing top 10 minutes on par with the average he's held everywhere else.
Is he fast? depends on the Position
Play him on Wing you'll go "when did he learn how to skate"
Play him on Center he's defense first, last and always never over skating and sacrificing position.
Think of him a little like Pageau as his speed goes off the charts when you move him to wing but at center he's going 1/3rd his capable speed.
Center's got more on their plate and got to play tactically
Again you dont have to take him
Im just saying its kinda harsh overlooking our teams 2nd best faceoff Center who plays a solid 3rd line role for us making Dvo long past Expendable
IMO DVO needs a substance abuse program or just a good summer detox cause the bloating he has on the work out schedule he does is from the Beer
He gets that crap out of his system he'll improve but at about age 25 your body reminds you you're not invincible and things you could soldier through before need adapted to now.
C'est La Vie</div></div>
I dont have an issue with Evans. I think he's great at what he does and Id take him on my team. But the Sabres specifically need someone better than that for the 3C spot.

Engstrom (mtl add second)
Harris (mtl add second and fifth)
Struble (Buffalo add second)</div></div>
In a way I did. We dont have room for another d-man, that eliminates half this list. And we need the next forward add to be a legit nhl player. Which eliminates the rest
