<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NucksnOilers</b></div><div>What's the answer then? Ride out a goalie who has proven to not be the answer? Find a replacement in Free Agency not promised to work? A move needs to be made desperately that gets this team going, Binnington is the type of gutsy player that we need to have.</div></div>
I can agree that Binnington may be a worthy target but disagree with how you went about getting him &amp; building out the roster in front of him.

I take issue with the price you paid as you seem to be treating Skinner as a cap dump. Otherwise, giving up a 1st, a younger starting goalie, and two players from the team's already diminished prospect pool is a radical overpayment in my estimation. The highest I'd go is Skinner and a '26 2nd (maybe add a condition that it becomes a 1st if EDM wins the Cup before then).

Next is that your solution occupies an extra 3.4mil of space that I'd rather see used for other purposes. My solution would start by getting Nurse an actual top-4 RD as a partner. One that can skate, defend well, and hopefully can even make a decent breakout pass. The past 5 years has seen him play primarily top pairing minutes with either Ceci, Barrie, and Bear- each of whom suffers from two of three particularly limiting defensive deficiencies: below average skating, poor positioning, or being smaller than average. My main target for that is A. Carrier but there are a decent number of RD upgrades available this offseason who could such a role (one of whom you sign, so we agree there).

Lastly, I take some issue with the particulars of the moves you made. Your choices end up leaving the forward corps both lacking in scoring punch and (somehow) even older than before and it's seemingly because of the extra money you put towards the goaltending. That's the last thing this team needs more of. What they need is an infusion of speed &amp; prime-aged players in the 24-29 range. Players that are both mature and still have the capacity to infuse energy &amp; pace.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey_Soul</b></div><div>Pretty solid. I would just switch Sillinger and Jenner.

I think they absolutely have to add a vet dman like Tinordi on a one year deal this year to support the young guys and provide some depth.

My one (or two) wish(es) would be finding an upgrade for Laine and/or Merzlikins.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dopplsan</b></div><div>I like these…CBJ are at a weird place with the rebuild. A roster full of mostly young guys who just need the development and opportunity. Not really a lot of worthwhile vets who can be moved. Provorov will get moved, Laine as well (assuming he comes back healthy and can get back to the PPG player he showed flashes of), and I could see an Elvis buy-out either this off-season or next.

The G situation will need another year since Greaves is still waivers exempt, and has looked great in the AHL and limited NHL time (considering the team in front of him). Maybe Ivanov ends up being the real deal (he’s been a stud in the KHL), but he’s still best-case a few years away.

My only issue is the Marchy and Chinny contracts. I’d like to see M’s longer, and C’s shorter. He had a great breakout-season, but still had some injury problems, and I’d want to see him replicate it.</div></div>
Okay, thanks for the input! I decided to keep Merzi because I figured there wasn't a huge press to solve the problem this year and, since I don't really see a great candidate to swap with (apart from maybe Husso in Detroit), I figured it wise to leave it until next year. I feel similarly about Laine.

As for the Marchinny contracts, I can see what you mean, but I think they're well positioned to gamble a bit on Chinakhov. If you were to adjust them, would you think something like 4 * 3 for Chinakhov and 5.5 * 5 for Marchenko? Or would your aim to go long-term for Marchenko even if it costs upwards of 7mil?

Thread: Drai offer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AEcho</b></div><div>Just to add from NSH's perspective, its definitely an interesting thought as it isn't something I had considered, but this is too much future for NSH to give up for a guy to attempt to win now. Drai would solve a lot of NSH's problems, but the overarching problem NSH faces is the team isn't in a win-now state. This year, if anything, was an overperformance of expectations. Forsberg had a career year (again somehow) and O'Rilley and Nyquist somehow went back to their prime for a season, and Josi put up a year worthy of Norris consideration (doubt he wins though). The odds of this happening again, let alone 2 or 3 more times is slim to none as all of those players will start next year at 30+.

If any goalie is getting moved from NSH it is going to be Saros. Additionally, Evangelista isn't going to be moved given how well he has done and how well he adapted to Brunette's system. Asking NSH to move Evangelista would be like asking TOR to move Knies. I also doubt NSH would be willing to move on from Molendyk as Molendyk is looking to be Josi's eventual replacement as he really stepped up his game in the WHL this year, despite being injured for a portion of it and I wouldn't be surprised if he plays in the AHL next year.

I did see mention of Wood as well, and I think it is too early for NSH to consider moving him, especially considering he is moving programs (UCONN to UND). This could do a lot for his development as well, and NSH would probably want to see how that goes before making a decision on him. That said, he is among the more expendable prospects NSH has as they have several other projected top 6 RW's in system (Kemell, Evangelista, Fink, and even Tomasino).</div></div>
