2022 cuz why not
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jluqueSF</b></div><div>bigger question for Ducks fans, what about a Nylander + Woll/Scott (+ aux. pcs) for Gibson (and aux. pcs) ?
Nylander can be the offensive replacement to Getz/Rakell; Leafs need a long term G (at a great $); Ducks could UFA a bridge goalie (or have the $$ for Binnington/anderson), and then have a young goalie in the system (if they don't already?)</div></div>
Gibby would be a particularly expensive goalie to acquire honestly maybe even more than other top 5 goalies. Gibby is a goalie who on any other team would perennially be in Vezina contention, he is young, and he is locked up for 7 year for less than 7 mill, even to other comparable goalies are typically getting pains ~10 mil. Also this trade comes in much different circumstances than the Andersen trade, as ANA has no need to trade him and thus has the upper hand in negotiations. With this in mind I wouldn’t be necessarily be surprised if the deal was Nylander, a 1st, and a decent prospect like Niemela. Of course it’s a goalie trade so who the hell really knows, but just considering ANAs situation, his youth and his cheap cap hit, it would probably be expensive, he is literally our only elite player rn.

You too man, I can certainly see you point of his value having dwindled as a result of the decreased production, also I agree Willy is the better player, especially seeing some of the snipes he has had to start the season!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jinx21</b></div><div>Except, literally, 69 points in 77 games isn't close to a point per game. And that was by far his best season. His draft position is only relevant to establish he wasn't some elite prospect that still might take the next step. Nine years in, he is what he is. He's always played topline minutes, including PP1 - something Nylander has never gotten. Again, keep your player!</div></div>
You don’t have to accept the exact trade scenario I presented but at the very least you could admit the current proposed trade you have made is a massive underevaluation of his value

Also the leafs literally got a 15th overall pick and a prospect for kasperi kapanen, a late first round who has yet to produce like Rakell has

Except he literally got 69 points in 77 games two years ago, he is honestly not that far off production wise from Nylander if he has a decent playmaker like Tavares or Marner with him, I can assure you he would produce almost a ppg and hover around 30 goals again if you played him with one of those two,. Or if you want you can just be ignorant. Also what does his draft position from 10 years ago have to do with anything, I guess Corey Perry or Pasternak were never worth a damn as well

Two meh prospects isn’t sniffing the value of a
player with 30 goal upside and who has a sub 4 mil cap hit 2 years of contract and is still pretty young. Try again, would probably cost you a first and Niemela or something, he’ll with the current state of affairs in the league it could take more!

Bro the only reason Rakell has been meh the last two years is cause the Ducks suck, if you put Rakell with Panarin I can guarantee he will get 30 goals, also the difference in capability between Lindholm and DeAngelo is astronomical, rangers need to add big to this

Can you be considered to be having a breakout season if you are a rookie? I feel like the term is typically used for those who have been in the NHL but haven’t made a major impact yet

I Hate This Team
I mean it was pretty clear to see that this team wasn’t gonna compete for at least this year maybe even 2, we should be taking time with our valuable prospects. If Bob makes some deadline deals and keeps drafting well it shouldn’t be too long, plus who knows maybe we end up with Shane Wright or Lambert at this rate, that wouldn’t be too bad

Prospect update - WCJ
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMs</b></div><div>Thank you. But people like Jetman who comes arguing when he is not watching the games, get the **** out. Those people are so annoying. Oh, Caufield didn’t score 10 goals, he didn’t had a good tournament. Anyways, yes I agree on Zegras shot, I thought he was only a playmaker but is shot is way better now and more accurate. Good prospect you got there</div></div>
I was expecting a bit of improved shooting and stuff but he is a legitimate dual threat, I used to wonder if he would ever be a consistent 20 goal scorer or if he would be a bit like marker where he is just there for the assists but if he keeps shooting like he has his shot shouldn’t be a problem. I’ve also been impressed with Caufields ability to get open on the ice for a pass and it looks like his passing has gotten better too

Prospect update - WCJ
Some of the people in this thread need to chill out a bit,
People are far too reactionary at WJC performances, it’s not something you base your entire perception of a prospect off of, if Caufield, Byfield or Zegras went entirely scoreless this WJC while it may be disappointing and many raise a couple red flags with me I would still refuse to say they are busts, based on 7 weird games. World juniors are good to observe prospects sure but they really only tell a small story, for example, coming into this tourney I was expecting zegras to put on a passing clinic but coming out of it I’m seeing that he has really taken his shooting to a new level and may bring some goal scoring touch to the NHL, and that isn’t even because of his goals but rather my observations of the increased quality and use of his shot, people should change their perception of the world juniors as a place to see who will be the best prospect and instead use it to see how a prospect uses their skills, essentially the WJC won’t tell you a prospect career success but it may tell you what they’ve improved on or what they were already good at, take pieces of the cake not the whole thing.

I can really see him becoming a bottom six guy who is used on the PP in the bumper position, and for a Sixth round pick that’s really good, also he’s being great physical presence
