(MTL/WSH) - Kovalchuk for 2020 3rd round pick
36 YO UFA that has 1 point in his last 7 games. MB Picked him up for a free a month ago and got a 3rd round pick out of it.
I wish him luck in Washington. If Kovalchuk truly wants to play here, he can sign again in the summer.

I was under the assumption he was a rental- he's absolutely worth a first and B prospect if he's controllable at a reasonable price.

4th line aside.....I really don't mind this team.
- JK looks like he is a lot bigger
- I hope Lehkonen gets a chance to play on the top line. Works really hard and has some skill.
- Pray Brook is in the AHL to develop

New York Islanders signed Derick Brassard (1 Year / $1,200,000 AAV)
Nice move from the Isles. Low risk signature. Brassard still has good hockey in him and he can take a good leader role for the young guys there.

Very good value for Deslaurier. I mean, he wouldn't even make the roster in montreal

Good deal for both sides. Can act as a mentor to Hart, numbers weren't terrible last year. If he can stay healthy and play 35 ish games, this deal looks good!

(NSH/NJD) - Subban for Santini, Davies, 2019 2nd round pick, 2020 2nd round pick
Can't believe New Jersey paid that much to acquire a Cancer to the locker room. We all know who won the trade, It's not NJD or NSH
IT'S THE MONTREAL CANADIENS. THANKS FOR WEBER :)

Why would Florida trade all of that when they can get Bread and Bob for just cap space in July?

1. Too much money.
2. Too much term.
3. Poor draft pick by Dorion.
4. Never gonna make it on defense. </strong>

Big win for Bergevin here. Kulak has been super consistent throughout the season. He easily deserves more than 1.85M imo

Vegas Golden Knights signed Ryan Reaves (2 Years / $2,775,000 AAV)
Look, yeah it's an overpay but..........
Vegas is far from "in cap trouble"
and it's only 2 years
if they had given him any more term i would have been a lot more salty over this

The only thing I can figure with Reaves, is that he must be a hell of a good locker room guy, because he certainly isn't worth that kind of money on the ice. You just don't pay close to $3M for a guy that averages under 10 minutes of ice time a game. He must be the guy everyone goes to for peer counseling and one hell of a company yes man.
I mean, if he had a career year and was getting more playing time on a regular basis, I could maybe see a bit of a raise, but this is about a 150% raise when he arguably had a bad year (by his own standards).
Sure. Vegas has the cap space to burn, and maybe they want to put players on notice that they are willing to fork it out for free agents, but they went overboard. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
I have a hard time believing they couldn't have gotten him to agree for $2M or less AAV.
