Montreal Canadiens signed Luke Tuch (2 Years / $925,000 AAV)
Low risk signing, with a not very high ceiling. To be honest, if he walked it wouldn't have bothered me much.
Curious to see how he'll stack up in Laval.

(COL/NSH) - Hanzel, 2025 3rd (COL) for Trenin, Sward
I really like the idea of Trenin in Colorado, and I like Graham Sward. That being said, I REALLY like Jeremy Hanzel and I think a 3rd round pick is exactly what Trenin is worth. It's not like Colorado got fleeced or anything and they did add a useful player, but I think Nashville wins. Hopefully Trenin can go back to his 17 goal self and keep playing his physical style of game, then I think its pretty easy to argue Colorado won

Good AHL Option. 28 YO just signed his first NHL contract, that's a nice story.

(PIT/MTL) - Matheson for Petry, Poehling

Poehling is a throwaway player.
So it becomes Matheson + 4th for Petry.
Matheson is 6 years younger and signed for 1 more year than Petry, costs $1.4 Million Less and will likely remain as a top 4 defensemen throughout his entire contract wheras Petry will likely start regressing in the next 2 or 3 years. I do like this trade for Montreal, but I voted fair trade because I think both teams do well here.

(PIT/MTL) - Matheson for Petry, Poehling
Can't say I'm super satisfied with the return, but we're far from the days people were saying it'd take a 1st to offload Petry.
The market was set by McDonagh & Petry - teams are too tight to the cap and MTL didn't want to retain. Poehling was going to be lost on waivers as well.

Thread:
(PIT/MTL) - Matheson for Petry, Poehling
Matheson was terrible in Florida but was really turning it around in Pittsburgh. I am really interested to see how he works out in Montreal now because it will show whether or not it was him figuring it out or something systemically that the Pens were doing to help him exploit his value. Lot of term at a big aav though to take that risk.
Petry has been good in the past but is old and in decline, but if last year was an abhoration then who knows this could be great for PGH but again a mid term at a very high aav carries a lot of risk.
Just an interesting trade all around with a lot of potential downside for all inolved.

Ooooofff that is a bad deal. You don't sign depth to term, ever.
CF users once again demonstrating a total lack of understanding in risk of term is pretty funny. This contract is awful and is extremely unlikely to age well in the near ish future let alone the next half decade +
Good for him though.

(MTL/VGK) - Weber for Dadonov
Habs get to trade Weber contract without paying anything. Dadonov should get big minutes, and he's gonna want to perform to sign a nice contract next year. Could possibly play with Wright? Nice veteran addition to the young core, could get a nice return for him at the TDL with 50% retained salary.
Love this for MTL. Also makes sense for Vegas.

I expect this Dcore next season:
Big Ed-Petry/Letang
Romy-Savard
Ghule-Wideman
Shueneman</div></div>
I agree, but what about Harris, Barron, Norlinder, Struble?

Hey all you suckers! It finally f****** happened! "He's terrible " only should get a 4th" where are you people? Ypu just got busted by Habs fans!
2023 draft is better than this one, and unprotected so large W. Simalnic is a good prospect, and a 4th on top of that. Don't tell me that hughes fleeced, because any gm woudo get this amount of value in chiarot 1000%.
Their defense is nasty:
Chiarot - Ekblad
Forsling - Weegar

(FLA/MTL) - Smilanic, 1st, 4th for Chiarot
TBH, Chiarot was going to get a first, Habs fans were just cocky about it, he is a big minute munching defenseman with size, he will be good for them in the playoffs but the question I have with Florida, is that they still have cap space to make more trades, 2m I think, he's not done.

People tried to deny it as much as they could, but Chiarot was definitely going to fetch a 1st.
It was a heck of a three years, Big Ben, the most polarizing defenseman in Habs recent memory. Eye-test people loved him, analytics people hated him. Truth is, you will be missed in Montréal.
Florida just became even more dangerous for the playoffs.

Lol copy and pasted. He needs to do 4 years in college and hes gone. You guys dont know the rules. What college you guys watch in Montreal lol</div></div>
Montreal has nothing to do with it.
You have 30 days from graduation to sign him. 30 days after graduation is August 15th 2023. I don't know what you are interpreting that suggests otherwise.
