Unlikely But Not Unreasonable
The deal has to be done before the signing bonuses kick in.
Caps get an elite forward that they can afford due to Backstrom being on LTIR.
Leafs gain some good players and are free to possibly sign more depth by moving Oshie to LTIR for the '24-'25 season.

but someone else maybe. i think they could want good young defense?
i say this because i know how hardit is to get ufas to come to mtl. because of ...taxes, french, quebecquiness.
but the canadian prarie provinces have it just as tough, with OUR fans in THEIR stands.
so i would usually deal to these aforementioned prarir locations youth, and term, or picks.
they need long term control. by then may the player has roots gron and wont run away so easily.
how about a young d line. both sides: kova and harris(or struble?) with winnipegs pick.

None of Kovacevic, Harris or Struble work for the Jets. Winnipeg has plenty of bottom pairing and lower guys.

Fair deal for Ehlers or not whats your two cents
Italics means either RFA or UFA.
The Rangers acquire some more firepower for their top six. Ehlers should want to re-sign, so I don't see the one year remaining on his deal as an impediment or a concern. Hopefully stays healthy. Rangers with options for a beastly heavy playing 4th line, Grind Line times ten.
Kreider - Zibanejad - Ehlers
Panarin - Trocheck - Lafreniere
Cuylle - Roslovic/UFA - Vesey
Edstrom - Goodrow - Rempe
Brodzinski
The Jets acquire a center with tons of skill who they can slot in on the 2nd line in Filip Chytil, hopefully he stays healthy and starts to grow his career. They also get Kaapo Kakko, a pretty good defensive forward (a Jets kind o' player) who may yet break out offensively himself given the opportunity in the top six on a new team. I can't see him doing it on the Rangers if they're going to upgrade their top six anyway. Perfetti gets another chance in the top six with coach Bowness gone.
Connor - Scheifele - Vilardi
Perfetti - Chytil - Kakko
Niederreiter - Lowry - Appleton
Barron - Namestnikov - Iafallo
D. Gustafsson

Agreed! I haven't seen an Ehlers trade like this but I honestly really like it. Norris' health is obviously a concern but this is something I would strongly consider.

Plus a sub .900 save percentage every year in the ECHL/AHL since coming over in 19-20. Ouch.

Different Pulock Trade
I don't think the Jets will move Perfetti because he is cost controlled and still has upside. Maybe a good offseason and the new coach (whenever that happens) will be what Perfetti needs to stick in the lineup.

Different Pulock Trade
Too many pieces involved. Pageau isn't waiving for Winnipeg and the Jets aren't taking his contract. While the Jets can't afford to trade an RHD for pieces they don't need. Even though Pionk is nothing special.
As for Perfetti, I highly doubt he's available, but if he was it would need to be a hockey trade for something like Pulock, a player with term. I just don't think the Jets will want to give away a young player with team control left, so Ehlers is more likely to be moved.

Ehlers to NY Assuming cap gets figured out
Not close for Ehlers. Take out everything on the Islanders side and add Pulock.
Ehlers will likely only be moved in a hockey trade for a top 4 RHD or 2C with term or team control.

Ehlers to NY Assuming cap gets figured out
I think Winnipeg goes for one solid roster player instead of just picks (depends on where they are Holmstrom). Even Wahlstrom with more upside could be where they’d push it to. But with Winnipeg not using Ehlers fully, makes a ton of sense for the Isles to pull him away to get a high skill player to be a focal point offensively

Way too much involved in the Winnipeg trade. It needs to be simplified to a Pulock for Ehlers base. No need for any of the rest to be muddying the waters.

Winnipeg really likes Perfetti, a late 1st + 2nd wouldn't get him alone. Not to mention if they decide to move Schmidt for cap space it wouldn't be difficult to find a better replacement than Struble.

Ridly is nice and all, but the Jets can't spend those kind of assets on one year of a player that does nothing for them.
If Chychrun was an RHD and had term on a reasonable contract, the Jets might do it, but as an LHD he isn't worth Ehlers and Perfetti and a new contract.
