Next Season with Henrique
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>A guess the question is for the Wings, do they want 5.875 Henrique for three full years or can they find better value in the summer. I think the Wings pass, but the Wings and Sens might be able the only teams that would claim Henrique.</div></div>
They can definitely find guys for 3C, can't see too many 2Cs that would sign to a rebuilding team. Unless they want Fabbri at 2C or someone like Bozak at 2C, I think Henrique is a good option.
I think Detroit is the team that could use him most. He is an upgrade over Fabbri at C and Nielsen. They can then put Fabbri back at LW. They can play Henrique with guys like Fabbri and Zadina and if his stock rises, they can trade him at the deadline the next season or one of the seasons after that.

Mantha
It really comes down to would you trade Mantha for Holloway (I don’t currently)? As Turris is worth nothing and the first rounder negates Neal’s negative value. Glendening may return a third at this years TDL but not a ton of value either.
When you factor in that we already have Zadina, Raymond, and Berggren as wing prospects or young roster players does it make sense to add Holloway instead of someone like Broberg?
Your probably going to get some push back on Neal too since most on this site don’t want to pay futures/prospects to unload cap space from underwhelming roster players.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>you can think a player is useful, while realizing he isn't a world beater all at the same time.</div></div>
You’re grasping at straws here. Mantha is our most skilled player, fact (both eye and analytics back this). No one is saying he’s a generational talent but rather it would cost to get him. You also offer nothing of value to Detroit in this trade given our RHDs and that Thompson isn’t good. He’s been on a 70+ pt pace the past two years so offer accordingly and with team needs in mind.

Deadline sales
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>There's comes a time when you don't only trade for picks. Detroit needs to start adding prospects that teams are willing to give up on so that they can gradually start being more competitive sooner. Adding any pick outside the 1st round takes likely 4-6 years to really have an impact on the team. They wanna be contending before then</div></div>
You can always add those second - fourth rounders to create a pipeline. We have guys like Seider, Raymond, Berggren, Johansson, and Veleno making the jump in the next year or so. Then the next group Wallinder, Niederbach, Tuomisto, Soderblom, etc. What’s the harm in adding those second - fourth rounders versus losing the player for nothing? Do we need to move all of them? No, but Yzerman is probably having or had discussions with our player personnel staff to determine who is ready for the jump so they can plan on who is going to get re-signed and what holes need filled. It also helps that Detroit has a boatload of cap so they can pursue whoever they want or acquire cap dumps for more picks.

Deadline sales
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>Then you bring in veterans to help the young kids. The point is to surround your young players that will make the jump sooner with better talent so they're not used to the losing environment. Adding late round picks that may or may not make the roster for 4-6 years doesn't help their development</div></div>
You bring in veterans via FA not through trading. There isn’t a cookie cutter plan to the Stanley Cup except acquiring the most complete/efficient team. Acquiring prospects/picks for expiring veterans is really a no down side approach to maximizing asset management. Like I said Yzerman is having or already had discussions surrounding what holes need filled (eg 2C, 1LHD) these are then filled via FA.

This one stings. It's a steal of a contract for the Wings.
The other two were drastic overpayments by the Flames. It softens the blow a lot. Given we got Holtby for a steal and CGY took markstrom for too long, I consider that a win.</div></div>
$6,000,000 is not an overpay for Markstrom (0.918 SV%).
$4,300,000 is a massive overpay for Holtby (0.897 SV%).
<strong>Markstrom is drastically better. </strong>
$4,500,000 is not an overpay for Christopher Tanev.
$6,000,000 is a massive overpay for Tyler Myers.
<strong>Tanev is drastically better.</strong>
The only reason Vancouver missed out is because Benning can't manage the cap:
$6,000,000 = Eriksson
$6,000,000 = Myers
$4,400,000 = Sutter
$4,300,000 = Holtby <strong>(0.897 SV%)</strong>
$3,500,000 = Ferland
$3,400,000 = Baertschi <strong>(Minors)</strong>
$3,000,000 = Luongo <strong>(Penalty)</strong>
$3,000,000 = Roussel
$3,000,000 = Beagle
$2,000,000 = Benn
$1,000,000 = Spooner <strong>(Buyout)</strong>
<strong>That's 40 million dollars right there ... I mean .. WOW. </strong>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>buffbry</b></div><div>Completely disagree, it's more then power, there are 3-4 stud Dmen next year that are all as good as serg. If we want serg we can trade the same pick to tampa but top 5 protect it. Then we sign serg to a way less deal as well. 7*7 which saves us cap hit also. Even if we had a remote chance of getting power, I wouldn't trade the pick knowing he's there next year. Chris pronged meets Shea weber meets bobby orr. You see this kid play? He is 6'5 and is dominant, speed is unreal for his size. No chance I would even give up the 18.7% we get him</div></div>
A trade for Serg would cost way more than what an OS does, especially if Tampa is set on re-signing him, which I am sure they are.
All of those "studs" are complete question marks. None of them, right now, are in the same league as Serg (literally and metaphorically). Serg is an NHL Dman. Those kids are playing in college or juniors haha.

Of course it is. Sergachev is a 9th overall pick. He's a 22 year-old top pair Dman on the left side. Wings aren't missing out on a Connor McDavid next year. He is absolutely worth the "potential" #1 pick.

Rather have owen power over serg when it's all said and donez so if we can't protect it and we win #1 we lose owen power, not worth it</div></div>
By the time next draft comes along those rankings will be very different, and there is absolutely no guarantee we even get a chance at Power. There is also no guarantee that Power becomes a legit NHL dman. Sergachev we know for a fact is. That pick is well worth giving up.
