Offer Sheeting Viability
Just to clarify on the off chance you were suggesting this, you wouldn't be able to do the offer sheets at the same time if the compensation overlaps and if you want to attempt it on 3 players the each team likely makes you wait the full week before confirming they're matching which increases the likelihood the other teams will come to terms with their player.
Of course you could go with Doug Wilson's move from back in 2010. He offer sheeted Hjalmarsson for an amount more than Chicago would've been able to give him, then once Chicago spent the money on him they offered Niemi a contract Chicago could no longer afford since they'd spent the money on Hjalmarsson's deal.
In this case something comparable would be offer sheeting Byfield to a pricy deal but not enough that they don't match, then signing Arvidsson or Matt Roy, or offer sheeting Lundell and using the space to sign Reinhart or Montour.
Teams have gotten better at freeing up cap space though and I could see them dealing with going up to 10% over the cap in the summer and then giving up assets to another team (my Sharks are interested!) to free up that space rather than let you get away with it.

Questionning the future
Dvorsky
Carlsson is better and if we had no #1 he had the ability to like Suzuki play a 1A/1B situation
Dvorsky regardless of people claiming he has top 6 upside to me is a Slovak Dvorak with Personality and Explosiveness .
But overall he's utilized for his Faceoff and possession skills with his ability to control the NZ putting him over. Both weak area's for MTL
With Owen Beck projecting like a higher end version of Yannic Perrault / Antoine Vermette hybrid it makes Dvorsky the more comfortable option.
Especially with Slovak's Slafkovsky and Mesar projecting in similar positions long term this could be really special
We saw the difference in how Slaf speaks to our Media vs how he spoke with one of the top Slovak players all time in Tomas Tatar
His Energy level despite playing against the guy he was talking to was off the charts and he seemed like a different player all together.
I want to build on that if im the GM or VP cause you NEED Slafkovsky to be not only good but a Home Run All Star and future 1st ballot HOFer if your Gorton after taking Lafrenierre just years before and having him never really live up to the hype to the point it was a contributing reason to him being fired.
Carlsson could be amazing but again seems redundant and this is before PLD factors in

Great Deal for MTL
Holloway’s a Stud and Barrie (just as good as Klingberg but much cheaper) can contribute and put up just as many points as Anderson and would be a good mentor for their Power Play. I would try to send Puljujarvi + a mid-pick instead of Holloway if I were EDM though
I don’t believe Ylonen will turn in to much so to get a 2nd back isn’t bad. EDM could maybe send Quebecer Raphael Lovoie instead of the 2nd.
Wideman doesn’t hold much value but is needed to replace Barrie in EDM

Says who? If the Oilers are a Kane away from winning a cup, that's not true then. Bouchard, while more valuable in the future, does not win them a cup this year. Owners generally speaking have one goal, that is to increase revenues (value) and winning a cup is the number one way to do that. That said, I doubt the Oilers are a kane away from winning a cup, but context matters when you say Kane is not worth Bouchard...that's not necessarily objectively true and subjective based on who you talk to.

You'll be disappointed as this draft has about 5-8 good prospects and a bunch of maybes. 12-26 aint much of a difference in a covid year of development. Be Thankful Stan Bowman was feeling generous with the number 6 pick.

Farrell is quality, the 26th pick is quality and the 36th pick is quality. That is 3 quality pieces when realistically it only costs the 26th pick + one of Farrell or the 33rd pick or the 36th pick to move up to 12th. Again look at last years Detroit trade, they got 15th for 23rd + 48th + 138th. The original offer is a huge overpayment and it is ridiculous to say that they pass as there is not enough quality.

LMAO, what do you think 12th is worth, Caufield + Suzuki?! Moving from 26th to 12th range (14 spots only costs the Habs 2nd. Don't believe me check out the Detroit trade last year, Detroit traded picks 23 + 48 + 138 to Dallas for pick 15 (8 spots) therefore picks 26 + 33 gets you to 12 easily (possibly to 10th) adding Ferrall should get you to 6-10th. All this to say that there is no way Columbus turns that down.

Montreal Build
I agree with your idea of putting Dubois at LW with Suzuki and Caufield, he would be a great fit. He and Suzuki could share faceoff duties which would be a nice bonus.
The trade is probably a fair offer but not enough for the Jets to do considering they just gave up Laine and Roslovic for Dubois. I think they would want Dvorak if they are trading a C, and MTL would probably be open to that to shed salary (Dubois will want more than he is given here, probably 8 yrs x $8M).
So maybe:
- RW Josh Anderson (5 yrs x $5.5M)
- C Christian Dvorak (3 yrs × $4.45M)
- CGY 2022 1st Round Pick (26th)
For:
- C/LW Pierre-Luc Dubois (8 yrs × $8M)
Jets fans would still probably say no, but that's wild considering the player they are trading is now demanding out of another organization and is 2 years from being a UFA.
For MTL, while it would be nice to have Dubois locked up long term... is the time really right? MTL could likely get a 1st for Anderson and a 1st for Dvorak in seperate deals and keep the CGY 1st. Maybe they sign Dubois as a UFA in two years? Or another UFA?

This might be the first somewhat reasonable Anderson-Isles trade I've seen. He's not worth the 13th overall (much less the 13th overall plus Beauvillier), but I could maybe see a trade down scenario like this. Although I'd expect the Isles would want the late 1st Montreal got from Calgary (or Florida in this ACGM) rather than a 2nd.

The difference between 28 and 36 isn't really much quality, especially in this draft, but I understand...I'm certainly not defending the trade, just saying that data suggests that this would actually be a poor move for the Habs, especially given that 15OA to 60-70ish OA is kinda a crap shoot at this point.

It’s funny when people just shut their minds down after they’ve read the part that they don’t like, and just skip over the rest. I couldn’t give two kangaroos whether you like it or not, because I don’t have a horse in the race. All I’ve pointed out is that your opinion that you’re getting ripped off is a pretty big stretch considering what historical data suggests that the value of those picks actually is. I get being a homer, and that’s cool and everything, but sometimes it’s easier to have a logical conversation when you actually add perspective.

Just from Edmonton, Duncan Keith's $5.5M deal would only cost $1.5M in cash, while Klefbom's $4.167M contract wouldn't cost anything. They have TONS of options that they would get paid to take.

Keith have a front loaded contract too, but he have a full NMC and only waived it to be traded to Edmonton.
Klefbom going on LTIR doesn't help them save money reaching cap floor. Weber would go in IR, counting for 7.8M against the cap, but only cost 1M.

I didn't create this thread. However, he is not asking for a 1st. He is giving MTL 2nd (33 overall) and a 4th for Colorado's 1st (probably 30-32), so he's only moving up 1 to 3 spot, and add a 4th as compensation. So he's basically giving Weber for nothing. I personally think Weber will be traded to AZ for either a late pick or future considerations (nothing).
You don't seem to understand how they would save 25M+ over the next 4 years, or don't think Coyotes owners would drool over a contract like Weber's, so i won't bother explaining anymore.
