With the pick that high it’s probably off the table for any goalie other than Swayman or Saros. And BOS shouldn’t be entertaining Swayman offers. Just have to be realistic of what 30+ year old goalies fetch in the offseason

If 9OA is the goal here, the ask from NJ would more likely be Swayman, which BOS should say no to. The 9th pick isn’t moving for a guy that will be 31 when the season starts with just one year left though

Still wouldn’t be interesting in NJ, when that package can be moved for one of the better goalies available, or other players that can help win now

Off Season Moves
9OA woild likely only be moved for a guy like Saros. There really isn’t any reason the price for Ullmark would be that steep, with even the best goalies in the past typically moving for much less.
The only exception would be Corey Schneider who would be 4 years younger at the time the season would start, and moved for 9OA alone in a pretty solid draft.

I don’t think there’s a ton of interest from NJ to move Marino, but that might be too good of an offer to say no to

The time to get that kind of haul of Markstrom was a month ago. His price dropped dramatically the second the TDL went by

Goalie and more
The time to get a 1st for Markstrom was a month ago. Especially not with that pick safely in the top 10 now, Markstrom frustrated with ownership, and just the fact that trades in the offseason are much more favorable to buyers following what was a surprisingly favorable TDL for buyers

Pulling The Cord On The Core
I would absolutely love Marner on the Devils, but that price ain’t it for even 8 years of him, with how well that Bratt contract is going to age and still some cost control on Nemec. It does more harm for NJ long term than good

IF Crosby came next offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jay27</b></div><div>Why not? A 2nd has what like a 1 in 3 chance of playing a 100 games in the NHL while Harris has already played 115, is still young and on a decent contract. If they could use him in the lineup it’d actually be statistically pretty stupid to not do that deal.</div></div>
Brendan Smith has played over 600 NHL games. Now he’s a bit older than Jordan Harris, but statistically speaking it would be stupid for the Habs not to trade a 1st rounder for Brendan Smith’s UFA rights since there’s only a 70% chance a 1st rounder could even get to 100 games, let alone almost 700!!!

Likely no interest. Doubt he’s untouchable, but there’s no real reason to move him either

It just doesn’t help NJ or contribute to playoff contention next season to see them considering this. Holtz is probably moved for a significantly better defender or a 1A goalie

More of a good problem to have kind of situations and the contract gives NJ flexibility to be patient if they even want to move on.
They’ve showed they don’t have an issue putting a good defender on the 3rd pair before though, with severson last year when they used him as a self rental for the year

Player deployment in NJ has been as erratic as it gets this season. Especially with the Dougie Hamilton injury.
He gets the second most minutes of any other NJ defender, but I would consider him a second pair guy when health isn’t an issue.

Holtz to Habs
I don’t think the value is an issue here, if anything it’s an overpay, the trade just doesn’t make sense for NJ. They’re more likely to keep Holtz as a cost controlled forward (hopefully not 4th liner in a new scheme next year) or use him in a trade for a 1A in net

He was actually who I had in there first before I decided Nemec, so I would definitely agree
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mediumyeet</b></div><div>There is not a single thing NJD could offer to get Quinn. He is as untouchable as they get especially now that he is our captain.</div></div>
That’s not really the exercise here though. It’s just building a trade comparable to what SJ gave up for the best offensive defensemen playing at that time
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kinger25</b></div><div>Seems like a bit of an overpayment but he’s likely worth it</div></div>
Can’t imagine anything less than an overpay wiggles him free from Vancouver rn, right?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TyeZerker</b></div><div>I see we Still cant stop trying to get brothers on the same team for no reason. Move on. what is this my eyes are burning</div></div>
Well the reason would be because Quinn Hughes is very good at hockey. This isn’t necessarily something I would want to happen though, but im just building what I think could be a comp to one of the biggest blockbusters of the decade. So I’m not sure what there is to move on from
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drambui</b></div><div>i feel holtz would be a better comparable to norris than Nemec.</div></div>
My two thoughts were Nemec and Casey. I feel like they (right now) have the same top line ceiling that Norris had at the time.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>…or wait a few years and we’ll get him for free</div></div>

Are you doubting the superiority of Rick Tocchet in the Pacific? Could easily be Wild Card 1 if Kuzmenko maintains that shooting percentage (not that hard, since he did it already)
