Edmonton for Hall
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ksporer</b></div><div>Don't think the Oilers would trade Russell at this point, and Sabres would want a better prospect than Lavoie I would think. and the only way we give up a first round pick in any case is if its conditional on us re-signing Hall.</div></div>
They won't trade him because they're stubborn as **** lol.
They may want a better prospect, but again, the dude has TWO GOALS. Let me reiterate:
Adam Larsson: 3 goals
Taylor Hall: 2 goals
They are selling incredibly low. This isn't MVP Hall, this is Buffalo Hall. Any team willing to overpay Hall by giving an A prospect and taking that whole cap hit needs to fire their GM right away.
Like I said, this is a complete overpayment on behalf of Edmonton.

You're telling me to buy him out like it's my decision lmao. Buying him out is literally the best option, as they wouldn't be trading a first and wouldn't have to give up a prospec they're high on.

Thread:
Edmonton for Hall
So in this trade, Russell (4m cap hit) will be going to Buffalo to balance Hall's cap hit. Edmonton has a surplus of defenseman, and Russell will be making what he's worth next season.
The prospect going to Buffalo will be Lavoie, who Edmonton is high on. He has a decent ceiling. The first will also be going in to Buffalo. That is the main trade, which frankly is an overpayment for Edmonton. Those who say it's an underpayment are looking at Hall as the MVP, not as the 2 goal scorer this season. Adam Larsson literally has more goals.
The second will be if Hall re-signs.

Hall TO Edmonton
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>They currently have teams bidding against each other and they started with a ridiculous ask, let alone adding in the 50% retention</div></div>
There is a difference between bidding and a final offer. For example, there was many teams looking at Kyle Lowry at the NBA trade deadline. No teams offered what Toronto wanted, thus he was not traded. That could very well be the same and even though many teams will be looking at him, the guy has two goals. That is LITERALLY less than Adam Larsson. 8 million is way to much to move during the season, so a retention of cap is a must. The only reason teams are looking at him is because he's been a successful player in the past. If he weren't a number 1 pick, the dude would be traded for scraps, that's how bad he's been this season.

Hall TO Edmonton
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>They can. The Oilers have TONS of cap space this summer - there are no issues at all.</div></div>
Have to sign:
Yamamoto
Larsson
Nugent-Hopkins if he stays
Barrie if he stays (if not trade him)
Shore and Kahun to low level deals
Ennis
There a few players there that definitely need to be signed (Nuge, Yamamoto) and more that should be signed.
They may not have as much as you think
Plus Nurse is due for a huge pay raise after next season.

If they can sign him, yes. Nuge's value is low at the minute, so is Debrusks. I'm sure you'd have to offer a bit more.

I'd rather that first go for the rental of Taylor Hall than for it to go to moving Neal's contract. Again, the dude would make 2 million for an extra 4 years. Definitely better than 5 million for 2 years.

Yeah, Buffalo is eating 50% if Hall is traded to Edmonton.
Not a fan of trading Bear, he hasn't had a great season, but he's also had a concussion, so let's not just trade him for a rental. Also I doubt they trade Savoie for a rental.
Maybe if the trade was Hall with 50% absorbed and Ullmark for Koskinen (remember that modified NTC) or even Russell, Jones, Kahun and a pick.

The need to shed that Neal contract to get some more skill to play with MCD and Draisaitl, or another D man, or a goalie. With a flat cap for the foreseeable future, there's not many teams in a position to do this, and Stevey Y sure isn't gonna do Holland any favors.....</div></div>
It's called a buyout. Sure it extends what they'd have to pay Neal, but the cap hit will be much less. They have another D man named Klefbom, a perfect top four guy who'll hopefully be ready next season.

They can buy him out though and it'll only cost around a million a year. Why would they trade a prospect they're high on and a first which they'd rather use for a much better rental.

If edmonton wants to trade neal and get almost 5 mill cap space x2 yrs to try and improve their team while mcdavid is still there theyll have to pay up to get rid of that contract plain and simple</div></div>
Edmonton could buyout Neal and barely have to pay that. They're high on Savoie AND you want them to include a first, when they could be doing so for let's say Taylor Hall?
You're a Detroit fan, but this is hella one-sided dude.

It's not nearly enough for Hoffman. Nylander is a prospect and he'll be nowhere as good as his brother. Pouliot is a bad hockey player and Beaulieu used to have potential. Now he does not.
Hoffman is a bonafide sniper who has nearly had 30 goals seasons 3 years in a row.

defense is a little bit meh. Wouldn't play Russell on the top pairing. That's asking for trouble.
Maybe something like:
Nurse-Larsson (both eat minutes)
Klefbom-Sekera (Sekera played RD in 2015-16 because Edmonton had none)
Russell-Benning
Davidson
