OMG #FireBergevin #FireMT why is PK gone!?!?!
Could be, but they've relied on great goaltending from Luongo and with his hip surgery at 37, the stability in goal might be an issue now (not sold on Reimer). And Jagr will slow down at some point, can the young players make up for that lack of production? Hard not to like what they did with the D corps... They will be strong, but there's still some question marks. The Habs have those too of course, but Carey Price brings them to a different level in my opinion.

The russian line
Could be spectacular. Still a bit of a gamble though, Yakupov is still unproven in the NHL. I'm not the biggest DD fan but he's well suited for a 3rd line center role, he has character and is a known quantity.

Agree with the premise, but I don't think Okposo can be had for only 6M AAV, I think you're looking more at 7M there. Also not sold on Carr on the second line...

This is a cup run, not an entry draft... Keep 9th & core, sign some depth
Agreed on Subban dgab, but I'm not sure that trade, or Okposo at only $6mil is realistic. I agree with the idea of signing a RW though, but I think we'd have to settle for Brouwer or Eriksson (if we get anything at all in free agency, which is never a guarantee).

Lol probably not on Loui, but it's kinda my ideal roster. Also I don't care where they come from, if they can help us win I'll take 'em! :D

Realistic and competitive
Yeah I would love Okposo , but I think he will cost quite a bit more because his point totals are so impressive (as a result of playing with Tavares if you ask me). I just think he will be out of our price range. But I'm also interested in Eriksson's goal totals specifically, I think he could give us a better bang for the buck. And hey, wouldn't it be great if a former Bruin was really productive for the Habs :D. As far as Carr, personally I'm not a big believer. It's certainly debatable, but I just don't think the guy has what it takes to contribute consistently at the NHL level. His skating, stick handling, shot... none of it stands out. I think Andrighetto has displayed an impressive skill set which suggests he might be able to be an NHL regular. And Lehkonen, well I'm a big believer in the Swedish system and the SHL. Producing the way he did in that league at only 20 years old, to me that suggests he can produce 10-15 goals this season, and that might be conservative. So both of those guys are ahead of Carr in my opinion, and the fourth line I think is pretty solid with guys like Danault, Mitchell, Byron, DLR, etc. Maybe we can trade Carr and get something useful... That's my thinking behind this roster though. Ideally I would like to upgrade the third line C position and add some size too, but I'm not sure that's realistic (unless we get Shipachev for a really good price).

Love it, good call replacing Ghetto with Carr I like that idea. Honestly this team has gotten so much crap but if we can land one of the big forward free agents we will be in business. Plekanec-McCarron-Eller-Danault needs to be the center alignment next season. So pumped about McCarron especially, he's ready for the NHL.

Spitballing, reshaping the roster
Yeah that Edm pick could in fact be lower than Montreal's lol :D The Oilers are still so poor on D though...
I agree too, don't think PK is going anywhere. As much as I think there is a good hockey trade to be made, his intangibles are off the charts. The guy thrives in the montreal pressure cooker and that wouldn't be the case for most players, even established nhl superstars.
Still think philosophically though, Bergevin should explore sacrificing the D to improve the offense (given that we have Carey), but that very likely doesn't involve moving Subban.

Stammergeddon
Yeah so I was basically looking for a B, B+ forward prospect from Buf, since Markov, though slowing down a lot, is still a capable top 4 D, especially on that Sabres roster desperate for good defenseman. I also think they're getting to the point where they wanna start winning and have the offensive pieces in place, so they could look for short term help on D to make a run at the playoffs as soon as next season. I included Lernout because Marky is definitely nearing the end, so I figure a decent prospect has to go their way in order to get a young player back. McCormick is there just because he doesn't appear to be in Buffalo's plans anymore, and I can't see them making a trade that results in such a huge net cap increase, so that contract gets tossed in to even it out a bit. But it still saves us enough to sign the Stammer. Of course, Marky has the no trade clause so this is likely impossible loll ;) The 5th rounder is in there because Bergevin always gets his 5th round pick in trades haha.
Kept the RFAs I think are most promising too in Lessio, Ghetto and Byron. Desharnais buyout also seems like a no-brainer at this point.

RNH + Boedker
Fair, just throwing stuff out there lol. Beaulieu's a pretty legit top 4 dman though and Edmonton could use someone like him. But yeah true that it will probably take more, Nuge is a top center. I assume Edm will try to get a good young defenseman for him though...
I wonder what Boedker would go for, sure he'd be a rental but a damn good one, and Vermette cost Chicago a first last season, have to assume Boedker would cost more.

Drouin+
Interesting trade. I'm a Habs fan so I've been thinking a lot about what it would take to get Drouin lol. From TB's perspective I think the best thing to acquire would be a young and cheap d-man, and it seems to me like Anaheim has the most to offer in that department. Mtl only has Nathan Beaulieu, but the Ducks have Fowler, Lindholm, Despres, Vatanen, Theodore... Who do you guys think would be the likeliest to go? Just curious what you guys think watching the team closely.

Jumbo Joe..
Yep I agree with you, Galchenyuk is progressing very nicely and is the future of the team at center. Sure he's still not as consistent as we'd all like but he's only 21, that will come, and moving him back to the wing would really send the wrong message and undo the progress that's been made in his 3 years of development here. Plus Jumbo Joe is declining and expensive, I don't think it'd be the best acquisition when we're trying to build a young team with good value deals. I think what we really need is a big time winger to complete the top 6. Bergevin's been trying to find a good fit on that right wing since he took over (Ryder, Vanek, Briere, Parenteau, Semin) and nothing has really worked, but I have to imagine he will keep trying and make some kind of move before the deadline (Simmonds could be a good fit).

Yeah it's more to get rid of Emelin's salary to clear some space for Stamkos, and even then it's tight lol. Just not sure who else would go otherwise to clear that space, maybe Eller or Pleks? But then there's less depth on offense and I feel like we have enough depth on D to get rid of Emelin. I'm not sure Tinordi has a future in Mtl. Watched a few of his games in Hamilton last year and he didn't look good at all, I don't think he's comfortable in the organization and he probably needs a fresh start. I'll admit I haven't seen a ton of Rychel but there were rumours he was on the trade block in the offseason because Columbus was trying to acquire some help on D. He seems like a very solid prospect. High first round pick, good mix of size and skill and can even drop the gloves if need be. Put up some big numbers in the OHL and he recently got called up and has 3 pts in his last 4 games. Still only 21 years old too so I'd imagine Columbus would like a good return for him. A current 4-5 dman and a (potentially) good prospect on D + a good pick could maybe get it done. I think the depth on D could overcome Emelin and Tinordi's loss, and that group of forwards would be very young and dynamic.

Habs w/ Ladd
Depends, this is more of a trade deadline scenario where Winnipeg isn't making the playoffs, since Ladd will be UFA. Remember Habs got Petry for a 2nd only and he's a top 4 right-handed dman. Obviously if the Jets are right in the playoff mix or they resign Ladd before then this will never happen. But yeah it might take more even at the deadline, replace Bournival with a better prospect...
