<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>icehawk2006</b></div><div>Korenar is one year in the minors, with only a slightly better save %, and you don't bank on one season as a trend. You bank on six seasons of solid work in the AHL with a league average save percentage. Korenar hasnt earned his way to the NHL yet, he wasnt even the starter for the baby Sharks last season, so in what world would he go straight to be the big club backup? The answer is no world. There are all sorts of business reasons you go with Bibeau too. The fact he's not waiver exempt means you risk losing him for nothing. Sure, probably not a huge loss, but at least give him a shot, if he doesn't do well, he'll be sent down and be less likely to get taken, and then he can be the permanent AHL goalie. If he is taken, then that's one less problem for Doug to deal with.

What you're saying about Melker is just not true at all. His 16 points are on the low side for a 4th liner on a playoff team. 5 of them were empty net points, 6 of the remainder were when he happened to be on the ice with top 6. So he generated all of 5 points while playing in a bottom six role. His line performs much, much better when he is off the ice, then when he is on the ice. As for PK, he is just awful, as in one of the worst PK'ers in the league. The team gives up 70% more shots on the PK when he is put on the ice to kill PKs. His positioning is bad, and he doesnt have the speed/quickness to move low to high and high to low, and he rarely gets in the way to block a shot because he cant get there and his stick work is bad.

$2M is a terrible pay for a fringe AHLer.</div></div>

What I'm saying is Bibeau and Korenar aren't ready for the NHL yet, maybe next season, but if you had to choose I would choose Korenar. I bet Korenar will start more games in the preseason then Bibeau.

The Sharks were about average for PK's last season, and Melker would play on most of them. Is he being slightly overpaid? yes, but only by a couple hundred thousand. He is also not a ''fringe AHL'' player
