I'd honestly just prefer to keep Koskinen. I don't think Edmonton will be trading for a goalie.

Just the facts.</div></div>
Not disputing those facts, but what is the math behind it. Not tryna be a dick about it, I'm just interested in that sort of stuff.
I find it hard to believe that Danny Dekeyser has played more time against elites than Nick Leddy has. Keith, I can see, due to the fact Bouchard was playing on the third pairing early in the season.

If he retires this summer the Oilers will get a salary cap boost. If he plays out his contract, then he hurts insofar as he's paid more than he is able to bring on the ice. IMO he hurts a bit this year, and potentially quite a bit next year. In contrast, the only value Reinhart brought the Oilers was as expansion draft fodder. That cost them a shot at some seriously good talent in a pretty deep draft class. I say that hurts more.</div></div>
Yeah, I'll be the first to admit that Keith has been playing better than I anticipated, didn't have a great game last night though. However, giving up a third (thinking it would have been a second) and Caleb Jones (who's been solid this year) is giving up way too much.

Griffin Reinhart hurt in the long term, but Keith hurts both in the long term and short term.
Plus he had all the leverage in the world and gave up WAY too much.

Leddy is getting owned, even in relation to his teammates. And Keith has harder zone starts, fewer OTF starts and plays tougher comp than Leddy. Not a chance in 100 Leddy plays ahead of Keith.
Leddy plays top minutes and doesn't have two offensive powerhouses on his team lol. Also Keith does not have the tougher assignments, tf you talking about?
I'm an Oilers fan, btw,
Edmonton isn't interested in your junk. If you value them highly that's your prerogative, but take them elsewhere.
Thanks.</div></div>

Honestly one of the worst trades in Edmonton history. I'd argue worse than a 1st and 2nd for Griffin Reinhart.

We can probably agree it's highly unlikely that condition will be triggered; but until it is certain that the Oilers won't trigger it, Chicago has dibs on Edmonton's 2022 2nd round pick. The Jets can't have it at the TDL. I'm not convinced the Oilers would give up for Stanley anyway.</div></div>
They added this thinking that they were a cup contender. Jones, a conditional 3rd and taking on Keith's full salary is a worse trade than Reinhart for a 1st and a 2nd

I write about the Wings, so I was watching it cheering for the Wings, but that was an awesome game.
Also Caleb Jones had a solid defensive game tonight. Can't believe Edmonton traded a third (thinking it'd be a second), Jones AND took on Keith's full salary.

Honestly, Chiarelli is less bad than Holland.
Hall for Larsson, while he undervalued Hall, made complete sense. Edmonton's only RHD was Eric Gryba
Eberle for Strome doesn't look to bad now. He just was impatient with him (and then traded him for Spooner)

He had a great playoff run, since then, he has been average to bad.
Plus that's a ton of futures to be giving away for a guy that has a .901 save percentage (Koskinen has a .899)

Can't even afford that. Detroit would have to take contract back (probably Koskinen.) Or, Detroit can retain % of Leddy

No interest at all. Have a great day.</div></div>
Nick Leddy is MILES ahead of Duncan Keith, what are you talking about. I won't lie, Keith hasn't been as bad as I thought he would be, but the guy is not better than Leddy dude. If you want to contend, Broberg will stay in the AHL until next season. Let him get some consistent minutes.
Gagner may be an extra, but he is a much better penalty killer (again, 102 penalty minutes killed) than Shore and he actually has the ability to produce, which is missing big time from the Oilers bottom 6.
You're undervaluing Leddy tremendously, while overrating Niemelaninen's value.

Driedger is NOT a good replacement for Koskinen lol. A slightly better contract, but with more term is not good. He's a backup goalie.
Getting rid of all forward depth (and a 3rd) for Haydn Fleury and Driedger's contract is not a smart idea.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>Leddy isn't a 2LD, that's silly.
Gagner isn't a center, so he doesn't replace Ryan at all.
Edmonton has no use for any of these guys. Why would they give up a 2nd + a nearly-NHL-ready shutdown defenseman?</div></div>
I don't think you watch a lot of Leddy lol. The guy eats minutes and can put up a solid amount of points in a season. Getting him a $2,750,000 is an absolute steal.
Gagner may not play a ton of center anymore, but the guy has more skill and kills a ton of penalty minutes. You just lose Ryan's face off ability. Realistically, you could get rid of Sceviour or Shore.
Niemelaninen got walked around A LOT during his stint here. I'm not so high on him (Samarukov and Broberg profile much better).

I think the Oilers under pay massively here.
Leddy fixes a lot of issues (2LD)
Gagner is an upgrade over Ryan (Gagner has 102 TOI on the penalty kill, 20 minutes more than any player on the Wings)
Griess isn't good, but he and Koskinen have similar stats
You're giving up Markus Neimelainen (who is meh) and a 2nd for rentals, two of which improve the team.
Wings get a second and a meh prospect.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DogDayCaps2</b></div><div>Imo it would be impossible to trade Leddy without retaining any $$$. 5.5m is a lot of money. His value is a 2nd imo. Now if teams go full on crazy and start to outbid each other it’s not impossible for him to get a 2nd + a good prospect OR a playoffs team 1st (16-32). I’m not really downplaying Leddy abilities.. I wouldn’t trade for him if I didn’t think he was good. cap hit is why I feel he’s worth a 3rd w no retention.</div></div>
If Leddy's contract was 2.75, he's worth a first easily. Don't forget you're also adding in Namestnikov while dumping Schultz's contract. Detroit has Seider and Hronek as their top 2 RHD, while this trade would make Danny DeKeyser their top LHD dman.
There's a lot of negatives for the Wings.
