Craig Button's Final List
There is so much to digest here, what even is this? Button's lists are typically pretty bad but this one is on a whole new level of bad.
Adding to what <a href="/users/A_Habs_fan" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@A_Habs_fan</a> already said: Kemell at 3, Snuggerud in the Top 10, Kulich at 14, Firkus at 16, Schaefer at 20, Goyette in the 1st round and Bichsel at 55. There are a lot more things I disagree with but these are the worst imo.

Any recommendations for draft sites or YouTube/Twitter accounts that upload long tape of players prior to the draft? I frequently have a hard time finding footage on a lot of lower-ranked players and have to scratch together a few minutes of tape.

People can dislike the idea of trading for Gibson, but that is nowhere near the value one would have to give up. Never heard about editorinleaf before someone mentioned him (/her?) here a few days ago. How bad are his (/her) takes?

I like that Friedge is extremely pedantic about specifying which category everything he says falls into (it can be annoying to listen to sometimes, but at least you’re certain the information is always accurate/trustworthy), but it takes a little more thinking to parse through Seravalli’s stuff (probably because he’s big on driving clicks with headlines, which is fine, whereas Friedge has earned that top insider spot by being reliable, and everyone in hockey reads his stuff for that reason anyway).</div></div>
The only thing that annoys me about Friedman are his team abbreviations. Like, just use the proper abbreviations:tearsofjoy

Trading the Whole Team Pt 1
Carrick has more value, he's was one of the better Bottom 6 players in the league last season.
Henrique's contract isn't as bad as you think. He's still a good player. Not quite worth the money or the term but that deal isn't "terrible".
The Canucks aren't even paying a lot lol. Pearson and Myers don't do anything and don't hold that much value. And no a bunch of picks and Höglander don't make it worth it when the Ducks are giving up their best player in the process.
That Dallas deal is just horrible, sorry for the harsh words. Sequin has been pretty bad and is not worth his contract, ask any Stars fan (<a href="/users/EsoYeezus69" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@EsoYeezus69</a>). He isn't even close to being worth a Top 5 Goalie prospect in the league, a recent 1st and a 2nd. Especially without retention. And Sequin is not a top line C.
Lundeström and Vaakanainen have more value than that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Alfie11</b></div><div>So do I have to trust Kevin Weekes as a legitimate insider now lol? I still remember last year when he broke like 2 or 3 things that were obviously false (clearly just being fed info by one side or another to drive up prices, e.g. the Tkachuk+2 1sts+2 prospects for Eichel thing), which real insiders should know is fake until they confirm with someone else. But he did break a lot of trades and seems to be the first guy to get a lotta coaching stuff. Do we think he’s legit now? I’m down to bump Dreger down the insider rankings tbh, never really trusted him since it was made clear he’s a Darren Ferris mouthpiece (even though I was a big fan a decade ago).</div></div>
At this point I think he's one of the most trustworthy. And aside from that, his announcement videos crack me up every time. I still remember the one from the barber shop at the TDL, I spat out the water in my mouth when I saw that lol

Gazizov is not a 1st round pick. Idk why CF ranks him there but look him, he's not going there. Same goes for Fraser Minten.
Hughes is a reach at 26.
Perevalov also doesn't project to go in the 1st.
Gauthier is pretty sure to go in the Top 10, there is no way he falls to the end of the 1st.
Casey isn't going Top 11.

Can't see him jumping the likely Top 5 if Wright, Slafkovský, Cooley, Nemec and Jiříček. That only leaves Columbus and I feel like they will take Savoie. I think Gauthier will be Ottawa's pick but I obviously don't actually know what anyone will do.

6 is not abad ranking for Slafkovský, I have him there too and I've watched him quite a bit this season. His tournament performances have inflated rankings and drafting him at 1 would be a big mistake. He'll probably be gone at 2OA because he's big, skilled and had good tournaments but he shouldn't go there.

No Gibson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GenXHockey</b></div><div>Ummm... season starts in October. That's why I said you could make a case in 19/20. I could pull a month for mrazek and make him look good. Or just about any goalie for that matter.
I'm not trying to **** on Gibson though. To me he does not have the value he did in 2019 or even 20 or 21. Every year chips away at that value. Players don't lose value as quick as people in cap friendly think, but in some instances they don't retain as long they think when it's someone they like.
My offer, which was just as much as I think the leafs should offer was a 1st 2nd and Woll. With Mrazek being dumped for a 3rd. I'd be willing to add a prospect that Anaheim had use for. Not one named Robertson, knies or niemela.
Now that isn't saying it's s much as they will be offered. Just as much as I think the leafs should be willing to gamble.</div></div>
20/21 started in January. He had a rough first few games last season which is why I left October out because it was also less games, should've specified that. He had a .905 in October 2021 btw.
I just think GMs still view him as valuable, everything indicates that (including the anonymous vote that placed Gibson at 5).
I feel like someone, maybe even the Leafs will add more. I don't have any sources or anything but I think it'll happen.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Alfie11</b></div><div>I think Mintyukov would probably have the edge over Korchinski due to a slightly better defensive game if he wasn’t Russian, and Mateychuk is a little undersized for the Ducks imo (having 3 of your projected top 4 be under 6’ isn’t great). Gauthier would probably be close to a steal at 10, most scouts seem to think he’s going in the 5-8 range (Philadelphia, Columbus, and Detroit need a centre, and Ottawa loves big guys that can skate, even though he’d probably play LW). Lambert’s upside is enormous, but his flaws make him a reach at 10 imo. He’s more likely to go in the 18-25 range I reckon, I’d rather take Nazar/Kasper/Lekkerimaki around that slot.
Btw are you subscribed to the Athletic? Pronman’s article today (NHL draft confidential) had a lot of interesting insight from anonymous NHL execs/scouts about how they view guys. Apparently the private sphere views guys a lot differently than the public sphere (higher on guys like Korchinski, Gauthier, Kasper, Kulich and lower on guys like Lambert, Nazar, Savoie, even some Kemell/Lekmerimaki doubt). Not that that’s overly surprising (who woulda guessed that hockey men like the bigger guys more lol), but it’s still interesting to read.</div></div>
That's why I'm not a fan of Mateychuk to the Ducks. I think Lambert should go in the 12-18 range personally. I don't think Mintyukov's nationality will have an impact on his draft position since he plays in North America already anyways. At the moment I'm leaning towards Mintyukov at 10 (if Gauthier isn't there) and someone like Kulich, Snuggerud or Trikozov at 21.
Not subscribed but I've seen someone mentioning that article. It's that way almost every year and guys fall that the public was very high on but I still surprises me every single year lol.
