Wayy too much to give up for Miller.
It might be what Vancouver expects. But versatile middle 6 LW, top prospect, 2x 1sts + is too much to give up for 1 year of Miller.

Matthew Tkachuk
If they offered Matt $10.5 million as an RFA deal, it would be 1x 1sts & 2x 2nds as compensation , and wouldn't have to include players-- which could be flipped elsewhere to gain assets back. Calgary is only as likely to match, as they would be to accept the trade.

TOR has been linked to Murray, but it would be with retention,<em> a lot</em> of it. If TOR wanted a $6million goalie, would pick the top FA and go.

Leafs offseason

The whole, "he can't carry a pair, so he's worthless" mentality on here is stupid. I am not saying he's a terrific player but at 2 million he's a bargain.</div></div>
Again, he's played top 4 minutes, and is <em>capable</em> of doing so-- but he's a better fit talentwise as a bottom pairing player. At no point did I say he's worthless.
Arguing that he's top 4 talent because he plays in the top 4, is like arguing that Bunting is a #1 LW because he plays on the top line. Fit & line-mates matter.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logan_Ollivier</b></div><div>With your cap issues, getting a 2 million dollar top 4 RD certainly makes sense.</div></div>
I don't dislike Holl (I actually believe he's highly underrated and hated for no reason)-- he has value as a PK, and is absolutely an NHL caliber RHD @ a good cap hit of $2million.... but still, let's be real, he's not a legitimate top 4 guy.
Yes, he has at times played top 4 minutes for TOR, but that doesn't make you a top 4 player. He does not carry a pairing.
If Holl is on his way out, it is only because TOR is hoping that Sandin & Liljegren start eating minutes. $2 million to be a 7th D is a luxury they can't afford. If Sandin is to be traded- Holl will be on the opening day roster

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>T0R</b></div><div>If Boosh wants 2.5 Dubas will pay him before he hits the market</div></div>
I don't think so. Not because he's not worth it-- there's already becoming a logjam @ D.
Rielly, Brodie, Muzzin, Gio, Liljegren, Sandin, Holl. Even if you move Holl out, you're either holding Sandin out of the lineup, or Boosh @ $2.5
Muzzin isn't going on LTIR, or waiving his NTC-- So unless Sandin is on his way out in a trade package, Boosh will be in a different Jersey next season.

Taking from the SCF
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RWellington</b></div><div>This is the most TML bitter take I've read in a while.
Barrie is a 40-50 point RHD, with a reasonable contract.
Contract Comps: Justin Faulk, Kevin Shattenkirk, Damon Seversson ...... but hey that is off the top of my head, there is probably only another dozen or so that relate.
This is what I don't understand about the Barrie situation, he is a known commodity and teams with poor PP's should be lining up to get this player. COL moved him because of Makar, EDM should be doing the same because of Bouchard it isn't because of him being a poor player, it has everything to do with redundancy. Bouchard is on his ELC, he brings the needed offense to move on from Barrie.</div></div>
I'm not knocking Barrie-- not my favorite player, but I agree he has value. Seattle might even value him similarly to how you do, but that doesn't change his trade market value-- there isn't going to be a lineup to take on his contract for a PP specialist that isn't a good defender, into his 30's.

I don't think there will be a bidding war for Barrie's $9.5 million owed / & $9mil cap hit over the 2 years.
If SEA wants Barrie, I would hope they're aware that the price tag won't be this high, as there is little to no market competition for his services,

Liljegren had no chance at "twice as much" --- He's played 76 games @ the NHL level -- for many of which he looked shaky. He looked solid down the stretch, yes, but w/ Gio as a partner.
Good player yes. Good value signing by Dubas, yes. But this isn't some grand negotiating miracle.
Don't be surprised if Sandin is signed @ the same, or $100-$200k more.

Teams would only do trades like this if it gives them the option to add an 8th year... which no one will be doing for Soup.

Brown is the more valuable player. Ottawa doesn't consider this, IMO.

Brown with retention might get OTT a 1st round pick, without sending back a 3rd. They don't gain much here.

Kerfoot doesn't fill in for PLD. Count him as a 2nd or early 3rd round pick for sake of value.
Need to add at least another early draft pick/good prospect to get in the ballpark.

Not enough. Mrazek isn't a positive.
So 1 good prospect, an RFA without a set contract, a late first, & Kerfoot (another asset to flip) -- for a top 5 goalie in the world

Agreed.
IF Kerfoot is moving out- it's to shed salary to spend on a G, or to split money between 2 roster spots. Not re-spend on 1 player of equal or lesser value.
