Kings perspective
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Matt Roy may indeed go somewhere at the trade deadline, but I highly doubt that it will be Toronto.</div></div>
If not Toronto, then who?
By my eye, the Kings are in theory piggybacking off of the Tanev trade talks if they're legitimately kicking the tires on moving Roy. The teams I see attempting to acquire Tanev the most on these boards are (in no particular order) Dallas, Edmonton, and Toronto. One of those teams is an immediate Pacific division rival (potential 1st or 2nd round matchup), one is (as of right now) a 50% chance to be the Kings' third round opponent God forbid they make it past two of Vancouver/Edmonton/Vegas.
It would seem - by my eye at least - that if these are the three highest bidders for Tanev and Roy, it would serve the Kings well to get him out to The Center of the Universe as fast as possible, even if (assuming the mission is to move Roy at all costs) you're only getting 80% value from Toronto. Is the gap in value worth one of Edmonton or Dallas trouncing the Kings?
Granted, the option of "do not trade Matt Roy" is still on the table but I can't imagine a deal of 1st, 4th, and a lesser prospect (Villeneuve?) being completely balked at.

Saw this Article 3-Way Deal Leafs Perspective
This seems very fair for each side. As long as an extension is in place or hes open to it, I think toronto does it. This is way better than Tanev imo Roy is 28 and fits the timeline way better. Extend fo like a 4x4.75 or so and its great

Last year was a buyers market though. Lots of teams were selling off. This year has been a sellers market, the Monahan trade is evident of that.[/quote]
Sellers market for centers sure.
The last dman sold tho was Zadorov and did his return indicate a sellers market?

mittelstadt's probably not for sale. They can have EJ in exchange for a one year park anywhere pass in downtown Toronto. Or a fully maxed out presto card.

Smart Deadline
I do like the idea of trading for Carrier. Hes currently 4th in share of ice on The Preds and would help the leafs. All these deals are fair market and have potential. The only question, how much better do these deals make the Leafs? It would be nice to keep Brodie and move him down with Liljegren or use the picks to grab a Veteran to play there. Lajoie in the top 6 to start the playoffs would give me night terrors

People that don't think Rielly is a #1 at this point are just straight up delusional. I do agree the Leafs could use another #1, if not a top pairing D, but Karlsson is not what they need, certainly not at the cost of Marner. Also, Marner has never been the issue in the playoffs. He's their current leader in playoff points among active players, all while playing a shutdown role.
In short, you have no idea what you're talking about,

Also a real solid defensive forward as well
Like I said before, trading him for us doesn’t makes sense because it wouldn’t be worth it the the minimal return he’d get if any at all

Oilers 2024 All In TDL Dream
“Some teams have been calling on Broberg”?? That’s not the situation as I have heard it. Broberg has wanted out & made it know so. Oilers gave his agent permission to seek a trade & no team has ponnyed up to get him. It doesn’t help a players value when he gets healthy scratched & returned to the AHL. “Dominates the AHL”?? You’d make quite the hype man, I’ll give you that.
Hawks decline.

Oilers 2024 All In TDL Dream
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HockeyGawd</b></div><div>Walker was a dump. He was **** in LA last season and was getting blasted by fans, he was not good and his nearly 3M cap hit did not help.
Vlasic is not better. Youre not going to compare a dman who averages 20+ mins a game to a guy who's not at fault for always getting 8 mins per night on a contending team because the vets were preferably more used. Aside from Korchinski, none of the guys you mentioned have anything close to Broberg's potential lol.
And you saying he hasnt been able to make the roster because the Oilers have needed it is untrue. The Oilers have not needed a LD. The Oilers had Nurse, Keith, Kulak in 2021 when he was first available to get called up. And then Ekholm came to replace Keith. Not his fault the Oilers on LD just kept being good. And back to Broberg not being able to make the team, none of the Hawks' LD even gets considered in the Oilers LD core if 1 of the LD goes down.
Don't think about what you, as a fan, wants. Think about how a GM thinks. They see a 1st and "Philip Broberg, the former 8th overall pick" and they'll think it's enough. Specially with Broberg's skating as a dman, GM's will drool over that with the current trend of top dman being great skaters. Again, it's not about what YOU want, it's about what your GM wants.</div></div>
I am thinking about what the GM thinks. You are the one who seems to only be thinking about trimming EDM's fat, while completely disregarding the needs of teams you are proposing a deal with. My thoughts on this subject have nothing to do with fandom and are an educated supposition based on what Kyle Davidson has done and said since taking over as GM.
More LD would be the last thing CHI needs. Also, Do you know why they kept going out getting more LD, pushing Broberg further down the depth chart? Because he isn't good enough. KD doesn't want your overvaluations on underperforming prospects. He will not value him as highly as you seem to. Quit trying to pawn off your struggling prospects as having high value.
The fact that you think Broberg is better than Vlasic shows how little you know.

Someone will pay for him. I really don't see Boston & Toronto working together though seeing as they haven't complete a deal of significance with each other since 2011. I could see a possible Bert/BOS reunion in the off-season, but even that isn't a high possibility. Rumor is Boston offered Bert a 4yr/$20 million deal, but he and his agent thought he could do better in FA (that backfired). I can't see Boston's stance on Bert's value change enough to bridge the gap of what he wants vs want they want to give.

a REAL Top 4
Regarding the Tanev deal:
From what Conroy said, there were two reasons we didn't retain on Zadorov.
The first was that we only have 3 retention slots. Conroy plans on using all of them. As it happens we have 3 UFAs in Lindholm, Tanev, and Hanifin. Conroy is also willing to help other teams facilitate trades, so he can maximize our assets.
The second reason was that we needed cap space ahead of a potential Kylington return. Kylington was placed on LTIR at the start of the season.
The price seems about right. I see it around 2 x 2nds for Tanev. Leafs fans might consider it an overpay based on how they view their prospects.
---
CAR wouldn't give you a 2nd for Samsonov. He's still a replacement level goalie this year, and he would be overpaid even at $1.75M.
