Question
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>swinny</b></div><div>Joseph's game is such that the Sens should not be giving up assets. People in CF see an issue and think their team will get a good player, a strong additional asset for nothing. No. Joseph comes with term.... and that is worth something. The contract isn't Josh Amderson bad by any stretch.
I see something similar to the Paul for Joseph deal frankly. A slight downgrade, but not so much so as to do determental harm.
I was looking at Winnipeg and David Gustafsson. Young, contract control, bottom 6 forward..... that kind of idea. The issue with the Jets is where on earth does Joesph play lol. Their forward core is very very balanced, so I doubt Chevy would bit. But the construct is the important thought there.</div></div>
Completely agree

Question
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>swinny</b></div><div>I for one thought JBD had a line on a starting spot this season.... then Dorion signs Hamonic.... so essentially he is the #7.
Loosing him to waivers would be bad asset management imo. He won't fetch a lot on the open market, but something is better than nothing.
Beyond that, I do believe trying to move some money is the right move here. The Sens do have defensive depth organizationally, but I question how ready it is right now. Kleven looks great, but a full year in Belleville is probably the right course of action. Lassi is what he is, and could be a waiver causality as well.
The Sens have options. But, Dorion actually did address the blueline at the TDL last season. To risk making that depth shallow would undo the work.
Moving on from Joseph makes sense at this stage..... and I maintain that a Joseph deal will look more like a hockey deal than a cap dump. The guy can play some solid 3rd line minutes, albeit slightly overpaid. But as I continue to point out, next season that cap hit will pretty much fall in line; meaning the "big" sweetener may not have to be so big - especially if the deal is made with a team looking for contract certainty.</div></div>
Fair points. I do like JBD and I do think he could become a good bottom pair defenseman. It also depends on a potential return for Joseph. However, personally, I'd rather lose JBD than Joseph. And of course giving up assets to get rid of Joseph would be idiotic at this point. Anyways, remains to be seen.

BIG moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MomsLuvDarien</b></div><div>Florida pays to get the Tkachuk brothers together and Ottawa goes out and gets their old captain back. Although Ik the trades arnt realistic and quite crazy looks like a pretty good and well balanced team.</div></div>
Yes, the trades aren't realistic. But they're also not fair. Both Reinhart and Verhaeghe are without any meaningful term. So we'd lose both of them to free agency. Anyways, not worth the debate since this would never happen lol

Don't think the sens are interested in a rental. Dorion says he's only interested in players with term moving forward.

I don't see why not. Pretty solid team all around. But yeah, depends if the team is engaged and if there are other moves coming involving the big guys.

I'm happy with this overall. The bottom 6 is meh but I wouldn't be surprised to see the sens sign someone like Josh Bailey or Motte again.

Hellebuyck Goes Home
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MikeyVC97</b></div><div>When Hellebuyck basically refuses a trade anywhere else the market and return value shrink. For a guy that says he's leaving they will be luck to get the 2nd round pick and an above avg goalie in return. No teams in contention can afford Hellebuyck or even need a goalie.</div></div>
Hellebuyck doesn't have a NMC. The jets can trade him wherever they want. To say they'll be lucky to get a 2nd is laughable. I'm sure he'll draw a lot of interest, especially at the deadline.

Making them legit playoff contenders
I like Konecny but idk if the sens are in a position where we can give up all those assets for only 2 years (potentially) of Konecny. I just don't think we have what it takes to get him unfortunately. We swung big on Chychrun and Debrincat and now we're paying the price asset wise. We'll see.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheWolfe</b></div><div>Because Dorion has no leverage. Like I said, go look at the PLD deal as a comp.</div></div>
But Kubalik and a 2nd is nowhere near close to what the Jets got. Even if we assume Dorion has little leverage, Debrincat is still worth 1st/2nd, good prospect and a roster player.
To me:
Vilardi>Berggren
Iafallo>Kubalik
Hanas = Kupari (wash imo)
2nd round pick
So it's true that Debrincat's value is lower than PLD's and I think your original offer is actual fair given this market. But I can't see a world where Dorion trades Debrincat for a 2nd and 1 year of Kubalik. He'd certainly get more for him at the deadline. Sens and Wings fans will disagree throughout this whole debacle until the cat gets traded. You seem to be a realist though.
