Good year to trade a 1st, especially for a playoff team. It'll be quite random in terms of what you get because the juniors are not/barely playing. Exciting pickup for Toronto!

Vancouver Canucks signed Thatcher Demko (5 Years / $5,000,000 AAV)
Good for Demko, get paid now and still get to be UFA when only 30, which is pretty young for a goalie. Then he can make a big money move to a real team, if he keeps up a good performance.

Even in your manufactured team here they are a bit over the cap and that includes putting $10M of cap on the taxi squad.

Lol bunch of jokers on here. I guess if you have views that counter the orthodoxy, you best keep them to yourself. And don't forget to give grifters like Evander Kane a megaphone to spew their bile...betas will lap it up.

Why not $875,000 though?

Vegas Golden Knights signed William Carrier (4 Years / $1,400,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DangleCat</b></div><div>You can literally just bury the contract in the AHL then, idk how this contract could really backfire, you want it shorter? Fine that makes sense but it isn't like this deal is gonna be a huge hindrance to their cap at such a low $ amount. Carrier also has really good underlying numbers so even if he doesn't chip in offensively he plays a very responsible game.</div></div>
It won't make or break their cap by itself, but one or two contracts of this type can mean there's only $5M around to offer a player who wants $6-6.5M. You can get Carrier-quality play for less money and certainly less term. Again, he has room to improve his play so he can prove the haters wrong, for sure. He just needs to go do it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KubaH</b></div><div>The lenght is maybe bigger that expected, but the salary is very low, so it seem good to me. He is the type of guy that every playoff team needs.</div></div>
You mean the type of guy who is -2 with 0 points in 17 career playoff games?
This leaves less room for ELCs to play in 2-3 years. Unless he significantly improves his play I think this is an under-the-radar bust of a contract.

New York Rangers signed Chris Kreider (7 Years / $6,500,000 AAV)
This contract is not CBA-compliant as the lowest annual salary ($4M) is less than 50% of the highest annual salary ($10M). How come no one has spotted this? It must be a mistake.
